The summer season is upon us and with it has brought an unusually heavy amount of rainfall. That being said, the course loos great and is playing wonderfully. Continued thanks to Chris and his staff for all of their efforts with the golf course and the daily conditioning. What a super summer of Junior Camps this year. Record number of participation and both were rain free. It s so nice to see the smiling faces and the energy that abounds during camp weeks. To Graham and Craig, thanks as always for your leadership with the camps. Hope all you parents and grandparents encourage all of our juniors to get out and play. It s a game for a lifetime. It s been great to see so many new members joining us for our social events at the club. As I have said before, thanks must go out to the marketing and social committee s efforts in expanding the number and variety of events for everyone to enjoy. This month we have our Toast to the Coast social hour on Friday, August 3 rd from 5:00 7:30 pm and then on Friday, August 17 th, we invite you to join us for our Owner/Member Italian Night dinner. Cocktails will be from 5:30 pm and dinner will begin at 6:30 pm. Please don t forget to call ahead and make your reservations. Please remember that for the most up to date information on upcoming events, visit the clubs website sapelohammockgolfclub.com. A special thank you to all of the owners, members, committee members and volunteers who s passion and commitment help make Sapelo Hammock Golf Club better every day. 3 From the Course: With summer temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms continuing, the golf course is responding and conditions are steadily improving. We are heavily dependent on rain and thankfully we have been blessed with plenty so far this season. August will be weed control month. You will see signs of post emergent spraying done throughout the course. Nut Sedge is our most prevalent summer weed, however it is fairly easy to control. Our program is to treat the center line for weeds and re-grow any bare areas left as a result. Thanks to all of you who have volunteered recently. The trimming around ponds and trees really makes a difference in the presentation of the course. Equally important, the filling of divots. If you are interested in helping us on our next work day, please contact Lou Fuentes, from the Grounds & Greens Committee.
