May is here, spring has sprung! In spite of the weather April, was a good month for the club.

We also celebrated the Lenten season; we culminated it with a bountiful feast on Easter Sunday filling both seatings.

This is going to be a busy month mark your calendar: Cinco de Mayo on the 5 th, Mother s Day Brunch the 11 th, Ship Island Rendezvous the 24 th and the Race for the Case

Speaking of the House, by now most of you should have noticed a few changes that have been made in the Chart Room.

There is a stage set up with a PA system and mic if you would like to sit and play. We also have a hook up for any phone/mp3/ipod.

Get them to take advantage of our Membership Drive this year.

The Entertainment and House Committee hosted a wonderful Asian Night, hats off to Chef Jason and all the staff for a great meal. We also celebrated the Lenten season; we culminated it with a bountiful feast on Easter Sunday filling both seatings. The High School Sailing Draw Down netted $4,000 for HS Sailing. Please thank the following food sponsors: GYC, The Dock, Island View, Fallon s, Newk s, Hooters, Chimney's, Toarmina's Pizza and Treasure Bay. April also brought us our annual Crawfish Boil. Thank you, Steve and all who cooked, what a spread! I know I ate more than I should have. 5 Greeting the membership for the Easter Spring meeting was a festive array of table decorations of Easter pails filled with an assortment of candies and a chocolate Easter Bunny! Each basket represented a door prize handed out by our hostesses to raffle. They drew the winners at the conclusion of the meeting. Our hostesses were: Elaine Schmidtling, Dean Hunter, Sue Frentz, and Betty Lee. Our traditional Wine Time was a prelude to a buffet of Chicken Florentine and The traditional Catch of the Day with a Jumbo Lump Crab Sauce. Our own auxiliary member, Ms. Mary Ann Barkley, (a renowned coast artist) shared with us her Wonders of Watercolors. Including some of her paintings along with articles she had authored. Mary Ann graciously contributed two of her watercolor prints as additional door prizes. This month s bridge winners included: Sherry Trullenger and Candace Ozerden. Members participating in our bridge tournaments are increasing. New tables are encouraged. The Easter Bunny paid a visit to our annual Easter Brunch. Following the meal our guest children were invited to join in a traditional Easter Egg Hunt held at the GYC facilities. Special eggs were filled with gold coins and prize s valued in access of $400. A special GYC Thanks needs to go out to Ms. Wilda Switzer for her contribution in making this happen and for the happy children s faces. Additionally, we would also like to thank Tonya Rode, Dottie Long, and Katie Doucet for helping with the Easter Egg hunt. Our next program will be Wednesday May 21 st featuring CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates); a special volunteer group for abused or neglected children. Hostesses will be: Vicky Heath, Gail Crowell, Carolyn Foster and Sandy Morrison. Mark this date on your calendar to join us at the club. April was a fantastic month with several very successful events. Thanks to all the member participation! Mark your calendars for the upcoming May events; full details on each event in this Log. Also, we will provide details on our web site at e -blast and flyers posted around the club. The Tiki Bar is scheduled to reopen full service for the summer of 2014 on Friday May, 23 rd. It will remain open through Labor Day, it is the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the sunset. Speaking about spring and warm weather, brings me to a great thought of recruiting new members to show off our awesome club on the Gulf coast. My family and I, being members of the club, will start working on inviting friends and family members. I would encourage and challenge each of you to recruit and bring in 1 new member for proposal. I have been managing clubs for over 25 years, and can promise you this; with increased membership, comes plenty of opportunities to provide a sound future for our Club. If you need a membership application let us know in the office and we can either one to you or you can stop by and pick one up.
