2 Welcome everyone to Dressage at Dawn and Dusk for This is the second time we are running this event and it is wonderful to see so many combinations support this competition. Dressage at Dawn and Dusk is the first round of the MCDC Triple Crown Challenge We are thrilled that South Australia dressage riders are embracing this new exciting awards programme with such enthusiasm. Events like these take a lot of preparation, time and effort. On behalf of the riders in our event I would like to thank all those people working behind the scenes to make it possible. Also a big thank you must go to all those Mt Crawford members who are volunteering their time. Your help is invaluable and I thank you on behalf of those participating. We are fortunate to have three Judges from interstate who have accepted our invitation to judge at the 2018 Dressage at Dawn and Dusk. Thank you to Wendy Barker (WA), Kristen Clossen (NSW) and Natalie Frew (VIC) for supporting our event and they will be joined by a wonderful line up of SA Judges. It is the philosophy of our club that all levels of competitive combinations have the opportunity to be judged by interstate Judges. Riders, please don't miss the opportunity to chat to your Judges (after they have finished!) if you have queries about your test. A thank you to them for their efforts would be most appreciated, also. Open lines of communication between Judges and Riders can only be of benefit to future performances and the Sport of Dressage as a whole. On a final note regarding our grounds, - Bill, thank you for once again preparing the grounds to such a high standard for this event and also for all your work behind the scenes each month. I also would particularly like to thank the Trustees who have supported the development of the MCDC facilities allowing us to grow into the wonderful Club it is today. It takes discipline and dedication to shape a competitive dressage horse. It is my hope that the tests performed at these competitions will display this discipline and dedication. 4 Judging Panel A VERY WARM WELCOME TO OUR JUDGES The Mt Crawford Dressage Club CommiBee are thrilled to introduce our highly qualified and experienced panel of Judges for our 2018 Dressage at Dawn & Dusk compeccon. A few will have travelled long distances from all over Australia to join us for the first round of the Triple Crown Challenge. We also appreciate the expercse that our local Judges are bringing to the compec- Con and thank you all most sincerely for your contribucon. Judging is obviously an essencal part of the Sport of Dressage and we all must not underescmate the level of skill and training required for this most demanding & challenging accvity. Judges literally make hundreds of micro-decisions during a test and this is literally a 'juggling act' in the most lateral sense. Weighing up the good and not so good aspects of every movement and deciding on a score that correctly reflects the standard of performance is an incredibly exaccng and responsible exercise. Wendy Barker (WA) has had a passion for dressage from her earliest years. She has trained 4 horses to FEI level Dressage while working as a full Cme lecturer, and is currently compecng at Grand Prix. Wendy has been fortunate to train with the legendary Harry Boldt for many years and has also been a member of the WA Dressage Squad for several years. A Coach Educator and Level 2 NCAS Coach, she coaches at leading dressage clubs in WA and in several other states. She has judged at Dressage Championships in every Australian state, at NaConal Dressage Championships in Malaysia and Singapore and has officiated at numerous internaconal events in Australia, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom. She is a 4* FEI PE Dressage Judge, a Young Dressage Horse Judge and an A Level Judge. Wendy holds a Master of Commerce, BA, Dip Ed and a Grad Dip in HRM. She enjoys lecturing in Management, Human Resources and Business, and as a Judge Educator has also presented Dressage Seminars across most Australian states. Currently Wendy is Chair of a new group appointed by the Australian Dressage Judges CommiBee. The group is the Judges Online Units Working Party, which is creacng innovacve learning materials to help Dressage Judges to extend their skills and knowledge. Helen WhiBle is SA s newest A level Judge. She is fascinated by animal behavior & training & is passionate about animal welfare. She has owned & trained numerous horses over the years, the most memorable achievement being Dressage Horse of the Year 2002 She has been an accve member of our dressage community having been Chair SA Dressage Judges CommiBee, President DCSA & a member of the Dressage SA CommiBee. She has also served as a board member of Animal Welfare League and Chair of Horse SA. Kristen Clossen (NSW) - Born into a horse family in Southern California, Kristen's career in horses started quite young, becoming a professional junior rider at age 14, a coach whilst still in her teenage years & had ridden to Grand Prix by her early 20s. Her interests expanded to included judging and horse management with these, alongside coaching, saw her traveling around the world for over 5 years. A tour ending in Australia in Since migrating Kristen has come up through the judging and coaching ranks. She is a B Level Judge, a Young Horse Judge, a Mentor Judge, a Level 2 Dressage Coach, & a Coach Educator. She also enjoys training & competing her own & client's horses from Preliminary to FEI levels. Graham Rodda is a C level judge, he has been part of the SA dressage community for many years as an official, a judge and was a long standing member of SADA. Carly Boon is an F level judge based in Adelaide. She is working toward upgrading and looks forward to judging at higher levels in future. As the vice-chair of Dressage SA, she enjoys being part of building the sport in South Australia. Carly combines her judging, CommiBee & riding Cme with working professionally in consulcng and HR

5 2018 Dressage at Dawn & Dusk Natalie Frew has trained with several wonderful German Instructors, Frau Brandl, Jochen Leicht, Bimbo Pilecke, then the Master of the Spanish Riding School, Herr Eichinger, then here at home with Malcolm Barns, and Anna Auer, Anna being her main coach for many years. M Kelly trained her for judging and made sure Natalie knew what to watch for in tests, the accurate corner, preparacon and presentacon of 2 track work, the consistency of rhythm. Natalie rode and trained up to Inter I, before her special horse Mulyan Mykonos, became aged, together they won the Inter I class at Victorian Dressage Champs, then he was recred; Natalie also designed and ran the Oakwood/Mulders FEI Quadrille for many years, Mykonos was a member uncl it was disbanded. Natalie has been a judge for more years than she can now remember, judged at NaConals in Sydney, visited Interstate and Tasmania many Cmes, and really enjoys putng back into the sport and try to be fair and construccve in her comments. Kerry Kirchner is a B level Judge, a Judge Educator and a Young Horse Judge. She is a level 2 Coach specialising in Dressage. She has trained 8 horses to FEI level, two to Grand Prix some of these horses she has breed herself. Kerry is currently riding FEI Small Tour on her horse Barrabadeen Crusier. Rachel Vincent is a dressage & Para Judge, Mentor and EA level 2 Dressage Coach. She has been riding since 6yrs & started compecng in dressage a>er she was married. She was on the Dressage Squad for many years with Muscatel & Sauvignon. She competed to Inter I and her horse Muscatel won three consecucve years at the SA Dressage Horse of the Year Finals in Elementary, Medium, Advance & Prix St.George. She is currently riding a pony Kerulen WyneBa, a Stock Horse-Clancy & hopes to get back compecng in the spring. In 1991 she helped convene the 1st NaConal Championships for Riders with a Disability, which ran parallel with ESA State Championships. In 1994 she was Australian Team Dressage Coach for the 1st riders to compete at a Para World Dressage Championships, in Hartpury, UK. In 2006 she was Dressage Coach & Carer to Grace Bowman who travelled with a team of riders to Hartpury, UK to compete in Junior & Senior Dressage Championships & in 2014 was Australian Dressage Coach for Para Riders who competed at the InternaConal CompeCCon for Physically & Mentally Challenged Riders. - "Horses Bring Happiness" Hope Cup in Taiwan. Round 1 of the Carissa Courtney has been in- volved with horses since she was 6 years old, however she didn t find dressage uncl she was an adult. Her first exposure was as a penciller at Mt Crawford Dressage club around 15 years ago and she loved it. Since this Cme she have been involved with the sport on many levels as a rider, part of a commibee and as a judge. She really like judging as it gives a different aspect to her understanding of the sport and helps to improve her as a rider.

Observe Speed 10km/hr Limit within Dressage Grounds. Parking Areas as defined please follow marshalls directions. Fill in any holes your horse/s may dig. Spread manure. Lunging will only take place in the designated lunging area. You are considered to be lunging your horse if the horse is more that 2m away from you regardless of whether you are using a lunging rope of a training rope. Horses found to be posing a danger to other horses/persons on the Grounds, will be asked to remove them by the Risk Management Officer. Riders should you be involved in an incident while on the grounds please remember to report and fill in an incident report form at the office. In order to avoid incidents in the warm up area please pay extra attention to your lines and spacing and make sure you are familiar with section Etiquette for Warm-Up Arena of the rule book. With the co-operation of all persons riding or using the Grounds facilities a good time will be had by all.
