1 Connections A M E N I T Y A N D C O M M U N I T Y N E W S November Bella Vista Club Champions Congratulations to Penny Williams and Bob Brooks, our 2017 Bella Vista Club Champions! This was the inaugural year for this championship format and Golf Ops plans to continue with annual tournaments. Both tournaments were held at Dogwood Golf Course with the women playing in July and the men playing in September. Penny shot a 76, 73 with a total of 149 over two days and Bob shot two 74 s for a total of 148. Both champions received trophies and a personalized parking spot at the course of their choice; both players chose Country Club Golf Course.

2 The Back 40 Run / Ride The 2017 Back 40 Run & Ride is December 9 and 10 and this year, the Back 40 distance options for both running and riding are 13 miles, 20 miles and 40 miles. A family-friendly 5k run is also planned for Saturday. The event is headquartered at Blowing Springs Park, both running and riding events will start at the Blowing Springs Trailhead. The 13, 20 and 40-mile runs will start at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, and the 5k racers will start after. There will be a 10-hour cut-off time for all runners. Rides start at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10, and have the same cutoff time. Fully supported aid stations, staffed by experienced runners and riders, will be available along the course. Choose to run or ride, or compete both days for an added challenge. Participants will get a T-shirt with the phenomenal race logo, designed by local artist and runner Ryan Holler. Finishers medals will be awarded to participants of all races except the 5k. Runners will get one-half of a magnetic medal, riders will get the other half. Do both, get both. Those brave enough to double up on the 20- or 40-mile distances will get a special handcrafted award, along with the overall top finishers. Catfish John s will be out at the event again, providing free catfish and hushpuppies to runners and riders on both days, and for sale to spectators. Space is limited for the races and registration will fill up quickly. Register online by going to There will be no day-of registration. Volunteers are also needed for the event. 3 POA Welcomes New Manager We are proud to announce the hiring of Scott Redington as the Food & Beverage Manager for the POA. Scott reports to Thomas Lee with a start date of October 23. Scott s diverse background as both a Chef and a General Manager will have an instant impact on Lakepoint and the soonopening BV s Bar & Grill. He has spent years working in the food and beverage industry with the Hilton Restaurant Group in Portland and Salt Lake City and with Restaurants Limited/Pacific Coast Restaurant. Scott has well-rounded experience with all aspects of managing restaurants; planning and executing large banquets; and community charity and fundraising events. He is a great addition to our staff, said Tommy Lee, Business Development Director. Bella Vista Bluebird Society The Bella Vista Bluebird Society (BVBBS) needs Trail Boss volunteers to help in efforts to conserve Bluebirds. Trail Bosses are maintenance people who repair or replace boxes on the various trails. This work is normally needed after the birds have finished nesting, although there could be repairs needed during the nesting season also. There are openings for 3 Trail Bosses: 1 each at Dogwood Hills, Kingswood, and Scotsdale. BVBBS has 485 boxes on 38 trails located across Bella Vista. Most of the boxes are located on the 7 golf courses. Some are on shorter trails in parks, churches, etc. No experience is needed, training is provided. The Bella Vista Women s Chorus, joined by the Bella Vista Men s Chorus, Perfect Harmony and the Bentonville High School Chamber Choir, will honor our Veterans in song. 4 Lakes News & Updates Bella Vista KBF Trail Ranking and Results On September 30, 38 KBF (Kayak Bass Fishing) Members and three guests registered to fish for a $1,000 First Prize purse. Jason Kincy of Bentonville, AR. took first with a total of 73.5 earning a $1,111 prize and 200 Angler of the Year (AOY) points. Travis Ueke of Missouri came in second place with 72 for $570. In third place, Dorman Hughey from Missouri with for $214. James Harding, also from Missouri, netted and a $105 check. KBF members earning the right to fish Kentucky Lake in March include: Youth Angler Chris Connolley (AR) had of bass and 10th place finish; Rusty Helms from Oklahoma placed 13th and punched his ticket to the National Championship with The fifth slot goes to Wes Jones from Bentonville, AR with 14th place finish and Thanks to the Bella Vista Property Owners Association for allowing us to host another event. The Beach at Lake Avalon Project Construction has started on the new Beach at Lake Avalon. The beach will be completed late Spring 2018 and in time for a Memorial Day weekend opening. In addition to the beach, a new attendant building/concession stand is being built, which will include drinks, snacks and ice cream. There will be a sand volleyball court, picnic tables, horse shoe pits along with paddle boards and kayaks that will be available for rent.
