THE RAGING BULL Season 2013 Volume 14 So Close Bulls! A dramatic end to both C Grade netballers and the Senior footballers at Jubilee Park on Saturday. Both games going down to the wire with the C Grade girls fighting a drawn match with the Stonekittens while the Senior Footballers had it won with a minute to go but a last ditch goal by Frankston YCW pipped them at the line. Good to see Chris Hay getting back to flying form kicking 5 majors for the Bulls, as commentators said on their broadcast of the clash It s not easy to go down and win at Jubilee Park. They fought valiantly all day and showed just how much of a force they can be when they re up and running at the business end of the year. Seafood Luncheon Make sure you buy your tickets for the upcoming Seafood Luncheon on the 3 rd August at the Karingal versus Mornington home game. 11:30-2:00pm. All you can eat seafood plus beer and wine with a guest speaker. All for $75 see the flyer in the Newsletter for more details!

The Bullpit is the venues for this Saturdays clash with Chelsea. These 2 teams met earlier in the season with the Bulls dominating all day across the board at Beardsworth Avenue. The Reserves the stand out notching up their first win in Season The Under 18 s will be looking to turn the tides on their opponents who narrowly beat them back in Round 5. For the netballers the Bullettes will be looking to continue on from the previous encounter which got them the points in both matches. In 2013 We are smart phone compatible so you can get all your Bulls News anywhere, anytime...know someone who follows the Bulls but doesn t get The Raging Bull? 4 The Week in Review Round 13 vs Frankston YCW The Under 18s were well beaten by a very talented YCW Under 18s outfit but not as bad as the previous encounter. Positives can be taken of the game and move forward to the coming weeks for the Under 18s. For the reserves, it just proves that one bad quarter against a top team can decide a team s fate. With just 3 points in it at Half Time, the Bulls had the potential to cause the biggest upset of the year but a 3 rd quarter lapse gave the Stonecats the edge but across the board the boys fought with the spirit that s just starting to come back to them. What a match it was, reigning premiers versus one of the challengers, it was the peninsula s match of the day and it lived up to expectations. However, a last minute goal by YCW decided the match between the two teams by 4 points. The game was played in high spirit and this produced the best football out of both teams. For the Netballers, while both A grade and B grade were beaten quite comfortably C Grades match proved just far they have come this season. The match went down to the wire just like the Senior footballers only this there nothing that could separate the Bullettes and the Stonekittens fighting out a draw. This week as they host Chelsea at the Bullpit A grade and B grade will be looking to turn their well beaten loss last weekend to a well earned victory this weekend. Go Bullettes!

Football Report Season 2013 Senior Coach Report Brendan Dunne The one that got away... The week started off with KB, Chara and LVR out from the side last week with the return of Peckett, Tullah and Bob Clements from Frankston. With the return of all their players YCW went into the game much taller then we did, so it was important to move the ball quickly into our forward line to try and open them up. We went into half time 3 goals down and with 3 of their goals coming from free kicks it was clear that we were playing ok football, but I thought we were letting ourselves down at times by being too slow and not pulling the trigger, taking risks and fumbling a bit at critical times. The second half saw us play maybe the best quarter of football we have this year, we ran the ball and moved it quickly, we got out the back and really opened them up. This saw us take a little lead into 3quarter time and the game was ours to win. The last was an up and down battle with momentum swinging a couple of times during the quarter and we got out to an eight point lead and with two late goals they stole the game from us. It was a good game and there are a lot of positives to take out of it but our momentum is a little too up and down during games and this is something we must improve. Mentions go out to Bobby Clements, he was fantastic for us all day in a best on ground performance he showed how much we miss his balance around contested football. Grant was fantastic and I thought took the honours ahead of Eames as the best big man and in a one out performance in the ruck he was very good. Cocky and Burke provided us with real targets and were rarely beaten in one on ones. And Paco and Dutchy were fantastic down back playing under sized and taking the honours on their opponents. This week showed we are a fantastic football side, it's about belief, work rate and the hunger for victory that has to all be there to have the ultimate success because this was a game we should have and deserved to win. Cheers Dunney

Racism, It Stops with Me! Everyone would remember the incident between Adam Goodes and the 13 year old Collingwood supporter at the beginning of the AFL Indigenous Round. Furthermore, would remember the comments made by Collingwood President Eddie McGuire only just two weeks ago. Racism, has not just been involved in Australian Rules football, but in sports across the world. Especially in sports where international players are a part of clubs. The Karingal Football & Netball Club takes a zero tolerance towards racially abusing or vilifying of a player, official or supporter based on gender, race or religion. Without these three components of a club and league, there would be no football to watch and there would be no talent from local level. Football is about having fun and enjoying getting together on a Saturday and playing with your mates, against your mates and meet new mates along the way regardless of who they are or what they believe in. So whether you are Indigenous, a person from another culture or religion or you are just a regular Australian. No-one should EVER be subject to racial abuse in Australian football and this needs to be stamped out of our game!

CLUB 44 - Honouring Justin Groves Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties. Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44 share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin s father and brother David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin. The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them. In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity, Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the warmth with which this club has been accepted. Even with Justin s passing he continues to have an emotional and tangible influence on the success of the Karingal Football Club CLUB 44 Winners: 2004 Ben Gothard 2005 David Measham 2006 Matt Jakobi 2007 Justin Peckett 2008 Steve Charalambous 2009 Robbie Clements 2010 Justin Farrelly 2011 Bevan Malloy 2012 Troy Hoad 2013 Package: $250 Paid by Round 1 (Club 44 Day), otherwise $275 Club Membership Entry to All Home Games Insider Regular updates straight from the coach. 4 Guest passes To allow people entry to game & half time as required C44 Corporate Hat Supplied by Blue Gum Clothing $80 Voucher To be used for drinks, merchandise or Pre Season Lunch / Seafood Lunch Tickets 1/2 Time Functions In Rooms for Showtime Attractions Park Club 44 Day Beer, Wine & Soft Drink Round 2 April 13th V Langwarrin 12 pm Onwards.
