1 DIABLO BOWMEN Diablo-Bowmen.org Oak Hill Ln, Clayton, CA President s Message By Angel Yarnell, President" Hello Diablo Members: To change things up a little I am going to leave you with a poem written by Diane Chitticks and I ll save my message for next month s newsletter. Enjoy Diablo 900 Update July's 900 round is in the books. Some of the highscores are Pat Miller with 861 and Jon Moss with 843. You can look on scorecard ( goo.gl/gbsahg) for the rest of the score. Come on out and give 900 a try. Our next event is August 30th. Registration from at 8:00 to 9:00. Shoot starts at 9:30. Give me a call if you can make it. Contact Cleon Winter at All things bright and beautiful All archers great and small I thought I was wonderful But I'm no good at all I got books from the library With help from Len and Ron I wouldn't really mind too much If I got my arrows on. I went and bought a new bow A quite good one at that I practised in the garden I missed and hit the cat. My arrows fly off to the left And sometimes to the right I can't find my anchor point I've searched all day and night. I try to be like others And always do my best It's really quite a good sport Does wonders for your chest. I travelled to gobowen I was sick with fright I didn't do too badly I shot and got worst white. One day I'll get better And get the perfect end It's made mummy penniless And driven her round the bend. I want to be an archer And strive to find my style I find I'm often thinking Is it really worthwhile? The one-day I made it Watched by Len and Vi I won the handicap western I think I'm going to cry Thank you all for listening To my tale of woe If I don't get my first class I'm off to sell me bow All things bright and beautiful All archers great and small I know I'm not that wonderful But I'm not that bad at all... 1
2 Range Report by Pat Miller, Vice President" August work party. Weed eaters were blazing on the Dixon round. Thanks crew. Poison oak was sprayed throughout the Regalia and Dixon round. Target 10 has been moved and now meets the safety committee requirement. The 80 yard markers have been reset The 80 yard target is now 20 yards back from where it was and the shoot markers have been moved forward. Target 18 back stop foundation was started. Wednesday 8/6, Brian S and son Brandon brought up Bobcat to drill all the foundation holes on Target 18. Thanks again for helping out. Lots of back breaking work, especially on the jack hammer. Thanks to all members who helped out and special thanks to Sharla and her crew for the wonderful lunch. The Winter Shack is looking very nice. Check out Cleon s custom weathervane. Thanks for all the work Cleon. Special project white picket fence by the women s outhouse has been removed (thanks Brian S) and waiting for replacement of Cedar split rail fence. 3 Outreach Program by Kent Swindell, Membership Chair" I would like to thank all those who have helped with scouts and other classes we have held. We had 20 brownies and leaders on July 15th. The leaders and brownies learned to shoot in a fun and safe manner. We started out with frowns and shyness, but that all ended with the first shot of an arrow. By the end of it all there were smiles and thank yous all around. W want to thank all those who were there to help: Erin Pilkey Joey Goodner Brandon Peterson Joshua Peterson Scott Peterson Thor Skonnard Bruce Jordan Dave McHuron Randy Cullar On July 25th, we had 8 employees from Acquia for a team building outing.
