Both players exhibited all the qualities that were expected from two great draw bowlers. Lois eventually taking this year s title in a very exciting finish. Well done and congratulations to both players. Ken Derbyshire, and Dave Lindbeck. After a slow start our team picked up the challenge set to them by the City/Norths team, coming back to within a couple of shots with the last end to be played. As luck would have it, the Norths team scored another shot to take the title this year. The City ladies also took out the Women s CoCC title which made it a joyous but sad victory for one of Canberra s now defunct bowling institutions. Well done all players. Both games were played with the true spirit of the game and all spectators enjoyed the exhibition of great teamwork shown on both rinks. Finalists: M. Fawthrop and L. Waters Men s CoCC Triples While the Open Singles Final was underway at CBC over at Canberra North Bowling Club our club was represented in the Final of the ACT Men s Champion of Club Champions by Peter Kirkland, The lads in action, taken by Kate Lytte at NCBC

Breakup Day The annual Christmas-come-breakup Day will be on Wednesday, December 12 th. Bowls will start early, 9.30 am with lunch to follow, as there is a function booked.

Winners of the bowls in the morning to be presented with the Pegasus Shield, sponsored by Marcus Quinlivan. Come along and have a fun day. Names on the list at the club please.

Resurrected last year, this event is now one of the premier events on the BowlsAustralia calendar.

2 Breakup Day The annual Christmas-come-breakup Day will be on Wednesday, December 12 th. Bowls will start early, 9.30 am with lunch to follow, as there is a function booked. Please bring a plate of finger food to be shared with your fellow members. An envelope with a donation to Pegasus would be gratefully accepted. There will also be a raffle run on the day. Winners of the bowls in the morning to be presented with the Pegasus Shield, sponsored by Marcus Quinlivan. Come along and have a fun day. Names on the list at the club please. Off to Merimbula The best of luck to G. Young, L. Waters, and M. Bannerman when they travel to Merimbula to represent the ACT and our club in the Australian Championships this weekend. Resurrected last year, this event is now one of the premier events on the BowlsAustralia calendar. The winners in each of the disciplines, (Singles, Pairs, Triples, Fours) from each State playoff for the honour of the Australian title. The event runs 3 rd Dec 6 th Dec at Club Sapphire, Merimbula. We won the Flag!! The Grade 1 Women s Pennants team have won the Flag for the season. The Canberra team was running second on the ladder coming into the last round. Our game was against QRSLM on their home turf. We were lucky enough to score a rink win and a draw on the other. Meanwhile the front runners, Tuggeranong Black, were playing at home against the Queanbeyan ladies. Thankfully the Queanbeyan ladies still played at their best, winning both rinks, allowing us to do a Bradbury at the last moment. Well done. Although our Grade 3 ladies didn t take their flag, they did great to achieve third place against some very stiff competition. Well done too.

A jack at rest in the ditch displaced by a dead bowl must be put back to its former position by the opposing skip or by the marker. Q6. At the conclusion of an end, a bowl required to be measured is resting on another bowl which prevents its measurement. What shall be done to allow the result to be determined? A6. The best available means must be taken to secure its position, and then the other bowl may be removed. Q2. In a fours game may any member of the team appeal directly to the umpire about any point in dispute? A2. No. The opposing skips together must decide all disputed points. If they cannot agree they shall refer it to the umpire. Q3. When determining the result of an end may the thirds move a bowl out of the head before the total number of shots is agreed? A3. Yes. As the shots are agreed each shot bowl can be removed from the head. Q4. The marker in a singles game has been asked by one of the players to measure all shots during the game. At the conclusion of one end, before the players have reached the head, the marker has recorded the score on the score card and kicked the bowls out of the head. Is he correct? A4. No. No bowl must be moved until both players have agreed to each shot. Q5. All the bowls in a fours game have been played and the thirds agree that a measure will be necessary to determine the shot. One third wants to delay measuring as his nearest bowl is leaning towards the jack and may fall. Is this permitted? A5. Yes. Either team may delay the count of the shots for 30 seconds after the last bowl comes to rest if they so desire. No bowl which is likely to fall must be secured during that period. These days it can also reside on all mobile devices along with the Apple OS. Often hard to describe but I guess you can think of it as a digital scrapbook. It can collect information in various formats handwritten or typed notes, screen clips, images, audio and video recordings. But to be honest I only started using it when this great little utility came about called OneNote Web Clipper. This makes the program super useful. It embeds itself into your browser and then you just click on the icon to activate as you need it. Because it can clip parts or full web pages that you come across into your OneNote

library. Best of all it can reside in the cloud which means you can access it from anywhere. Including important notes for meetings, recipes without the ads, even bowls score cards are just some.

Using your phone s camera, it can scan receipts, bowls score sheets or other printed material, even text written on a whiteboard capturing them into OneNote, making them searchable or even converting

So all in all a super useful piece of software that is not so hard to navigate.

Office Lens can also scan business cards and turn them into contacts on your phone. So all in all a super useful piece of software that is not so hard to navigate. As another year draws to a close, and it's close to Christmas a useful present that can help some of us who just might be approaching an age where it is very easy to misplace things. Well worry no more, a piece of tech called "Tile Mate" is here to help. It s small enough to attach to your key ring so you never lose anything again. You can put one in your wallet, your bowls bag, passport cover, luggage etc. Plus the inbuilt battery lasts about a year and a app that connects to your smart phone. Best of all its cheap, about $30 but if you buy in lots of four it s cheaper even still. Members have enjoyed a couple of close Semi-Final games in the Men s and Women s CoCC Singles which were played at Yass late in July.
