EDITOR@THEBANKANGLER.COM VAN DIE OEWER / FROM THE BANK Welkom almal aan die derde uitgawe vir die jaar - en dankie tog staan ons einde se kant toe van die erge hitte en droogte wat die sterkste El Nino sedert wetenskaplikes dit begin meet het versoorsaak het. Die gevolge van die droogte gaan nog lank met ons wees kyk maar hoe styg die prys van mielies, seker die grootste bestanddeel van ons ase, om nie te praat van al die ander noodsaaklikhede nie. Die groter hengelgemeenskap word egter gekenmerk deur n dinamiese lewensuitkyk met n sterk, amperse ingebore gehardheid, wat sedert ons groot ouers ons land se visse in die riviere en damme met stok en katrol aangedurf het al hoe meer lewens aanpasbaarheid verleen het. So daar is groot hoop, vertroue en geloof dat ons hierdie jaar se vele uitdagings en ja, probleme ook! sal oorleef. Intussen stoom die oewerhengelaktiwiteite voort die onlangse SAVOF Hengelfees was weer n groot sukses (bl 76), en ons het begin met die Feeder Fish Off reeks, sê maar n superliga waarin uitgenooide hengelaars in n valbyl wedstryd mekaar takel. Oorsee vind soortgelyke wedstryde plaas, met die verskil dat dit daar ook deel van die weddenskapbedryf is en groot geld vir diè wat die wenners kies beteken. Dis iets vir die toekoms hier in Suid-Afrika! En daar is ook belangrike veranderings in ons Kompeterende Karpfaset, soos Gilbert Foxcroft, die faset se sameroeper, dit stel: Ons is nie net daar om deel te neem nie, ons is daar om te wen! (Lees meer op bladsy 67). Met die vordering in die elektroniese tegnologie kan ons nou ook n bykomende diens aan lesers bied, naamlik om dit maklik te maak om fotos wat tydens kompetisies soos die nasional kampioenskappe deur ons verslaggewers geneem word beskikbaar te stel. Wat jy doen is om op die nuwe webwerf, annecatphotography.photofrog.co.za in te gaan, jou foto en/of fotos uit te soek wat jy wil hê, daarop klik, jou betaling te doen en siedaar, jy kan dit aflaai en druk. So maklik as dit! So praat van fotos lesers het seker al lankal agtergekom dat ons nie alles kan publiseer wat elke dag inkom nie, so dit het die gevolg gehad dat baie fotos of nie gepubliseer word nie of eers baie maande later gepubliseer word. Van nou af egter word die normale aantal fotos van lesers in die tydskrif gepubliseer, en die res wat die maand inkom word as bonus fotos op ons Facebook blad gepubliseer. Dit geld vir alle fotos van volwasse lesers, terwyl fotos van ons kleinspan net in ons digitale uitgawe gepubliseer word. So as jy sien jou foto is nie in die gedrukte tydskrif nie, gaan kyk gerus op die Facebook bladsy of koop die digitale uitgawe. So kry almal kans. Nog iets - ons ontvang baie keer n foto en die leser vra dat dit in die hengelaar se verjaardagmaand gepubliseer word, maar elke keer is dit net n paar weke voor publikasiedatum ingestuur, wat natuurlik hopeloos te laat is. As jy so iets wil hê, moet die foto ten minste ses weke voor publikasie in ons inboks wees. Intussen geniet die hengel, and as always, Take Care! 4 - March/Maart THE BANK ANGLER
