2 Exalted Ruler Kathy Grant, PER Greetings Fellow Elks, Once again I m writing my Swan Song article. I have so many people to thank for my incredible year as Exalted Ruler. I must start with my advisor Dan Baccelliere, who has gotten me through many years as best he could. The Board of Directors and the Trustees are, without a doubt, the very best. Starting with Sean Williams (Leading Knight), Deven Parmar (Loyal Knight), Serina Tremayne (Lecturing Knight), Kena Liggins-Tompkins (Secretary) and Candis Hawkes (Treasurer). Board of Trustees: Dixie Sanchez, Nancy Estrada, Larry Diver, Tracy Bagdon and Diane Phillips. Also, Dan Baccelliere (Esquire), Mark Meyer (Asst. Esquire), Sherri Muro (Chaplain), David Hessler (Inner Guard), Ken Dufva (Asst. Inner Guard), Marty Trouillon (Tiler) and of course, Doc Sachen (Organist). You are very lucky having this crew running your lodge. The new officers will be taking over on April 1 st and they need each of you to make a commitment to them and to your lodge. A Big thank you to the Ladies of the Westchester Elks who have supported me and the Lodge this year. Also thanks to Mimi Muro, our office manager, whose help was invaluable. Also to our bar staff : Vinny Romo, Bill, Tara, Todd and sometimes Mike, the best bartenders in town. It s been a very exciting and rewarding year for me. Together we ramped up Thursday night Dixie Dogs, we had our 1 st annual Community Carnival, our 1st Family Sunday Movie afternoon and we hosted the Jolly Corks while still supporting our successful events such as the Car Show & Chili Cook-off, Major Project Swine, Wine and Dine Night, Law Enforcement Night, Monday and Thursday night football, Elktoberfest, Hoop Shoot and the list goes on. A big thank you to all who stepped up and chaired the events with their committees. As our membership has grown with 20 + new members this year, we still have some work to do bring in our old members who have strayed. If you have not been around the lodge for a while, stop in and say hi is the perfect time to reacquaint yourself to the lodge and meet our new members. You are missed. My last Thank You is to all of YOU who have supported and helped throughout the year. It has been an honor and pleasure to serve as your Exalted Ruler. 3 Hoop Shoot Competition 2016 The Westchester Elks hosted another successful Hoop Shoot at the local Y. We had many volunteers from our lodge to help organize the kids and serve as officials and judges. 3

4 Esteemed Leading Knight Sean Williams Greetings from the station of the Esteemed Leading Knight. Happy New Year members. I hope this message finds you well. We ended the year off in the right way with a well attended Tom and Jerry Xmas party on December 11th. Thanks to all who attended and helped with the production. On Friday March 31st, we will have our ER Kathy Grant's final party and sendoff to the PER realm for the 2nd time. Our ER has requested a superhero theme so start getting your favorite outfit ready. Call the Lodge for sign ups and details. In closing, I want to thank everyone for their support during my year as Leading Knight. Each one of you made a positive impact on my year and the success that was achieved would not have been possible without you. Again, Thank You. Be charitable to all mankind. 6 Esteemed Loyal Knight Deven Parmar, PER Hello Fellow Elks, I am amazed that yet another Elk year has gone by and we are preparing for our new corps of officers. Thanks to ER Kathy who worked so hard and really rallied the troops, as well as all of the officers and members who continue to improve our Lodge. It has been a huge pleasure working (and having fun) with all of you. Show your support for our incoming ER Sean Williams and officers by attending our installation on April 4th. I know he will continue the legacy of success here at Westchester. Remember the Great Elks Gatsby is on February 25th, so put on your roaring 20 s attire and come on down with your friends and family! 14 Betty Ford ~ President Ladies of the Westchester Elks Rain, rain, rain a glorious way to start the year! All things are fresh and new, including your LOE! As we put 2016 to rest, we now focus on 2017 and our biggest event/fundraiser of the year, our annual fashion show, which will be held on March 18, This year s fashion show theme is Some Like it Hot! - and we plan for it to be just that! We have a sizzling afternoon of beautiful fashions by Planet Chic, special vendors, door prizes, baskets to bid on, a lovely catered luncheon and much more. You absolutely must come!! Tickets are on sale now for only $40. You can purchase your ticket at the Lodge from Mimi or one of the fashion show committee members (Amy Morland, Luann Casillas, Christina Neiwirth, Angel Vanenzuela, Mimi Muro and Betty Ford. See our flyer within this Whisper issue. (BTW Nancy, thank you for doing such a lovely job on the Whisper!) Our LOE members Christmas party, hosted by the LOE Board was so much fun! There were 36 members in attendance, the tables were set beautifully, a traditional turkey dinner catered by Teddy s, was delicious. We donated an impressive amount of gifts to the Union Rescue Mission (thank you to Tina Corte for coordinating the project). We had a very short business meeting followed with entertainment by a great vocalist, Tony Dettore. He sang songs from the Great American Songbook and also some favorite Christmas songs, and we even enjoyed a sing along. At the close of this wonderful year let me thank all Elks and Ladies of the Elks for supporting LOE activities and allowing us to be of service to this Lodge and our community. I will be leaving on a wonderful trip, visiting Viet Nam, Cambodia and Thailand on Jan 28 th, returning on February 18 th. I ll miss you and the comfort of this Lodge. It will be business as usual here, and you can reach me via during that time if you need me.
