8 Dr. Suttie Golf Tip of the Week Ladies Tip: Becoming a Better Pitcher I see many ladies throwing away shots around the green with their pitching wedge or their sand wedge. Many of you skull it over the green or hit the ground first and hit it fat.if this sounds like you around the green LISTEN UP. (1) Choke down on the club(2) Narrow your stance and stand very close to the ball, (3) put 60% of your weight on your front leg and keep it there throughout the entire pitching motion. (4)Take the club back to 9 o clock with very little wrist cock. Bring it down with the turn of your shoulders, chest and lower body.(5) Hit down on the ball with the hands ahead of the ball at impact. Don t get wrist and flippy at impact.(6) Keep turning as you extend both arms to 3o clock. If you have a flat left wrist at impact you will be the best pitcher at the club. Men s Tip: Get More Distance Through Resistance Gentlemen are all trying to outdrive your buddy. Well, here s how! Bend forward in your normal posture some 35 to 45 degrees. Keep your arms very close to your body on the backswing as you resist the movement of the legs. It is this resistance of the lower body that creates the COIL that produces that clubhead speed you are looking for. The less you move your legs on the backswing and the more you coil your shoulders around the stable legs the longer you will hit it. You may out drive your buddy but don t enter any long drive contests yet.
