3 RED & WHITE Expectations Spring is nearly upon us and with some luck (Not really Luck as all teams have trained extremely hard & dedicated their time & efforts to get to where they are) we should have 5 of our 6 teams competing in Football & Netball Finals Series A fine achievement. September is a Fantastic time to be involved with a Sporting Club & we all should enjoy the fruits of labour of the players, coaches, support staff & committee. Go BULLS! Remember everyone represents Karingal FNC and at this time it s important to remind all that this responsibility should be taken lightly. Whether you play for the BULLS on the field or support vocally from the stands there are levels of behaviours that will be accepted both at the grounds & courts and also at our Club Rooms & Social Venues. Over the last year we have had incidents that the Club has deemed unacceptable behaviour & these will simply not be tolerated The volunteers within our organization donate too much time, effort & passion to let damage to the brand that Karingal FNC is building. It is vital that this is protected for future Bulls. So enjoy the Finals but be tolerant of others Do not abuse Umpires, Opposition Players nor our own under any circumstances & remember to think before acting. Our Teams have great on field & off field Leadership & we must now replicate this as Supporters so that we can not only have success but also and as important, respect within the community. 4 Football Report Seniors: Karingal : Pines: POS TEAM P W L D B FF For Agst % PTS 1 Frankston YCW Karingal Mt Eliza Bonbeach Seaford Chelsea Mornington Langwarrin Pines Edi-Asp This week was our last game at home for the year and it was great to see all the past players up at the club! The boys took on Pines and jumped out of the blocks early kicking six goals in the first term. It was a tough day for footy because it was blowing an absolute gale. The skills were down for most of the day and it was fair to say the football was not the best to watch, but in saying that it was good for the boys to have a fight going into finals. Young Paxton had a fantastic game and maybe his best for the club he is turning into a good young player, Siba came in for his first game for the year and has put his hand up for this week and I thought that Tyquin was great early kicking a couple of goals. The journey begins now and injuries or no injuries the bulls will fight and fight. Hard strong football is what we need over the next 4 weeks Carn the Bulls Dunney

5 Reserves: Karingal : Pines: POS TEAM P W L D B FF For Agst % PTS 1 Karingal Mt Eliza Langwarrin Seaford Frankston YCW Edi-Asp Chelsea Mornington Pines Bonbeach The final round vs. Pines was a test of our ability to follow instruction and get back to playing our brand of football. Before the game we talked about the last 3 weeks where we have been poor and not playing to our full potential. We really wanted to dominate this game and to make a statement about where we stood come finals time. We dominated from the start of the game and our run and carry and dangerous forward line continued to shine through. Tim McEachern, Rhys Bartlett Quinn and Nick Shaw all played very well. We won by 100 points with our highest score for the year. It has been a fantastic year with some of the best Reserves football I have ever seen, but as we all know, the real stuff starts now, this is where all the hard work of the last 18 weeks will come through. Finals football is what we play for and we have a great opportunity to be successful. GO BULLS!

6 U18s: Karingal : Beaconsfield POS TEAM P W L D B FF For Agst % PTS 1 Narre Warren Frankston YCW Beaconsfield Mornington Karingal Berwick Seaford Somerville Frankston Bombers Today was to be our last game as we found ourselves 1 game out of the 4 and with Mornington having the bye unfortunately we couldn't get back in. A big last game too playing 2nd placed Beaconsfield so it was a good opportunity to see if we could of had an impact on the finals. We started well as the boys cracked in early and moved the ball quickly to set up Riley and Clements in front of goals. At half time we were just in front and looked terrific in our endeavor to win the ball. Cocker was playing a ripper in the Ruck and matt Burnett had his own footy in the midfield. Our third quarter was very ordinary as we took our foot off the pedal and were second to the ball as our intensity dropped right off and against a very good side it cost us as they kicked away to a 15 point lead at the last break. As we reassessed I challenged a few personally and they really rose to the challenge Bennett, Paxton, Jewell, Chris and Tom Matthews all went to another gear and we played some of our best footy for the year piling on 5 goals to 0 to run out winners by 15 points. It was a very proud moment to watch as these young men have grown over the season and really improved out of sight each week. Thank you to everyone at the club especially Digger, Leigh Gage and John Matthews as your support has been outstanding, I have thoroughly enjoyed the year. Mike Triep U18s Coach.

7 Massive congratulations to Chris (Cocky) Hay and Jason Riley on winning the Senior & Colts goal kicking awards respectively, Cocky being the 1 st Karingal player to achieve the feat and capping a remarkable comeback over the last 18 months

8 CLUB 44 - Honoring Justin Groves Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties. Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44 share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin s father and brother David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin. The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them. In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity, Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the warmth with which this club has been accepted. 9 Netball Report: A Grade Karingal: 29 Pines: 47 - Finished 6th B Grade Karingal: 40 Pines: 35 - Finished 3rd C Grade Karingal: 23 Pines : 35 - Finished 4th 2 from 3 BULLETTES Teams Make Finals! It was nice to start on a dry court last week at the Bull pit. Three severely depleted teams - due to injury & the running of Fabregas - stepped onto the court. C grade missed their third rotation in defense and struggled against Pines height in goals. At the opposite end of the court Kate moved the ball well in goals. Anna created much needed movement in the ring when she moved in to goals after half time. A poor first quarter let us down as the game was even from then on. Some re-grouping needed for finals, we know we've got it in us. B grade knew Pines was a danger game & didn't take the competition lightly. Angela's feeding into Sara & Emma in goals was brilliant. Laura "keep your eyes on the road Rhonda" Jack was brilliant in WA always providing a strong option. Kel & Jaime were reliable as always in defense & Kirst is always placing pressure on the opposition WA with hands over everything. A lack lustre fourth quarter nearly let the girls down but they hung on for a much needed five goal win. A grade were the only of our three sides with an interchange - luckily. Beck injured her ankle early in the first quarter & we were down one goaler. Unfortunately we couldn't gel all day and the Pines girls were much more hungry for the win. A bit of de ja vue set in - finishing fifth on percentage for a second year running. Good luck to all four Karingal teams embarking on their finals campaign today. 12 BMK Last Word Well the Home & Away season in done and we now enter the business end of the year, but not without some words of thanks for those that work tirelessly each week especially at home games. Whether manning the gate, in the canteen, running functions, cleaning rooms, timekeeping, set up & pack up, bar, runners, trainers and all other match officials YOU are the club and from all involved give yourselves a pat on the back. Frankston Park is always well attended by the Red & White faithful and with this Sunday promising to be great weather we urge all Karingal people to don the red & white gear and head to Kars St. Best of luck to the 2 junior teams competing in Grand Finals on Sunday as well the U11s play at 9.10am and the U12s at Langwarrin.just look for the Karingal marquee Also best of luck to Frankston Dolphins and Rovers teams competing in Grand Finals as well especially those coached by Mike Treip and Scott Frey After the game on Sunday all supporters are welcome back to Frankston RSL to unwind & debrief the day.
