The Poultry Show this year is being staged with the assistance of and in co-operation with the Brant County Poultry and Pet Stock Association, A.P.A Sanction show. APA and ABA Points show. Rules are based on APA. The new revised standard of Perfection shall be the guide of the judge. The judge s decision is final. Entries Close 5 p.m. Monday August 21 st 2017 Exhibitors limited to 3 entries per section. Exhibitor Fee: must pay $10.00 to the Paris Agricultural Society, unless entering a Junior class. NO REFUNDS All poultry and pet stock must be in the Poultry Building Friday, Sept.1 st between 3 10 p.m. Judging to commence at 9 a.m. Saturday Sept.2 nd All exhibits must remain cooped until 5 p.m. Monday September 4 th Coops will be provided for all exhibits except all waterfowl. The committee reserves the right to double coop if necessary. Previous show awards not to be displayed. Birds will be cared for and fed by the show committee. At time of judging no one is allowed in the building except the judges and the committee. Champions will be picked from all birds. In Sections of Classes where there are not two or more exhibits, the Judge shall be empowered to award a second, a third or no prize, where he considers the exhibit does not merit a first prize. Poultry showing symptoms of disease will be excluded from the exhibition, strictly enforced. Pigeon Exhibitors are requested to write Ring Band No. on their coop tags. Note: All birds entered must originate from Salmonella Pullorum-Typhoid clean provinces, states, countries, or have been tested (to Animal disease and Protection Act-Section 79, standards) with negative results to be eligible for entry. Yearling Stallions will be allowed. The Ontario Belgian Horse Association offers a Stallion Point Program at nine fairs across Ontario and is pleased to have Paris Fair as part of the program. To participate the stallion owner must reside in Ontario, be a member of the OBHA and have enrolled his stallion with the OBHA by July 1 st of the current year. The Stallion must be born in Ontario to a mare registered to a resident of Ontario at time of foaling. The point classes will be held immediately following their respective regular class. Prize money is a lump sum payout at the OBHA banquet. All entries in class to be placed, and no entry fee charged. A certificate identifying each enrolled stallion is issued by OBHA. The certificate is to be brought to ringside by the exhibitor for recording of placings and the signature of the judge. In case of insufficient funds, due to weather or other conditions the Society reserves the right to pay only a percentage of the prize money. Liability Insurance for a minimum of $1 million is mandatory. Proof of coverage will be required upon registration. Special rules governing Horses-The 2 and 3 year olds, driving and other horses will be allowed to show in more than one section of the same class. 2. The Society shall allow two horses, although owned by different exhibitors, to compete for the team prizes providing each owner is an exhibitor. 3. All Horses in harness to be hitched to a suitable wheeled vehicle. 4. In Classes 1115, 1120, 1125, if more than 5 teams exhibited prizes will be awarded for both heavy and light draught teams. 5. All Sections of Classes 1115, 1120, 1125 to be judged Monday. 6. Multiple Hitches-Horses not necessarily owned by one exhibitor and no entry fee over the regular 20 percent of Prize Money. 7. If more than five 4-horse and 6-horse teams exhibited, they will be judged by breed. 8. All Horses being exhibited at the Fair are to be negative to an immunodiffusion test (Coggins test) for Equine Infectious Anemia tested within one year of the date. A certificate is to be made available to the Fair Board Officials, if requested. Entries to be submitted to Fair office by August 21 st 2017 but will also be taken at Horse Show offices at Ringside. All exhibitors must procure, at the Horse Show office, identification numbers to be worn by all showmen and riders when exhibiting horses or ponies. 23 CATTLE SHOW CHAIRMAN BRIAN SAYLES GENERAL RULES OF PARIS FAIR RE: CATTLE All cattle must be on the grounds by 10:00 a.m. and remain until 4:30 p.m. Exhibitors leaving before this time without permission will forfeit their prize money. All exhibitors must pay an exhibitor fee of $ General rules of the Agricultural Society to govern. Entry fee will be 20% of prize money won. Exhibitors must be ready to exhibit their animals when called. All cattle TRUCKS must be removed from the grounds as soon as unloaded and parked in the areas designated for this purpose. ENTRIES: Definition of an Entry All registered Cattle, whether owned by one person or by more than one person (individually or jointly) which are maintained on one farm or breeding unit, are considered to be the production of one farm or breeding unit. No cow will be allowed to compete for premiums unless giving milk when shown, or visibly in calf at the time. Female cattle under three years old, giving milk, may be shown as cows in the herd or group sections. All purebred animals must be registered and pedigrees must be produced at the Fair when requested by the Directors in charge. Junior calves exempt from this rule demanding pedigrees. All entries must be owned by and registered in the name of the exhibitor. The Show Veterinarian has the final say on the health of the livestock exhibited. PART 1 The following practices or procedures are considered unacceptable and defined as unethical in the show ring of registered dairy cattle. 1. Misrepresenting the age of the animal for the class in which it is shown. 2. Filling an animal unnaturally with liquid (tubing) 3. Balancing the udder by any means other than by leaving naturally produced milk in any or all quarters. 4. Treating the udder, internally or externally with an irritant, counter-irritant, or any other substance to temporarily improve conformation or produce unnatural animation. 5. Administering epidural anesthesia (blocking tails)

24 6. Performing surgery of any kind to change the natural contour of appearance of the animal s body, hide or hair. Not included is the removal of warts, teats and horns, clipping and dressing of hair and trimming of hooves. 7. Inserting foreign material/articles under the skin, into the topline or on the feet. 8. Roping udders. 9. Criticizing or interfering with the judge, show management or other exhibitors while in the show ring or other conduct detrimental to the breed or show. PART 2 The provisions of this part apply to entries of a breed regulated by a breed association which has adopted this part. 1. if intended for use in contravention of the Code of Ethics, no exhibitor and no agent, employee or other person acting on behalf of an exhibitor, shall have in his or her possession or control any hypodermic syringe, needle or other device, swabs, cloths, or other material, or any medicine, preparation or substance, whether in liquid or any other form. 2. Exhibitors will not be allowed to wrap hocks or drain fluid from hocks at a show unless authorized by a veterinarian at the show. 3. all entries and the personal property of all exhibitors, their servants and agents and persons acting on behalf of exhibitors, are subject to inspection by inspectors authorized by a show. All such persons shall co-operate with the inspectors and shall provide all such information in connection with such inspections and shall provide access to the animal and all information reasonably required by inspectors in connection with such inspections and shall provide, if so requested, samples of urine and blood suitable for analysis. Exhibitors shall also remove any udder supports, blankets or other objects limiting the ability of the inspector to undertake a thorough inspection. In particular, the inspectors shall be informed, in advance, of the nature of any medicine, treatment or substance administered to any entry and the reasons therefore. Inspections under this paragraph may be carried out at any time while the animal is at the show and elsewhere in the period ending 30 days after the termination of the show between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. 4. Any inspector may, at any time, require the delivery to him of any hypodermic syringe, needle or other device, swabs, cloths or other material, or samples or any medicine, preparation or substance, whether in liquid or other form, in the possession or control of the exhibitor, his servants, agents or persons acting on behalf of the exhibitor for the purposes of laboratory analysis. 5. (A) Subject to the provisions of subparagraph (b) the following entries are disqualified and shall not participate further in the show in which the entry is disqualified. (i) Any animal determined by an inspector, who is also a veterinarian, to have an udder manifesting any of the following: localized swelling, oedema, erythema, sensitivity, reddening, firmness, warmth or exfoliation of the skin, but excluding general oedema associated with parturition or mastitis, or a sore in the area where the large blood (ii) vessels enter the udder. Any animal entered by an exhibitor whose servants, agents or persons acting on his behalf, fails to co-operate in the inspection provided for under paragraphs 3 or 4. (B) The inspector s determination pursuant to subparagraph (A) (i) is subject to an appeal by the exhibitor to the appeal committee appointed by the show for the purpose. Any such appeal must be made by notice in writing delivered to the show management within 1 hour of notification of the inspector s determination. In keeping with the basic philosophy of the fair/exhibition show committee, ethics are an individual responsibility. However, it should be understood that violators are subject to disciplinary provisions of the Rules and Regulations.

Prize Schedule for Sections 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18: $60; $50; $45; $35; $25; $20; $15; $12; $8. Sections: 1-7, & 9 is half of the above. Special: Jr. Showmanship Class. Judging will start at 6:15 p.m. immediately before Holstein Show. Leadsperson must be 5 years of age at show time and under 10 yrs. pre 4-H age. Entrants may come from neighbouring counties. Winner will receive the Sean Murphy Memorial Plaque, donated by the Murphy Family, Binbrook, Ontario. All entries will receive $10.00 and ribbons donated by Brant-Wentworth Holstein Club. All class winners in section 1-7, 9, 10, -16 and 18 receive $20.00 cash the day of show. 4-H members showing their 4-H calf will receive $10.00 cash prize money day of the show from the Brant-Wentworth Holstein Club.
