2 President s Message Dear Members: Another month has come and gone and the course is looking great! The aerification went smooth and the greens have remained the most playable I can ever remember after aerification. Now comes the prime golfing weather and with Terry s help the course will be in condition for your enjoyment! On the financial front, January and February were very close to budget. This was due to a combination of good participation in the restaurant and our members bringing guests to the golf course. You can continue to help our cash flow situation by bringing guests out to play, eating at the club and helping sell the Maumelle Country Club to prospective members, both social and golfing. Our current membership drive of 40 in 04 has had a very strong start with 6 new members already joined and more calls each day. Since the course is in such good hands and good condition we are now turning our attention to the clubhouse and projects that will help enhance our Country Club. Some of these projects are: New carpet & paint for the Pro Shop, downstairs hallway, Accounting Office and stairwell. Renovation of the Pro Shop, which includes woodwork & a point-of-sale counter. This is a very high traffic area for members & guests and is a renovation that all private clubs in our area have made within the last twelve months. New chairs & barstools for the Mixed Grill. Replacing the rest of the dated pool furniture, repairing the screening around the porch and improving the overall appearance of the pool area. We would like all of these projects completed before our big tournaments start in May and June, unfortunately we do not have all the funds we would like for these and have thus asked each of you to contribute so that we can accomplish as much as possible. I would like to thank all of you in advance for your support in making our Club look the best it can. Your President, Royce LoBianco Easter Egg Hunt Sunday, April 11 th 2:00 p.m. Put on your bonnet and make plans to join the Easter Bunny for Maumelle Country Club s Annual Easter Egg Hunt! The Easter Egg Hunt is for children age 10 & under. The children will be divided into age groups & there will be a special prize egg in each age group! Bring your Easter Baskets & your cameras to capture a photo of your child with the Easter Bunny!
3 Manager s Message With the change in daylight savings time, there are many functions planned throughout the month of April. Please check your calendars for all the details & changes in hours of operation. The 40 in 04 Membership Drive is off to a good start. We are very close to securing our first 10 new members. MCC held a Realtors Luncheon on March 10 & representatives from six different offices were in attendance. They were provided all the information pertaining to our club & membership drive. This should be a great form of advertising for all new residents to Maumelle. The radio campaign kicked off on March 15 th with advertising on both KABZ & KARN. These 60-second radio spots are targeting what we feel is the best clientele for MCC. Tune in to The Morning Drive, Jim Rome Show, Drive Time Sports & The Afternoon Drive to catch this advertisement. We are in the process of planning an Open House for all Maumelle residents who would like to attend. This will help showcase our Club to those who have never experienced MCC. All these efforts are time well spent towards the betterment of the Club, but our #1 form of advertising is you the current Club member. Do your part and get those friends and business associates information about this great membership opportunity. Make plans to attend Easter Day at the Club on Sunday, April 11 th. The festivities begin with the Easter Day Brunch from 10:00 a.m. 1:30 p.m. The Children s Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 2:00 p.m. Check the newsletter for all the details! Let s spring forward and have a fun and prosperous 2004 golf season! Cimarron Grubb General Manager / Head Golf Professional CONGRATULATIONS MGA 4-PERSON SHAMBLE WINNERS FIRST PLACE Pete Ardoin Mike Nolan Rhea Taylor Ted Ferry SECOND PLACE JC Dickey Pat Patterson Phil Matthews Mac Etheridge THIRD PLACE Brad Patty Jeff White Frank Satterfield Todd Holcomb
4 From the Pro Shop Daylight Savings time begins on Sunday, April 4 th, which means the golf season is here. Remember to set those clocks forward so that you don t miss your tee time! Beginning April 4 th, the Pro Shop hours will be 7:30 a.m. 7:00 p.m. Tee times can be made at 7:30 a.m. on Thursdays (starting April 8 th ) for the following weekend. Tee times may be made in person or by calling The Driving Range hours will be the same as the Pro Shop hours, with the exception of Sundays. On Sundays, the Driving Range will close at 6:00 p.m. so that we can pick up all range balls for mowing on Mondays. We will inform you when we make the transition from the mats to the grass. Make plans to participate in the MCC Master s Event, April 10 th & 11 th. Members will pick a square(s) to determine which Professional they will have as their teammate. Members may play either day in their regular groups and take their best net score. This score will be combined with the Professional s 4-day total to decide the team s overall score. The Pro Shop is fully stocked with the latest in apparel & equipment. Stop by and see what s new for Junior Golf Camp is just around the corner. The MCC Personal Tee Junior Program will be held for one week during the months of June, July & August. This is a very enjoyable time for all juniors involved, so make sure that your get your Little Tiger signed up! June July August The cost of the camp is $100 for members & $125 for guests. This includes all learning materials, gifts, and lunch each day & plenty of cold drinks to keep the kids refreshed. Reminder When we make the transition from cart trails to 90 degrees, please remember to avoid all wet areas and keep the carts on the cart trail within 30 yards of a green or tee box. The 2004 Maumelle Charity Classic will be held April 30 - May 2. As always, this tournament brings some of the best amateur players to MCC. The Classic brings revenue & exposure to the Club and donates a portion of the proceeds to different charities around Arkansas. If you would like to be a volunteer, please contact the Pro Shop for more details. The Tournament Committee has made a few changes to this year s Men s Four-Ball Championship. The tournament will be held on Friday, Saturday & Sunday (May 28-30). This decision was made in order to accommodate tournament participants & allow club members course access on Memorial Day. Please reference the enclosed entry form for all necessary information. Cimarron, Bruce & Nick
