Special Notice Due to the overwhelming response, The Surry Arts Council has received for the annual Mayberry Days Dinner here at Cross Creek. We will be closed for regular dining on Thursday, September 27. This is to include to-go orders and all club dining facilities. We however will offer our regular Thursday Lunch Soup and Salad Buffet on that day. We will be closing at 2 p.m. Oyster Roast on the Pavillion Saturday, October 13 6:30 p.m. Join us for our 5th annual Oyster Roast on the pavilion. 2 [ Continued» ] Welcome New s Faruk Gole Paige Shumate Joe Hooker Melvin Scales Kathryn West Scottie Payne Luke Morrison Phillip Atkins Jim York Wayne McReynolds Chris Lumsden Dinner Theater November 17 6 p.m. Cross Creek Country Club in association with NoneSuch Playmakers presents Political Corrections. They will be two oneact comedies with political themes. (Don't worry--the plays don't choose sides. Everybody take some ribbing.) The first is an original piece called "Debatable," about a small-town politician seeking re-election. With the local political machine behind him, his victory looks like a sure thing. However! His plans are upset when he discovers that his new opponent is his ex-wife, and they're about to face each other in a public debate in front of the whole town! The second one-act is titled "The Constituent" by Ernest Thompson, the playwright who adapted "On Golden Pond" for the movies. It's about a U.S. Senator who pays a visit to a crusty old constituent who has been writing him nasty letters for years. As the sparks fly between them, the two learn that they have more in common than they think. Both are good, "laugh-out- loud" comedies. Tickets are $35 per person. Includes: salad, entrée, dessert, tea, coffee, & the show! Cash bar will be available. AROUND THE CLUB A Note from Chuck What a great summer at Cross Creek! We had better than expected golf play even with all the rain through July and August. In addition, we had a blockbuster summer camp. The club has seen some great improvements over the summer months with a revitalized front entrance, added sand to all our bunkers, new driving range net, and new awnings. I know there has been a lot of concern for the drainage issue on the number 6 fairway. We have a plan for its repair in the works that we will be implementing in January when we can safely turn off all irrigation and without causing any further course damage as we preform the necessary repairs. We also have further repairs scheduled in the off season that will be addressed including the number 13 tee boxes & sodding repair on various holes. I would like to recognize and thank the following members for their contribution of time, hard work and dedication to the club with assisting with the addition of the bunker sand project. Alan Connolly, Larry Gunn, Larry Blood, Will Shepperd, Gary Niland & Ben Currin. Thank you! I d like to welcome all the new members that joined during our Join the Bunch membership campaign. Please take the time to welcome them and their families. Also a resounding thank you to all our membership for their referrals. We have some great upcoming 2 events. An oyster roast on October 13 will be held on the pavilion with live music. The MGA is putting together a fall golf tournament to be held October 13 and 14, details to follow. Our annual carnival will be held October 25 and a comedy dinner theater is scheduled for November 17. Be on the lookout for these and many more great events in the future. Please remember to make reservations to guarantee your spot. As a membership many of you have expressed to me your appreciation for all the hard work that our staff puts into the Club. Our success is due to an extremely loyal group of employees who understand that our job is to serve this club and membership to the best of our ability. Without the fantastic support staff that I am proud to represent as General Manager, our successes would be fewer and much further between. If you haven t done it already, please remember to pass your appreciation directly to the individuals on our team who make our success possible. Your feedback not only builds morale, but also strengthens our resolve to make Cross Creek the best it can be. In service, Chuck Gardner General Manager Note from Chef Swing As the summer rolls along and we slowly move into fall, the Cross Creek Culinary Team is happy to have you enjoy our new late Summer/early Fall menu. This menu is a more scaled

3 back menu compared to the past, as we continue to focus on utilizing local vendors with our seasonal offerings. Starting in October, our Thursday buffet will be a combination of our Soup and Salad buffet along with some staples from the Vegetable buffet. We plan on offering Baked Potatoes, Hearty soups as well fresh made salads along with various casseroles and southern staples. Thank you for all the great feedback we have been given this summer, as it relates to your dining experience. As always, we love to hear from our members on what we can do to better to elevate your experience at Cross Creek. In service, David Swing Executive Chef GOLF NEWS 2018 Men s Club Championship James Williams claimed his 3rd Cross Creek Club Championship title Carnival Thursday, October 25 5:30-8:30 p.m. Celebrate at the Club! The cost is $12 and will include a family-friendly buffet, lots of games & prizes, and a hayride. Everyone, even parents, is encouraged to wear a costume! July 14-15! On a course that did not yield many low scores Dr. Williams carded 7 birdies on his way to a 36-hole total score of 148(+4) and a 3 shot victory. Ray Russell defended his Senior Championship with a net 149 (+5), and Eric Fleming claimed his first President's Cup at net 140(-4) Guest Recap 28 teams teed it up August 11 and 12 for the 2018 edition of the Cross Creek -Guest Tournament. At the end of Day 1, three teams were tied for the lead at 6 under par including the team of the current club champion James Williams and his guest John Ervin. The field was tightly bunched. Ten teams were within 3 shots of first place, and no team was more than 3 shots out of first place in their flight. In the second round James Goin and Randy Chunn made a run at the title. The pair recorded 10 of the weekend s 226 birdies on Sunday on their way to a tournament low 63. Chunn alone made 9 of those birdies. However, Williams and Ervin were not to be denied. They backed up their 66 with an 8-under 64, including 8 birdies and an Eagle clipping Goin and Chunn by a single shot. This is Dr. Williams 3rd straight Cross Creek Cup victory and his second Cross Creek major victory of the season. Go to GHIN.com and put your profile in to become an egolfer. The handicap system depends on peer review to establish handicap compliance. If you see the same Golfer s name placing in most handicap events, that is an indication that their handicap may not be appropriate.
