1 Connections A M E N I T Y A N D C O M M U N I T Y N E W S April 2017 Bella Vista s First Annual Golf Fest On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Bella Vista will hold its first annual Golf Fest Demo Day at the Tanyard Creek Practice Center, 10 Nature Trail Lane, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Bella Vista Golf Fest is a FREE event open to golfers throughout Northwest Arkansas. Six of the largest golf manufacturers (Titleist, Foot-Joy, Taylor-Made, Adidas, Cobra, and Callaway) will be showcasing their newest equipment and attire, along with ball and club fitting experts ensuring that golfers are playing with the proper equipment. Over 500 golfers are expected to attend Northwest Arkansas largest Demo Day. Along with the vendors merchandise, the Golf Fest will feature free golf clinics, a putting, hitting complimentary range balls, and drawings for prizes. Additionally, guests will experience the latest launch monitors, get to trade in old clubs and shop one-day sales at Bella Vista s 5 Golf Pro Shops. 2 Golf News and Updates 2017 Junior Golf Camp to begin late May! Mark your calendars for the 2017 Junior Golf Camp. The week-long sessions will be held Tuesday through Friday May 30 - June 2 and a second camp will be offered August Camp will be held at the Highland s Driving Range from 8:30 a.m p.m. Coaching and instruction by PGA Staff members who will go through all aspects of the game including golf etiquette. Sign up your junior golfer (ages 6 to 18) and pass along a game of a lifetime. The $100 fee includes 4 days of golf instruction with all the fun included! Bella Vista s Newest Golf Promotions Over the past several weeks the Golf Operations Team and Marketing Team, held two meetings with the purpose of developing six golf promotions. The collaborative efforts of the meetings resulted in the development of ten marketing programs designed for our Members and Non-Members. These ten promotions will run throughout the golf season with the first two promotions, Reply Special and the Twilight Special, being launched in March. Replay Special Play 18-holes at any of our six 18-hole golf courses and play another round of golf on the same day for cart fee only. Twilight 18 Special Play 18-holes after 2pm for $36 including cart fee. Super Twilight Special Play unlimited golf after 5pm for $30 including cart fee. These promotions, as well as future promotions, are intended to encourage more people to play golf on any of our six golf courses during non-peak times. Stay tuned for more promotions as we have created programs for a variety of golfers and interests. New Kid s First Golf Bundle Bella Vista POA is proud to announce the Kids First Golf Bundle. This program allows up to three kids or grandkids to play golf free any time after 12 noon, on any course, on any day. The Bundle is good for 12 months and can be purchased through the Member Services office. AGGF Plan Members can add this bundle for $100 and Bella Vista Photo ID Members can add it for $200. Kids must be between the ages of 6-18 and must be accompanied by the primary or secondary card holder. Share the game you love with kids you love! APT (Adams Pro Tour) is coming to Bella Vista! 2017 Cooper Communities NW Arkansas Classic - May at Highlands Golf Club In operation since 1994, the APT represents one of the best development opportunities for golf professionals to hone their competitive skills, while preparing for a life on the PGA Tours. Past players include Bubba Watson and Ryan Palmer. Just like the PGA TOUR and web. Com Tour, the APT offers a championship caliber pro golf event filled with the stars of tomorrow. This year s event will include practice rounds on Monday, Pro-Am and Long Drive Contest on Tuesday and a 72- hole championship Wednesday through Saturday. Local charities play a vital role during this year s event. They not only help provide the numerous volunteers used throughout the week, but also raise the funds needed to run a first-class professional event. All sponsor dollars pass through The Bella Vista Foundation ( with 100% of the net proceeds staying in the Bella Vista and NWA communities. We are delighted to bring men s professional golf to NW Arkansas and the Bella Vista community, says Gary DeSerrano, Tour President. Both Visit Bentonville and the Bella Vista community have embraced the tournament and we are certain this will be one of our most popular events of the season for the pros. Call Seeking Volunteers for Cooper Communities Northwest Arkansas Classic Volunteers are needed for the tournament at Highlands Golf Course on May (Wednesday - Saturday). Please keep in mind it falls on Memorial Day weekend. Some golf knowledge is required. 3 Controlled Burn Planned The POA, in conjunction with the Fire Department, will be conducting controlled burns throughout the area from March through April (weather dependent). Areas affected include the Bethnal Stump Dump and the Lake Brittany Dam. Other locations may be affected after inspection. After all age group hunts are completed, the Easter Bunny will once again be available for photos until 11 a.m. All children are invited to bring their bicycle and have a safety check completed by GPP Cycling, a Bella Vista bike store, who is co-sponsoring this event along with the Bella Vista POA. All bike riders are also welcome to try out the new bike skills park at Metfield, which was designed to introduce mountain-bike skills to new riders. Children s Easter Egg Hunt/Bicycle Safety Checks Saturday, April 15-9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Metfield Park, 1 Hilltop Drive in Bella Vista. All children ages 12 and under are encouraged to have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny, join in an Egg hunt, have their bicycle safety checked and try out the brand new Bella Vista POA bike skills park at Metfield Park. The festivities will begin with bicycle safety checks and the opportunity to have a picture taken with the Easter Bunny at 9:30 a.m. The Easter Bunny will take a break from picture taking in order to start the egg hunt precisely at 10 a.m. The Easter egg hunt will be divided into four age groups in four separate areas of the park. Group hunts will be scheduled in a manner so that parents of multiple children will have the opportunity to watch the Spring Bazaar April 22-9 a.m. until 1 p.m. - At Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Dr We are excited to announce the Spring Bazaar at Riordan Hall. Due to the overwhelming response to the Christmas Bazaar, we are holding an arts and crafts bazaar Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Up to 50 artisan vendors will be displaying and selling their hand-made items such as jewelry, stained glass, paintings, candles, specialty soaps, needlework, woodcarvings, collectibles and so much more. 6 Lakes News and Updates s Derby ing Kayak Fishing Tournament The popularity of kayaks is increasing rapidly here in Bella Vista, and a new type of fishing tournament has developed based on kayaks. Therefore, we are having our first kayak fishing tournament on the evening of June 3, More details will be forthcoming. The Bella Vista POA will host a kids fishing derby on Lake Avalon on Saturday May 27, Channel catfish will be provided by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. The event is open to children from 3 to 15 years of age. Parents providing assistance do not need a fishing license as long as the child reels in the fish. Kayak Demo Day Ozark Mountain Trading Company will host Kayak Demo Day on Lake Avalon on Saturday, June 3, The host will bring an array of kayaks for use. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to non-members. Heroes on the Water Heroes on the Water is a national organization that helps disabled military veterans unwind using the therapeutic qualities of fishing from kayaks. Participants receive basic kayak fishing and paddling instruction, angling clinics, and paddling classes. Participants with skill sets ranging from beginners to the most experienced paddlers are welcome.
