5 Upcoming Events 2010 SIR BRANCH 125 BARBECUE AT SANTA CLARA ELKS CLUB, JULY 20, 2010 Our annual barbecue will again be held at the Santa Clara Elks facility. This date is the third Tuesday of July, the regular day for our luncheons. The location is at 1680 Martin Avenue, in Santa Clara. The Elks have a marvelous outdoor barbecue facility and the tables are all under a roof. A number of Elk members are also members of Branch 125 and make it possible for us to use their facility. Prior to the barbecue, there will be a golf event at Blackberry Farm, in Cupertino. Saul Miano has organized this event and will be selling tickets for golf, separate from BBQ tickets. Wives, ladies, and guests are also invited to participate in golf. Tickets for the barbecue will be sold at both the May and June regular luncheons by Bob Shields, Ed Murphy and Ed Linn; the price is $20 per person. For this price, you will have generous servings of tri-tip steak, baked beans, cole slaw, Italian sausage, and sour dough bread, plus draft Michelob beer, white and red wines, soft drinks, and bottled water. A number of games will be organized by Chuck Roberts including bridge, cribbage, Montana Golf, and horseshoes if there is interest. We can always use the help of volunteers to set up tables, assist in serving, and help with clean-up of the facility before we leave. Just let me, Bob Rung, know that you will be there to help; set-up of tables will begin at 9:30 AM. Happy hour will begin at 11 AM and lunch will be served, cafeteria style, after the golfers arrive, usually by 12:30 PM There will be a surprise award ceremony as well. Remember to bring your tickets! Chefs are Gene Plevyak, John Figini, and John Feemster; Bob Shields will bring that marvelous Italian sausage from his favorite place in San Jose, to be served prior to lunch. Bob Rung, Barbecue Committee Chairman All SIR Day at the SF Giants Our day at the San Francisco Giants this year is Thursday, July 29, and our opponents will be the Florida Marlins. It is again a 12:45 PM start, and you can watch our State President, Buck Kendrick, throw out the first pitch. Ticket prices are: Lower Box $34 View Box $23 View Reserved $17 LF Bleachers $17 Chuck Roberts has already placed the ticket orders he took at our March luncheon so that we could again get good seats. If you missed this opportunity you may order on your own and hope for the best. Computer Club The Club interest is expanded to cover other devices as well as maintaining a forum for problem discussions on computer operations. We especially invite those having capabilities in computer software and hardware that are willing to help those less informed. Sharing your skills would be a great contribution. The Club meets at the Saratoga Senior Center, Allendale Ave. (near City offices) in Saratoga the Thursday after the regular meeting. We begin at 3:00 PM and go until about 5:00 PM. If you have a specific software program of interest, we would like to schedule a discussion in future meetings. Please your comments, suggestions, and especially interests to feemster@sbcglobal.net.
