Judd s & Jackson s Casual Dining will resume its regular hours on Tuesday, April 2nd. Please check your for weekly updates and special events. Our new warm weather menu will be available Tuesday, April 30th. New this year - Kids Eat FREE on Sunday - not available on holidays. Spring Mill Country Club will be offering two Easter Buffets on Sunday, April 21st. Choices for dining include: Brunch 10:30am-2pm and Dinner 2pm-6pm. Please call to make your reservations. Wednesday, April 10th will be our famous Be Our Guest Day. All day specials including carts, golf and a buffet lunch for $60 each per member and guest. Tee times should be made through the ProShop. If tee time is scheduled after 12:30pm, please plan to have lunch prior to your round. Buffet will close at 4:30pm. We will be having a DJ on Saturday, April 27th from 7-10pm. Shotgun 9:15am Saturday, April 13th Sign up in the ProShop DEAR MEMBERS: This golf season we are trying something new at Spring Mill. We will be allowing Full Golf Members to use their own push carts during normal walking times on the golf course. I am sure this will be met with mixed feelings. I look at it as an added value to their membership for those who like the exercise of walking a round of golf but can not or do not want to carry their own bag. I do not see it as any detraction from the country club experience for non-walkers. The following outlines the push cart program for 2019: 1 OR 2 As there were the last couple of years, Spring Mill push carts are available for daily rental for $ Seasonal Trail Pass Full Golf Members only $200 Trail Fee per person payable in the golf shop (cash, credit card or member charge) May use an approved push cart anytime walking is permitted (Dec., Feb., Mar. - after Noon; April thru November - after 1pm) Anyone signing up for the program in 2019 may use their existing push cart as long as the cart meets the standards set by the club Push carts must be of high quality and good working order to be approved the old-fashioned pull cart will not suffice! New! Push Cart Option NO electric or motorized push carts let s see how this goes first Beginning in 2020 any new sign-ups for the Seasonal Trail Pass program must purchase their push carts through the Spring Mill golf shop offered through the Bag Boy brand Push carts should be kept at least 10 yards from any green and 5 yards from any tee box or hazard Anyone causing harm to the course with use of their push cart will have their privilege revoked Push carts will NOT be stored by the club and the club bears no responsibility for any push carts brought onto the property These are your two options if you enjoy walking but do not carry your own bag. To be clear, you may only use your own push cart if you have paid the Trail Fee. Also, there will be no walking or push cart use for tournaments or League. Finally, as all walkers are required to do, please check in with the golf shop before heading to the first tee. I encourage you to contact me with any questions or concerns. 3 SPRING MILL COUNTRY CLUB TALKING TURF It s almost time for the 2019 golfing season to get started. Unfortunately, no one told mother nature. This winter we saw a little below average snow but the rain was plentiful. This was a continuation from last fall where it seemed we received rain every three days. Either way, it is now April and the warm weather will be here eventually. We left off last year with the construction of the new driving range between hole numbers 2 and 17. With the exception of paving the new cart paths, which should be completed in the next 3 weeks, the project wrapped up with seeding and strawing around Thanksgiving. We were hoping for a mild winter and early warm up this spring, but that didn t happen. This now leaves us with the tee and chipping green complete and just about ready to go with the main part of the driving range straw covered with no turf just yet. We will need the soil temperatures to get above 54 degrees consistently in order to get the seed in the ground to germinate. Patience is going to be required moving forward since we are once again at the mercy of mother nature. When we do get turf cover and feel we are able to pick the new range we will have it open. In the meantime the old range will be utilized. What is next you ask? When the new driving range was designed by architect Tyler Rye he was also asked to come up with a Master Plan for the club. This included the redesign of the 10th hole to make room for the new development. I know many of you have been asking what is the plan for the 10th hole, especially after we removed some of trees on the left. The tees will be redirected to the left as well as a new forward tee will be added. The fairway will be moved to the left with the left side of the new fairway being about where the cart path is now. The left fairway bunker will be removed and will now be fairway. The fairway bunkers on the right will be moved a little left and closer to the tee. The green will remain the same with the exception of the left bunker is to be removed and turned into a larger approach. The new cart path will be following the tree line on the left and cross the creek in two spots leading you to a new turn around at the 10th green. This work, as well as some bunker and tee work, is scheduled for this Spring and will be completed by the George Ley golf course construction company. I am very much looking forward to the new changes and believe these improvements will enhance the golf experience to you the members and your guests for years to come. NEW this season LADIES NIGHT Tuesdays - 4-9pm starting Tuesday, April 9th $5 WELL DRINKS $5 HOUSE WINES $4 DOMESTIC BOTTLES RECIPE OF THE MONTH From our chef Oscar Tinoco Jewish Apple Cake Ingredients: 3 cup flour ½ tsp salt 2-½ tsp baking powder 2 cup white sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 4 eggs ¼ cup orange juice 2 tsp. vanilla extract 3 apples (chopped and peeled) 2 tsp. cinnamon 5 tsp. sugar 1 Preheat oven to Grease and flour a bundt pan** 3 Beat eggs until yellow 4 Add sugar, oil*, and vanilla and mix until well creamed 5 Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined 6 Stir in grated apples until blended throughout. 7 Combine cinnamon and brown sugar in a small bowl 8 Pour half cake batter into bundt pan 9 Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over batter. 10 Run a Knife or spoon through the cinnamon mixture and batter to create swirls 11 Repeat with remaining batter and cinnamon mixture 12 Bake at 350 for 90 minutes. 13 Test cake by poking in the center with a toothpick. Toothpick should come out clean when cake is ready to remove from oven 14 Cool cake completely 15 Run knife along sides of pan and turn out onto a large round plate or cake stand Add sour cream and nuts optional LIKE US ON SOCIAL MEDIA: 5
