Notes from the Director Director s notes There are few events in life as exciting as opening night of a production. Musicals are fun and they bring together all of the arts in one program. This is the first musical to be staged at LP at the student level. It has been a long process since first deciding on the production over the summer. In a musical everyone s contribution is important. We all must work together for the greater good of the show. Auditions were held in October and between then and February; sets, costumes, props and staging ideas were in the making. As the first week of rehearsal finally arrived I was pleasantly surprised with the enthusiasm and accomplishments after just one week. With this being my first time in the director s seat, I knew there would be good days and bad days. Both came and went and through it all I am extremely pleased and proud of the hard work and dedication put in by the kids. They have a lot to be proud of being the first group to take on the task of a musical. It is with great pride and pleasure to be presenting this show. It is next to impossible to put on a show without help and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Christine Michienzi for being there every step of the way. Chris has been a huge part of making this show a success whether it be painting sets, running errands here there and everywhere, getting costumes together and managing backstage, she has been priceless in this process. I would like to thank Laura O Connor for sketching and painting all the scenes on stage. I would give her an idea and immediately she was on the set getting things together. Thanks Laura, what an artist! Thank you Tom Hoover, Michele Aird and Dave Bobbette for creating all the set work. Thank you Mountain Arts for letting us borrow various items from your collection. Thank you Dickie Mayers for setting up and constantly walking me through the lighting and sound. The sound and light crew also deserves special thanks. Trevor Blanchard and Kyle Abrams volunteered their time and equipment for this production. We couldn t have done this without them, thank you! Thank you parents and teachers for donating your time backstage and in preparing your kids for this experience. It has been a privilege to lead this group. Enjoy the show! By Jessica Bubniak
