I would like to thank everyone that represented the Black Diamond Gun Club for the Continental shooting League. The shooters who represented the Black Diamond gun club should be proud of themselves for the outstanding job they did representing our gun club. I would like to personally thank everyone who shot for team Black Diamond. Our members won something in almost every category. Bob Sadesk, Pat Manyon, and Phil Erickson showed up on Friday and performed the demolition work and tearing out the old floor. Bob Ballard supplied the Cedar boards and Bob Hankel supplied the donated plywood. It was discovered that there is a concrete floor underneath the wood floor that is in the trap houses. Something that was only known by some of our members who have been active participants of the gun club for a long time. The project was finished Saturday morning Members who I know worked on the project were Bob Sadesk, Pat Manyon, Phil Erickson, Mark Downing, Dan Schultz From Big Sky Construction, Andy Newell, Cody Ballard, I am sure that true to form I have missed someone and I apologize for anyone I may have missed. Everyone s help is always appreciated.

3 Black Diamond Gun Club RSO minutes The PITA season is underway now and going strong. Our first PITA shoot will be June 1 st and 2 nd. As always we will need all the volunteers we can get. Please, even if you can only show up for an hour or so, come out and lend a hand. There is always something that you can help with. It is a great way for you to meet other members of the gun club and for other members to meet you. We need help loading the trap machines, scoring, and help is always needed in the kitchen. If you can help and are planning on volunteering some time please let Marion Dukes, Pat Manyon, or myself know. There will be a small work party probably on Wednesday the 29 th of May to load the trap houses with targets. For those of you looking to shoot some CMP events. That should be starting with rim fire events in May and Garand Matches starting in June. We will post these dates on the Calendar once a schedule is set. Please check the calendar for upcoming dates. Thank You for being part of our community. Jim Bradbury Attendees Larry Gardner Jim Bradbury John Griffin Mike McCarthy Bob Sadesk John Griffin Neal McLemore Henry Sherwood Tom Ekberg Phil Erickson Bud Cross Meeting chaired by Bob Sadesk, 6PM start time. Pledge of Allegiance RSO monthly calendar circulated for RSO sign up. RSO meeting sign in sheet circulated. Bud Cross will RSO a Church group one Thursday a month from 7 to 8:30PM. The subject of an Archery Range was brought up. Areas that might work are the right side of Trap range 5 (next to the pistol range berm and behind the 200 yard range parking area. We are looking into both locations and getting material for a back stop. Projects for this year : Putting several inches of sand in front of the 50 yard berm and gravel out towards the 100 yard berm. Getting raccoon proof trashcans. Replacement of the first baffle on the pistol range. Squaring up the seating stumps on the rifle range and replacing some of the smaller ones. 4 Black Diamond Gun Club General Membership Meeting Minutes February 19, 2013 Black Diamond Gun Club General Membership Meeting Minutes March 13, 2013 The general membership meeting of BDGC was called to order by Jim Bradbury at 7:30pm. The Pleadge of Allegiance was the first order of business. Officers/Trustees/Members present: Jim Bradbury, Cork Carpenter, Mark Downing, John Griffin, Marion Dukes, Marilyn Manyon, BobSadesk, Bob Ballard, Andy Newell, Phil Erickson, Bud Cross, Larry Gardner, Merv Vincent Secretary s Report: It was moved by Jim Bradbury and seconded by Bob Ballard that the February 19, 2013 General Membership meeting minutes be approved as corrected. Motion Carried. Treasurer s Report: There is no treasurer s report due Laura s absence at this meeting. Committee/Member Reports: Merv Vincent: Grant Committee There are five or six organizations that award grants. The committee is making a list of items to submit for grants. The board gave him the list of items he had asked us to make. Merv reviewed the grants available to apply for, the Wildlife & Shooting grant is on hold this year, those available are: NRA national grant, due 8/1 Friends of the NRA grant, due 10/30 American Trapshooting Assoc., due 7/1 National Shooting Sports Foundation, due 7/1 FARR grant, due late June or early July, and given out every other year. 5 There was discussion about completing the grant for our security system. We will be purchasing four or six cameras for the pistol/rifle range. We are reimbursed when we complete the project. Phil Erickson: Women s Pistol Class We just had a successful class with 8 women in attendance that were very appreciative. Jim Locke would like to add additional classes as there are no alternatives for women we have to turn away due to the classes being filled. Insights offers classes but you must buy your own ammo which we are told makes the cost prohibitive to the women. Fundraising idea Wondering if there are others in the club that have things they no longer need and would like to donate to the club. If we have a member who could manage listing items on Craig s list or EBay and keep percentage of sales for themselves and a percentage given to the clubs treasury. Bob Ballard: CMP Rimfire Sport Shoot The committee has met and are proposing the following schedule for shoots. 2 nd and 4 th Tuesdays on 5/28, 6/11,6/25, 7/9,7/23, 8/13, 8/27. Depending on the number of participants 10:00 to 4:00. RSO s will be present; there are five on the committee. The cost is $10.00 per competitor. The target stands will be at 25 yards which can be used in other applications at the range. Flyers will be distributed by Mike McCarthy. We have five Cricket rifles which will be sighted in and ready for use in April. There was discussion to consider cutting the cost of participation to youth 16 and under to $5.00 instead of $ A motion was made by John Griffin to charge youth 16 and under $5.00, leaving the $10.00 cost to 17 and above. Motion Carried. John C. Garand shoot will be held at the 200 yard range on 6/16, 7/7 and 8/4 with a 10:00am start and continue until finished. This shoot is for carbine M1 Garand s as issued. There may be an unlimited shoot if shooters have modified Garands. 6

5 Discussion of leasing a honey pot for the summer to be placed in the 200 yard range area resulted in a motion by Mark Downing and a second by Bob Ballard. Mark volunteered to research the cost. Cork Carpenter asked if we want to consider a small fund to help defray the expenses for CMP shoots,ie; targets, target boards, shooters incentives and offer shooting discounts. Ammo can be purchased through CMP when they have stock. Marilyn Manyon: Muckleshoot Grant We had been aware there was a $5,000 grant available to apply for through Muckleshoot. Can we consider applying for it? It was stated there is a requirement that applicants have a 501 C 3 tax status. We are currently working on paperwork to file for the 501 C 3 status. Mark Downing: Annual Ammunition Order The Sportco Warehouse sale is happening soon so discussion of the order for Women s Pistol Class as well as for the range for the year was held. Bob Ballard and Mark will get together to determine how much to order considering current stock. Marion Dukes: Connie s Components Marion was in Yakima this past weekend and reports there are no primers available for purchase. The shot in stock now is $38 a bag; new shipment will be $39 a bag. Powder is not available. Reloading components are hard to get. Department of Revenue: It is possible that the state will institute charging sales tax on our targets that we purchase and sell to our shooters. They also can charge us sales tax retroactively for four years. Those gun clubs that were not paying any taxes will have to pay seven years reactively. They also can charge a use tax on money collected for options on the PITA trap shoots. This would also be charged four years retroactively. It may be prudent to put money aside to meet this obligation in case the state does initiate it. Mark Downing: Tax Bill Received a letter stating that the tax bill for targets has a longer life span-it is still viable. The Vancouver hearing that was set for April has been postponed to June 18. Retroactive payments did not get tossed out. April 4 is the date of a meeting with legislators in attendance at Evergreen. Those in attendance will be split into smaller groups delineating personal interests. Permanent Cover: Mark Downing is gathering bids for the cover over the picnic tables overlooking trap fields 3, 4 and 5. It is 40 feet of area to cover and $10,350 worth of materials. Labor donated by members at work parties. We will need concrete and gravel that is not considered in the prior amount. This project will be added to the list for grant requests. Tuesday Shooting Hours We have been open three Tuesdays and today we had 11 shooters with 39 rounds of trap being shot. Easter Egg Hunt We will need volunteers to help on Friday, March 28, beginning at 10:00 am to set up the hunt. When people arrive volunteers will be needed to hand out hot dogs, corn dogs and juice as well as the prizes the successful hunters. There will be between prizes. The helium for the balloons is on the site. The youth group at Andy s son s church is coming to help entertain the youth. Bob Sadesk: Rifle/Pistol Range Bob will go ahead and dig a trench in front of the 25 yard target stands. For the 100 yard line he will put railroad ties down with a berm up against them to protect the railroad ties. Law enforcement will use 25 yard target stands and 50 yard lines with berms. Bob will also check into the cost of laying sand in front of the 50 yard line and gravel beyond it and report back to the board. 7 Continued page 11 8

7 Freestanding wood stove Bob asked if anyone knew of a freestanding wood stove that is available. He would like to put one in the rifle pistol range for heat. Marion said he had one that is available and would donate it. Jim Bradbury has a 7 thin wall stove pipe that he will donate toward the installation. Transaction accomplished, now arrangements can be made to make it happen. Phil Erickson was drawn to win $7.00 from the kitty. Motion was made by Cork Carpenter to adjourn, seconded by Bob Sadesk. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned at 8:41 p.m. Next general meeting is scheduled for April 16 th at 7:30.
