3 Presidents Message: It is hard to believe that May is almost over and we will soon be into our summer months. June 6 th Liz has arranged a wonderful field trip to O Flannery s Tole Shop in Redlands if you haven t signed up you are truly going to miss a fun trip. Then instead of our regular meeting on June 8 th we will be chowing down on some great food at Terrie Busse s house at our annual pot luck dinner. Don t forget to check out all our upcoming paint-ins and get signed up for your favorites. Those of you attending the last meeting heard that there is a new chapter in the San Fernando Valley called the Golden Brushes. We are excited to say that this new chapter has been formed to ADD to everyone s opportunities to paint. If you would like to join the new chapter great but please know that whether you join or not you will always be welcome at all their paint-ins. One of our favorite members Dixie Thorne has not been feeling well and I am sure would love to hear for some of her painting family. Our condolences also go out to Jeanne Lanquist for the recent loss of her husband. As I write this message I have been house bound with Pneumonia for almost 2 weeks now and it is driving me crazy. I haven t even felt like painting! But hopefully by the time the newsletter gets out to you I will be back to normal or as normal as I get. LOL Let s all see if we can get those brushes going and paint, paint, paint!!! Karen Lewis ***** A note from Carol Ganzi Paint-In VP **** There is still time to sign up for the Water Lilies, Saturday, June 27 - Newbury Park and Ladybugs, Friday, July 24 - Thousand Oaks. 5 ROAD TRIP! VENTURA COUNTY FAIR AUGUST 5 16, 2015 It s time to start thinking about what you are going to enter this year in the fair. The Tole & Decorative Painting Division is #520. The on line entering will start at on June 1, 2015 and end on July 20, All entries must be taken to the fair ground on July 24, 25 or 26, 2015, 10AM to 5PM and removed on August 17 th between the hours of 12 noon and 7PM. During the fair we always have at least 2 days that our chapter goes to the fair and demonstrates our painting in an effort to get new members and promote decorative painting. The past few years I have seen that everything gets taken to the fair however, I will be in Davis, CA at a wedding that weekend and will not be able to do it this year. ************ VOLUNTEERS NEEDED ************ One person to head the committee and see that all entries are taken to the fair and returned from the fair. 1 or 2 people to assist in the taking in & removal of all entries. I will head the committee to set up the demos but need 3 to 5 people to go to the fair on the planned days (TBD) to demo. This usually means you get a free pass into the fair on the demo days but you do have to pay for your parking. We demo from the time the fair opens until approximately 3 or 4 in the afternoon. The fair always has some great shows in the evening so check them out and let me know the day or days you would like to demo so you can see the show that night.
