The information above is presented for your information because of the significant change experienced in Central Office appreciates all the support given this past year, but the march goes on and we will need your continued support even more in THE SKY IS FALLING, THE SKY IS FALLING! The Delegates of 2006 approved whatever expenditure was necessary to address the heating and air conditioning problems encountered at Central Office, however it seems that our heat pump though not new is working as well as can be expected. Nevertheless the office is too cold in winter and too warm in summer. A review of the situation revealed the major problem to be the lack of insulation above the ceilings. There is absolutely no insulation anywhere above our ceilings at Central Office. Before insulation can be added the ceilings themselves must be repaired. They currently consist of old weathered, water-stained acoustic tiling, much of which is regularly falling from the ceiling to the floors. Estimates for the replacement of the ceiling materials with drywall sheeting are being obtained and a report of the full repair costs will be presented at the next Delegate s meeting. TeleService Needs Us TeleService is the AA Hotline when the Central Office is closed. Nearly 90% of the calls we receive are from people searching for a meeting or requesting information about AA. The remaining calls are from people reaching out for help for themselves, a family member or friend. This valuable service is run by volunteers with at least 6 months of sobriety. We are in need of dependable people willing to work a 4-6 hour shift once each week for a 6-month commitment. Substitute shift workers are available when needed. Service can be done from your home or cell phone. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions. TeleService will always need dependable, committed folks who can be available for 12-step work. When the hotline receives a call from someone reaching out, it is essential that we are there to help. TeleService uses a 12-step call list of men and women willing to answer the call of another alcoholic in need. By adding yourself to this list, you give the Hotline one more option for helping our fellows. This is an easy and effective way to give back to the program that has been so freely given to us. Please consider volunteering for our 12-step call list. For more information about TeleService contact Central Office at (916) I am responsible. Groups wishing to submit birthdays of less than one year must include them in the body of their Group News submission. 8 PI/CPC Meeting Minutes January 10, 2007 The meeting was called to order by Ivo V. at 7:09 PM with the Serenity Prayer. Young People s Committee Report. Aaron presented the changes for their brochure. The changes were approved. Aaron was in touch with a continuance school that wanted a speaker and we will supply literature to them. He advised us their committee can not take on new school projects until they are able to find more helpers. There is only so much time a person can take off work. Bottom line, we need more young people willing to speak at schools during the day. This is a great opportunity for young people to get into service. We still need young people to help Buster B. in Placer County. Older Adults Report. Maurine ed that she would be out of town for this meeting. Old Business. Kelley s report on getting notices in community newspapers was combined with getting business size cards with our Hot Line number on them for mass distribution. The final draft will be. Kelley presented to Chuck a 2006 book listing the top 25 businesses of many categories in the general Sacramento area. This is a complete text of who we might contact for placement of literature, speakers, etc. Chuck has already been working on businesses at this level. He is still working with the California State Highway Safety Department and has been successful in placing our literature into the McClatchy Broadcasting Company. Thanks to Kelley locating this book his job will be easier. Chuck has placed literature in the Fair Oaks Library and I service the one in Citrus Heights. There are about 30 more library s in the county that need sponsor s. I reported that I met Michelle an AA member that is secretary for a new meeting at Loves & Fishes. They have 3 meetings a week and no money as most of the people are homeless. I supplied her with the basic needs to have successful meetings. OurYoung People s Committee member Loren happened to have a coffee pot which she donated to their meetings. They meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 10:00 and are in need of people to chair. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM with the Lords Prayer. Ivo V. Chair Public Information Cooperation with the Professional Community AA Membership Information The above committee is known as PI/CPC and works in conjunction with CCFAA. While AA does not advertise we have ways to reach out to the alcoholic who is still suffering. We do this with literature just like what you see in the rack at your meeting place. There are countless locations in our area where literature can be placed and maintained. Just a few examples are: hospitals, schools, businesses, and libraries. We can use existing display racks or supply our own. Starting this year we have modified our method of distribution so that we can cover a much larger area and at the same time allow many more members of AA to do some simple service work. Most anyone can find a few locations close to where they live, work, or in between, that could display some of our literature. Once the literature is in place it only takes a few minuets once a month to restock the rack. Literature will be made available when needed. Think back to that day when someone reached out and offered you the hand of AA and the opportunity for a new life! Now you have that same opportunity to be that hand. The following is an item along with my findings that I received from Dorian: a) OP states the Office Manager shall publish the Agenda for all Delegates meetings. and, the content and order of the Agenda shall be the responsibility of the CCFAA Chairperson. This has not been getting done. The Agenda that I am pointing out is the following month s agenda which has always been published in the By-the-Way on the page preceding the Minutes of Delegates Meeting. Don t know why it s been missing for awhile now. It gives the delegates a heads-up and reminder for the next month s meeting as well as the fellowship at large. Old Business is already known and can be included, some New Business may be known in time for submission. b) Findings: I spoke with Rodney, the past by-laws chair and he informed me that this was stopped some time ago probably around If past By-The-Ways were checked it would be discovered that the "following month's agenda" has not appeared in the by-the-way for quite some time. It would appear that the agenda is a standard format and that most agenda items I have received from the delegates or others for "consideration" on the agenda have not been received in time for publishing in the By The Way and the agenda items are not finalized basically, until after the OOC meeting with the exception of old business. c) Additionally, there is nothing in RRO that says the agenda has to be published. The agenda is only to inform the delegates of what business we ll be doing that day. However, this does not mean that delegates can not submit items to the chairperson for inclusion in the agenda prior to the delegates meeting. 5. The Office Manger Beverly informed me that Peggy from Galt called and said that she would be picnic chair and will be at the January delegates meeting. Then I got a call that Peggy will not be here today because she has a prior commitment. (to be taken up in new business). (Peggy and I also discussed this at the 2006 picnic). Beverly also informed me that she would be going to Elk Grove Park to pay the deposit for August. The date of the picnic is august 19, She has paid the deposit. 6. Lynn has resigned as Teleservice Chairperson and Al, the past Teleservice Chairperson, will serve until a new Teleservice Chairperson is appointed. 7. I have asked Frank, the webmaster to assist Spooge, the new Treasurer, in presenting the Treasurer s report for this month only as he is most familiar with the program and the installation of the new balance sheet for example and the website in general. 8. I was asked about meetings and location not in the meeting schedule ( i. e. Stockton ). I. talked to Beverly(this was also discussed at the OOC meeting) about this and she informed me that meetings outside 75 miles were omitted from the schedule as some locations such as Stockton did not always have a central office and now there is one; additionally there is booklet (and some can even be located on the internet) with those meeting locations. 9. Suzy, the office assistant, has asked that all new CCFAA Officers submit their contact information as needed for their records. 10. Once again, I remind you that you are here to represent your group and to take information received here back to your groups. I encourage you to not just pick up the handouts but to read them and share them with your groups. For example, don't just pick up or listen as one reads the report. Take a good look at it. Ask questions and discuss it with your group and if you find errors or have questions make them known. or let your group know when we discuss improvements to Central Office. In doing so you become an extra pair of eyes because errors can be pointed out, it s true, but as we are not perfect we don t catch all the errors. 11. Finally, don t forget Central Office always needs help with the By-The-Way and flier mailings. So stop by or call to see how you can help your Central Office. B. Those in attendance at the OOC meeting: Beverly C., Frank D., William S., Mike K.., Dale M., Spooge, Steve H., Dianne T., Dorian G. 2. First order of business was the election of the 2007 O.O.C. Chairperson. Mike K. was nominated and elected to this position. 3. Next was the report of the Office Manager. The following items were discussed: a) The air conditioner is performing adequately. However, there is an immediate need to install insulation in the ceiling. Two estimates for insulation installation have been secured ($ & $684.00). One or more estimates are forthcoming. b) The ceiling tiles in the office are in serious disrepair and need replacement before insulation can be installed. Estimates for this work will be secured. c) Bathroom sink repaired by plumber and more work is needed in both bathrooms. Estimates for this work will be secured. d) Carpeting in the office is filthy and needs cleaning. Estimates for this work will be secured e) General interior repairs need to be undertaken (painting, wall repair, etc.) and estimates will be secured. 4. An outside vendor (ADP) provided the office manager with a payroll management plan. This was discussed and no action was taken. 5. A deposit has been made to secure the Elk Grove Park for the 08/19/2007 CCFAA picnic. 6. The CCFAA insurance policy covering liability, theft, burglary, fire, etc. will be reviewed and appropriately changed, if necessary, before the March termination date. 7. Frank D. attended the meeting in an advisory capacity to explain the year ending treasurer s report to the incoming Treasurer and introduce himself to the new officers. 8. There was some discussion regarding ongoing schedule changes as per individual group wishes. 9. The Office Manager s contract is coming up for renewal and will be handled in a timely fashion. D. TREASURER S REPORT Spooge - details of budget Questions and history by Frank D. 1. A report was given on recent concerns and new issues were brought to attention. Further discussion on line items of budget is to be continued next month. E. BY LAWS AND PROCEDURES: - DORIAN G. 1. I am currently working on some changes to the operating procedures and New Business to be discussed. F. TELESERVICE REPORT: - Al E. To make yourself available for an open shift, place your name on the shift waiting list, or call Central Office, Sobriety requirements for shift volunteers and 12 Step list is 6 months. Call Ivo at PI/CPC Committee Meeting: January 10, Young People s Committee Report: Aaron presented the changes for their brochure. The changes were approved. Aaron was in touch with a continuance school that wanted a speaker and we will supply literature to them. He advised us their committee can not take on new school projects until they are able to find more helpers. There is only so much time a person can take off work. Bottom line, we need more young people willing to speak at schools during the day. This is a great opportunity for young people to get into service. We still need young people to help Buster B. in Placer County. 2. Older Adults Report: Maurine ed that she would be out of town for this meeting. 3. Old Business: Kelley s report on getting notices in community newspapers was combined with getting business size cards with our Hot Line number on them for mass distribution. The final draft will be: If you want to drink, that s your business. If you want to stop, we can help. CALL ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS 24 Hr. Hot Line Kelley presented to Chuck a 2006 book listing the top 25 businesses of many categories in the general Sacramento area. This is a complete text of who we might contact for placement of literature, speakers, etc. Chuck has already been working on businesses at this level. He is still working with the California State Highway Safety Department and has been successful in placing our literature into the McClatchy Broadcasting Company. Thanks to Kelley locating this book his job will be easier. Chuck has placed literature in the Fair Oaks Library and I service the one in Citrus Heights. There are about 30 more library s in the county that need sponsors. 5. I reported that I met Michelle an AA member that is secretary for a new meeting at Loves & Fishes. They have 3 meetings a week and no money as most of the people are homeless. I supplied her with the basic needs to have successful meetings. Our Young People s Committee member Loren happened to have a coffee pot which she donated to their meetings. They meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 10:00 and are in need of people to chair. 6. Meeting adjourned at 8:35 PM with the Lords Prayer. Ivo V. Chair H. SPECIAL NEEDS Chairperson:- JAN P. 1. Well, as the Special Needs Chair I am unable to make it to CCFAA meeting on Saturday, I am currently having my own "special needs" since I went to ER last Friday and was admitted to have a gallbladder removed. I am home and recovering, however, unable to attend the meeting this month -- hopefully next month! My report is that there were no calls or requests for Special Needs since December (except my own, tsk, tsk). Thank you. In God's Service, Jan P I. BIRTHDAY CLUB - Lilly 1. Kimberly, the H&I Liaison was not able to attend the Delegate's meeting as she was at a Memorial Service. K. PICNIC CHAIR (written report) 1. Hello Everyone First off I would like to Thank you William for allowing me to serve as the CCFAA Picnic Chair and then to the CCFAA body for your support. I apologize for not being with you today but one of the members of our fellowship died and I am at his memorial service. I will be at the next meeting with flyers for you to take to you groups.
