2 WEF 04 JUN 09 Aerodrome Briefing Card 5-07 MAY 09 - LOWS / SZG W. A. Mozart SALZBURG lows0aorgy Navtech EAG -. GEOGRAPHICAL DATA. The AD is situated.7nm SWS of the city. The AD is located on the N side of the Kizbühler alps, close to the German border which makes that the approach area and part of the SZG CTR lies within German territory..2 The high mountains around the AD cre ate a basin which is open to the N only. Within 5nm to S there are spotheights up to 6500ft nm E of the AD, there is a hang-, paraand glider area. 2. WEATHER 2. The climate is continental with relative warm summers and cold winters. Mean MAX/MNM temperatures /+2.8 C and +.5 /-4.6 C in JUL/JAN respec tively. In general do not be surprised having slight tail wind on final RWY 6 until close to the ground. If possible check winds at ft before starting approach. 2.2 Summer. The weather is generally good with light cloudiness, a bit hazy at times, and with light winds, but possibility of turbulence on approach due to Föhn winds. An occasional front passage or CB activity in the afternoon does not de teriorate the weather below landing minima. Over the alps large CU and CB develop frequently but they never drift N over the AD. 2.3 Autumn and winter. N winds cause cloudbase and visibility to deteriorate to wards the S of the AD area ( Stau ) and precipitation (snow) to be heavy and of long duration. 3. TRAFFIC Open 4. MISCELLANEOUS Open 5.
