2 ASCC Board of Directors January Message The Alta Sierra Country Club Board of Directors wish you a very Happy New Year! Plan on attending the 2019 Annual Membership Meeting on Monday, January 28th. All members of ASCC are invited. Topics will include the recap of 2018 and thank the outgoing board and welcome in the 2019 board. A lasagna dinner will be available prior to the meeting. Check out the flyer enclosed for more information. Also on those cooler, mild, and no rain in the forecast January days, grab your clubs and enjoy a day out doors. We are looking forward to 2019 as a year where we come back together as a group. We have more members now and anticipate playing like a team every Thursday and incorporating some fun golf games into our play. There are also lots of tournaments scheduled by other Northern California Women s Nine Hole Golf Association courses and we plan to participate as much as we can.

5 THE GOLF SHOP by Brian Glosser, PGA sessions in the simulator for $10. When you purchase this, you will receive a sleeve of any brand of ball you choose out of our current selection. Sign up in advance! As we roll into 2019 we believe that Alta Sierra Country Club is headed in the right direction! The golf course is in great shape and the vibe is good. The Alta Sierra CC golf staff would like to thank you for a great 2018 and look forward to the coming year with you! Don t forget to stay active this winter We have a few things along with golf itself that we would love for you to take part in: -Indoor/ Outdoor Putting League Start Date: January 10 th - February 28 th at 5:30pm (Thursday s) Location: Banquet Room/ and or Club House Putting Green Entry Fee: $150 for team ($75 per player) Call Golf Shop for more details! -Closest To The Pin Challenge on Golf Simulator and must Beat the pro (Golf Shop) -Hole In One Challenge on Golf Simulator (Golf Shop) -With our new full swing golf simulator in the golf shop rain is not an issue when wanting to hit balls this winter! We are selling 20-minute *Reminder; we have golf instructional programs along with private lessons *(Rain or Shine)* to all members and guests throughout the Fall, Winter, and Spring. Our programs consist of: Saturday Junior Golf Academy 1:00pm 2:30pm Wednesday Tips and Sips 4:00pm 5:00pm Thursday Encourage Ladies to Play Golf (Men Welcome) 12:00pm 1:30pm (Starting in March: Playing Lessons with the Pro 6-9 Holes) Please sign up in the golf shop or Call us directly for more information. *New grips for your clubs, new spikes for your shoes? We have them and we can install for you! This is the time to get your equipment tuned up! We have new merchandise in the shop and more to come for 2019! Stay active in the golf shop and look for great deals for our ASCC members! Monterey Club, Adidas, Puma, and Greg Norman to name a few! We also have Brand New Bag Tags for members and guest in the golf shop! Golf Pro Tip: Hitting your long Irons 1. Let the club catch up to your hands at impact. This will increase the loft at impact and give your ball more air allowing you to stop the ball on the green. You will lose some distance using this tactic with your shorter irons but you will have more consistency with your longer irons. Make sure you don t go too far and let the club get in front of your hands. This will cause the ball to go too high and you will find yourself hitting the ball skinny from time to time. 2. Use a hybrid club. Hybrid clubs are often designed to give you more loft while maintaining your distance. Now don t go out and purchase a hybrid today. Make sure you head down to your local golf store and try a couple out first. 3. Increase your club head speed. This way you can keep the swing you have but increasing the speed of your club will allow you to get the ball in the air like the pros. This method will allow you to increase your distance and allow you to control the ball on the greens. It will take time to master but will really improve your game.
