Our adult classes have been a highlight that continues to grow in popularity since its start in DG2 doesn t just offer a great place to take really fun and exciting adult dance classes, it s also a weekly gathering of dedicated ladies that have all become friends and part of our DG2 family. Our Adult Jazz and Tap classes are amazing and it s obvious why they come to class week after week. Plus, audiences love to watch them perform because they have so much fun and are doing something together as a team, that they really enjoy doing! Where else but at the DG2 are you going to find such a special place! Just like all of our dancers, the adult classes are preparing for our huge upcoming June show. Costumes are in and rehearsals are starting this month! It s hard to believe that our dance season is on the home stretch and our dancers are progressing and looking so great. Mom, Jamie Enscoe Buchholtz, has been dancing with us for 25 years and is also our fabulous program designer for our June performances. Now taking a baby break, Jamie has been a DG2 dancer since age 6 and we will miss seeing her dancing on stage this June show. But she tells us she will be back in the fall, tap shoes on and ready to go. Jamie told her newborn son that if it weren t for DG2, he wouldn t have been born. Yes, it s true. Mom meet her future husband, Jamison s father, Dustin, because of the Dance Gallery 2. Welcome Jamison! Each class has beautiful costumes and incredible choreography. Together our teachers and students are giving their all to make this year s June show over-the-top amazing! We know our show audience will be amazed and proud. Mr. Doug has been hard at work every evening and weekends building the set and props to enhance our dancer s performance. He is being assisted by one of our DG2 dads, Jesse Gwin, and also long-time DG2 friends, Tom and JoAnne Busch. JoAnne not only has been helping Miss Lucy with set design, she, Lee and Miss Erica have been helping Miss Lucy with the costumes and costume distribution. These are very challenging jobs, but we know our DG2 dancers and families appreciate these special people, especially when they see the results on stage! The Countdown Begins! Showtime is drawing near and CLASSES ARE LOOKING GREAT! The production number, Man of Miracles, is simply awesome. The DG2 choreographers and teachers have outdone themselves. The props and special effects are going to be breath-taking! Our audience is in for such a wonderful treat. Show nights are Friday and Saturday, June 29th & 30th. All June rehearsals, dress re-hearsals and performances will be at the Mesa Verde Performing Arts Center, located at 7600 Lauppe Lane, just off Inter-state 80 and Antelope Road in Citrus Heights. We would like to encourage our younger dancers who are not in the production number to come see the older dancers and their teachers perform in the Man of Miracles dress rehearsal on Thursday, June 28th. It s so exciting to see the production number in full costume and with all the special effects. Otherwise, they do not get the opportunity, since dancers are not allowed into the audience during show nights. RECITAL FEES/TICKETS There is a recital fee of $69 for each participant performing on-stage. This fee covers the cost of the theater, security, and insurance. With each paid recital fee you will receive 4 show tickets. Recital fees are due May 12th and will be withdrawn out of AutoPay accounts automatically. Additional show tickets and bepurchased for $16 each if you would like TICKETS Tickets will be available for pickup and/or purchase Starting June 4th PICTURE WEEK Monday, June 4th - Sat, June the DG2 studio. Dancers should come to the studio at their regular class day and time. We know that it can be frustrating or even confusing to have rehearsal times and days change. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Rehearsals are always loud, messy and full of commotion. Extra bodies only get in the way. PLEASE DO NOT BRING SIBLINGS OR FRIENDS TO REHEARSALS. They will get to see you perform on-stage in the show. Please make sure that all cell phones are on vibrate or in silent mode. Since seating space is extremely limited at rehearsals held at the DG2 Studio, we recommend that dancers be dropped off. For those parents who do stay, please keep voices to a minimum during rehearsals. Dahlia Dean Saturday 9:30 Class It is important and expected that all of our dancers wear DANCEWEAR to rehearsals. No pajama pants, denim shorts or streetwear, please. Dancers are special and should look like dancers. If you d like to order DG2 dancewear, order forms will be available at rehearsals. She started dancing with us as a quiet, shy little dancer and has blossomed into a beautiful young lady and helpful Student Teacher. Elena jumped into the program with both feet and showed all of us her dedication from the very start. She works with our Saturday classes and also our Thursday Technical Ballet class. Elena is a pleasure to have in classes, on stage and on our ST team! Mia Resendiz, even though petite, is definitely an example of big things come in small packages. She is one of the most dedicated Jr. Student Teachers on our team, showing up to her classes if even on crutches. Mia is a 4 year dancer and along with her family (including Aunts and Uncles), likes to be involved in the DG2 events. That s why she is a great role model for our younger dancers. 5 Rehearsal Schedule May 14th - 25th, 2018 Location: The Dance Gallery 2 Please check the rehearsal schedule carefully to see when your class will be rehearsing. With this change in the schedule, dancers no longer come to their regular class day and time. We have always found that putting our dancers into rehearsals early better prepares them for their big June performance. We realize that a change in schedule can cause some inconveniences, but the results are well worth it. 6 Parent Help 2018 We would like at least 2 volunteers per class. Please watch that dancers stay in designated areas and do not wander out of those areas. If you see a class or group of dancers without a volunteer please step in and help or ask other volunteers to help. Volunteers bring dancers to the backstage area, and do not remain backstage. Show times are 5:30 pm & 8 pm; I would like for you to arrive about 45 min before show time so volunteers are present when dancers are being dropped off. Please take part. There is a First-aid kit back stage, in the upper hall way and one outside on the picnic table. Here are some guide lines for volunteer duties: Help maintain low voices and good behavior among dancers. Please do not yell at dancers, keep voices happy but stern if needed. Remind parents to pick up their dancer(s) in the same location as they drop them off. Keep dancers together with their class during the entire show. Supervise restroom breaks as needed. Keep dancers in designated area and do not allow any wandering around school grounds. Watch out for any mischief, strangers or uninvited visitors. Protect school property - we are visitors and should respect the school. Dancers do not go backstage until their performance time or allowed into the audience show nights. Help line up dancers for their performance time (during the show and for the finale). Help get dancers to stage entrance and back, especially at end of show Help with costume changes if needed. Verify that dancers have correct costume(s) and all related items. Also all costume pieces and personal items should be clearly labeled with dancer s name. Verify that the dance costumes are uniform (i.e.; all dancers have white gloves, socks, no socks, etc.) Dancers are not to have messy snacks such as cheetos, chocolate, or any thing sticky at any time. NO GUM! Please clean up your designated area at the end of each show. Without the Parent Volunteers the show would not run smoothly. There are 300+ dancers in each show which means we need all who are willing to help and more. We THANK YOU in advance for your time. Tights (pink or tan) and ballet skirts (plain pink or black) for Thursday Technical Ballet 1, 2, 3, 4 and Pointe classes.
