1 VALLEY GOLF COURSE COMMITTEE 500 Gliniewicz Way Abington, MA Strawberry Valley Golf Committee Minutes of Meeting Wednesday, May 7, 2008 Town Hall, Abington, MA In Attendance: Mark Chirokas, Chairman, Joseph Cavanaugh, Vice Chairman, Steve Wakelin, Donald Hart and Joseph Eckstrom Mr. Chirokas opened the meeting at 7:08 pm and welcomed Mr. Donald Hart to the board. Mr. Chirokas then asked Mr. Eckstrom to address the committee. Course Update: Mr. Eckstrom handed out the March and April financial reports and explained to Mr. Hart how to read them. Mr. Chirokas said he would get a copy of the rate schedule for Mr. Hart. Mr. Chirokas asked if the cart rental fee is included in the green fees amount on the financial report. Mr. Eckstrom replied there should be a separate line item. Mr. Eckstrom explained the GHIN fee on the financial report to the committee. Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom if the grab grass inspection was done and Mr. Eckstrom reported it would be done in the next two weeks. Mr. Cavanaugh asked Mr. Eckstrom to remove the barrier around the 9 th tee and replace it with a sign. Mr. Eckstrom reported he needs one of each color yardage markers except the blue. Mr. Cavanaugh reported there is a box of yardage markers by the stairs. Mr. Eckstrom said he would look into this and get back to Mr. Chirokas. Mr. Chirokas reported the markers have faded and he will call Reliable, the marker company to ask if there is any compensation. Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom if they have junior club rentals at the course and Mr. Eckstrom said he would ask Mr. Allen if he provided them. Mr. Chirokas mentioned to Mr. Eckstrom there is no sign in the club house announcing that lessons are available with Mr. Allen. Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom if he has golf pro and Mr. Eckstrom reported the person he had in mind said no to his offer.

2 Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom to dump the white bucket by the clubhouse front door which is full of cigarette butts; Mr. Eckstrom said he would remove it. Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom to paint the benches on the course and Mr. Eckstrom replied he would. Mr. Chirokas asked Mr. Eckstrom to mulch the front beds and Mr. Eckstrom replied he would do this next week. Mr. Hart mentioned there is a broken glass by the front door and Mr. Eckstrom said he would handle this. Mr. Chirokas reported he witnessed a course worker drive over a coffee cup and never stopped to pick it up. Mr. Chirokas feels it's the little things like this that people notice. Mr. Hart asked Mr. Chirokas if Johnson's Golf Management has employees fill out 19 forms to prove citizenship and Mr. Chirokas reported the town doesn't require it. Mr. Chirokas mentioned all CORI reports are sent to Mr. Warren. Mr. Cavanaugh reported the new gate needs a fire department lock and said he would look at the gate to determine the best place to add the lock. Mr. Eckstrom said he would make a key for the new front door and give to Mr. Chirokas for the Fire Department to put in the lock box. Mr. Lane asked if there was any improvement to the lines that were damaged by the mower; Mr. Eckstrom feels they are improving but the second fairway needs seeding. Mr. Eckstrom said he would slice seed, fertilize and spray that area next week. Mr. Eckstrom will get the monthly rent check to Mr. Chirokas this week. Cart Path Update: Mr. Lane suggested using the extra money from the cart path reserve to add a cart path between the 6th and 7th hole. Mr. Eckstrom estimated it would cost around $10 a foot to put drainage on the left side of path. Mr. Lane asked if the cart path damage was handled and Mr. Chirokas replied it is being handled. Mr. Eckstrom said he'd ask Mr. Herbert to watch & seed these areas when necessary. Reorganization: Mr. Chirokas announced he will not be a committee member next year; instead he will act as a liaison (no voting privileges) between the committee and Mr. Warren. The committee will need a new member. Minutes: Mr. Lane motioned to accept the minutes of the last meeting, Mr. Cavanaugh seconded the motion and all were in favor.

3 Water Assessment: Mr. Chirokas reported the contract is not signed yet. Mr. Lane would like to see copy of contract before it is signed to check the add-on's. Mr. Chirokas will call ESS to ask them to fax a copy of the contract to him and he will ask Mr. Warren why the contract is not signed. Gate: The gate is finished. Mr. Lane will make a "Course Closed" sign for the front gate but will the layout to Mr. Chirokas first. Mr. Cavanaugh offered to attach the sign to the gate. Mr. Chirokas will call Sweezy Fence to put up a new section by the house. Netting: Mr. Chirokas reported he is working on the specs for the netting and has the options of going with or without a pulley. Mr. Chirokas would like to have the old netting cleaned and fixed but the first priority is extending the existing netting. Mr. Chirokas recommends setting the specs to match the existing poles. Budget: Mr. Chirokas will get a budget update for remaining FY08 and for FY09. Mr. Chirokas believes the current balance for FY08 is $1,500. RFP "Lease Agreement" Committee worked on the lease agreement for the rest of the meeting. The committee agreed to meet on May 27 to continue working on the Lease Agreement. Mr. Cavanaugh motioned to adjourn at 9:10, Mr. Lane seconded motion and all were in favor. Action List: 1. Mr. Chirokas to get Course rate schedule for Mr. Hart 2.
