8 Calivil 125 Years Saturday, 18th July As you may all have heard by now, the Calivil / Calivil United Football & Netball Club are celebrating their wonderful 125 year history. This is a day not to be missed at the Five Star Oval in Calivil, as we play our old rivals Mitiamo, and it will be a fantastic opportunity for all those who have played or supported the club, to come and catch up with old friends and reminisce the highs and lows of Calivil s amazing history. On this day the Senior & Reserves Footballers will be wearing unique 125 Year Heritage Jumpers. They are really impressive, with an emblem on the front that has been adapted from the old emblem which was once hand stitched on the player s Blazers in era. Additionally, the jumpers have listed on the front all the years that Calivil & Calivil United have won; Senior (31), Reserves (7), and Junior (19) Premierships. This is an impressive 57 Premierships in total. These jumpers will be auctioned, through a Silent Auction, which commences at 2.15pm in the Hall, and concludes at the Gala Evening Event. If you have a special number or jumper that you like, be sure to put in your bid! An official Welcome & Book Launch by Hon. Peter Walsh MLA will take place at 2pm, before the Senior matches begin. This will be followed with coin tosses for the Senior Games, with Mr Darby Illingworth (one of our oldest living football players & President) tossing the coin for the Senior Football Match, and Mrs Bev Wild tossing the coin for the A Grade Netball match (our oldest living netball player). 11 Pyramid Hill Netball Pyramid Hill vs Marong - June 20th 13 & Under: The sun was shining but the breeze was coo and Pyramid were off to a great start having all the attack against a much smaller opposition. In the second quarter we saw more great attack and accurate passing by Pyramid. Marong picked up the pace in the third quarter making it onto the score board. Pyramid were too good in the last quarter displaying some great team work to finish off the match. 15 & Under: Perfect day for netball as the girls took to the court. Losing by 12 last time, the girls were determined to win. Coming out on the first quarter our defence was strong, sticking to their player and coming out with good leads and passes, which helped them get over the line today. Final score: Pyramid Hill 46- Marong 25 Hampson's Mobile Sheep Dipping Award - Jessica Gunther 17 & Under: Emily took the court with a proud smile and an Umpiring Badge in one hand! Congratulations Em! The Pyramid Hill Netball Club is very proud of you. This positivity spread across the court as the goalers shot accurately and defenders worked hard in the ring. Marong was kept to only two goals in the first quarter. All girls worked hard and word on the street has it that this was their best game this season. Well done girls! Celebratory MacDonalds was the menu for the journey back to the Hill. Round 12 June 27th Calivil vs Pyramid Hill AWAY Round 13 July 4th Pyramid vs Mitiamo HOME Round 14 July 11th Bridgewater vs Pyramid Hill AWAY Final score: Pyramid Hill 47 - Marong 15 Pyramid Bakery/Cafe Award - Rebecca Kellett C Grade: Not our worst score margin, but certainly not our best game. We just couldn't get those goals in! Final score: Marong 31 - Pyramid Hill 8 Award: Kelly Gould B Grade: In a late night start, Pyramid came out firing in the first few minutes. However, Marong stepped up the pace halfway through the first quarter and continued to increase their lead throughout the rest of the game. Chelsea and Georgina worked tirelessly through the midcourt chasin up loose balls. Unfortunately too many lost opportunities were wasted and Marong took the game away by 18 goals. Pyramid Hill 32 - Marong 50 Award: Lauren Moon A Grade: Pyramid Hill got off to a solid start with the attacking end combining well and or defence putting the opposition under pressure to hold Marong to single figures at the half time break. Pyramid continued to dominate in the second half with lots of clear passages of play to come out with a big win. Congratulations also to Jaime who is now Badged in the netball world! The Pyramid Hill Netball Club congratulate you and are very proud! Well done. 12 Pyramid Hill Football Report Pyramid Hill vs Marong Under 18s Coming up against the top team in Marong, the boys started the game strongly with scores relatively even for much of the first half. Webby went down following a courageous mark and the team lost all momentum and falling behind by 4 goals going into the last quarter. Our young boys continued to fight the game out in the final term but were unable to put on enough scoreboard pressure to eventually lose by 25 points. Best players were Hugh Miller who played his best game for the season, Stevie, Josh, Mitch Dingwall who was back for his first game of the year in the 18s and Ant who played a great game against a much taller opponent. We wish Webby a speedy recovery and we hope to see you back on the field soon! A big thank you to Robert Stone for his kind donation of soft drinks to the U18 boys on Thursday night, it was greatly appreciated. Pyramid Hill 5.6 (36) def by Marong 9.6 (60) Goal kickers were J Ryan 2, M Dingwall 2 and B Pickersgill Best Players were Hugh Miller (Millers Ag Supplies Award), Steven Gunther (Pyramid Hill Bakery Café Award), Mitch Dingwall (Special Award), James Ryan, Anthony Meulendijks, Dylan Moon, Zac Dingwall and James Kervin. Reserves The reserves for the first time all year had a full list to pick from and would need it to take on ladder leaders Marong. The boys started well through the hard work of 2 first gamers in Dogs Hammond and Timmy Waller who provided great run. With no more than a few goals in it going into the last quarter the boys were urged to lift and continue to work hard, unfortunately we just couldn t get over the line. All in all it was a great effort from the whole team going down by 35 points against a quality Marong side. Pyramid Hill 4.3 (27) def by Marong 9.8 (62) Best Players were Shannon Hammond (Bridge Hotel Award), Tim Waller (Victoria Hotel Award), Ryan Eddy, Matthew Scott, James Ritchie, Mitchell Dingwall, Matthew Moon, Justin Moon, David Mann and Nathan MoonBest Players were Shannon Hammond (Bridge Hotel Award), Tim Waller (Victoria Hotel Award), Ryan Eddy, Matthew Scott, James Ritchie, Mitchell Dingwall, Matthew Moon, Justin Moon, David Mann and Nathan Moon Seniors In our first game back from the bye the game was evenly contested throughout the first half with Fitzy leaving the field early in the first quarter in preparation for this week s locker talk, leaving us a man down for the remainder of the game. The 2 nd quarter saw Nick Dundon play a different role and run through the midfield, even managing to push forward and kick 2 timely goals to allow us to be 16 points up going into half time with Marong keeping us in close touch. After the break the boys came out firing scoring 8.1 to 2.1 in the 3 rd quarter following great defence from Jimmy and Dyl taking many intercepting marks and great run through the midfield from Bryden and Ando. Accurate kicking at goal by our boys saw us kick a further 5.1 in the final quarter to run out 77 point winners on a cold day at Mitchell Park with a great team effort which saw 10 players kick a goal. Bryden again had a great game to be named best on for the 3 rd time in a row. Pyramid Hill 21.5 (131) def Marong 8.10 (58) Goal Kickers were P Grayling 5, J Wishart 3, B Morison 3, L Davies 2, F Brancantisano 2, N Dundon 2, J Anderson, D Bzenic, B Fawcett and B Singh Best Players were Bryden Morison (Bridge Hotel), Jarryd Wishart (Victoria Hotel), Liam Bartels (La Piazza), Dylan Morison, Brad Fawcett, Nick Dundon, James Fox and Patrick Monaghan. Save the date! ** August 1st ** A massive thank you to everyone who kindly donated and supported our Goods and Services Auction this year, it was a successful evening and we greatly appreciate the work of Luke and Jamie Nevins of behalf of FP Nevins and Co in conducting our auction.
