All ponies should therefore travel to the show with their passports. The Society may levy a fine on any pony found without its passport. Random passport checks may be carried out. Measuring All ponies entered in a class with an upper height limit (eg 128 cm, 138 cm) must be measured on the showground before the class, unless they produce an official height certificate, which should be presented with the pony to the Measuring Steward so that it can be ratified. 4 THE NEW FOREST PONY STALLION SHOW Saturday 27 August am ENTRIES CLOSE MONDAY 25 JULY 2011 All ponies entered at this show must be registered in the Approved Section of the New Forest Pony Stud Book NFPEC offer a rosette to the highest placed pony owned or ridden by a club member in each ridden class (green armband). Forest Bred Rosettes donated by the Pony Publicity Group, will be awarded to the highest placed pony sired and foaled on the open Forest in each class (white armband). The winners will be eligible to compete in the Forest bred Stallion Championship. The Society offers a special rosette to the best pony under 128 cm in the ridden classes. Please show the ring steward your measurement card on entering the ring. ENTRY FEES (classes 1-11, 13): Members 4.00 Non members 8.00 FOREST RUN STALLIONS East Ring A, 10 am Judge: Miss H Duffield Ponies entered in classes 1-2 MUST have run on the Forest in the current year from 14 May 11 June. Manes and tails can be lightly trimmed. Shoes allowed only in classes 1 and 2. PREMIUMS: 150, 100, 50 Premiums will be awarded to stallions 3 years old and over (classes 1-2) at the Judge s discretion. Premiums will be paid in the year of award. In classes 1 and 2 all stallions must be measured or have a height certificate. The height at which the classes divide will be decided on the day. A special prize of 10 kindly presented by Mr P Pidgley will be awarded to the best turned out pony in Classes 1-2. CLASS 1 FOREST-RUN STALLIONS, 3 years and over, small. Reeves Cup to the winner. Bramble Memorial to the best 5 year old. CLASS 2 FOREST-RUN STALLIONS, 3 years and over, large. Bettesthorne Cup to the winner. Rowhill Memorial Cup to the best 5 year old. 5 THE CRANESMOOR CUP and a premium of 100, and a Reserve premium of 50, donated in memory of Miss P Mangin, will be awarded to the stallion from Classes 1 and 2 who is judged to have sired the best foals on the Forest in the current year. Foals will be judged on the Forest after the closing date of entries. FOREST RUN STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP- THE SHOBLEY CUP Open to 1 st and 2 nd prize winners of Classes 1 and 2 and the Boldre Cup winner. Champion and Reserve may compete for the Supreme and the Breeders Cup (if eligible) at the Breed Show on Monday 29 August. FOREST BRED IN-HAND STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP RON ALFORD MEMORIAL TROPHY Open to winners of Forest bred rosettes in classes 1 to 9. The highest placed 1, 2 or 3 year old may compete for the Kingett Memorial Cup, and the highest placed 4 years and over may compete for the Roughton Trophy at the Breed Show on Monday 29 August. STUD STALLIONS East Ring B, 9.30 am Judge: Mrs G Haar Ponies entered in these classes are not eligible for classes 1-2. No plaits or chifney bits allowed. 6 STUD YOUNGSTOCK CHAMPIONSHIP HENRIETTA TROPHY Open to first and second prize winners from classes 8 and 9 The winner and reserve are eligible for the Weirs Cup (Youngstock championship) at the Breed Show on Monday 29 August. STUD STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP - OSSEMSLEY TROPHY Open to 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from class 7 and the Youngstock champion and reserve. Champion and Reserve may compete for the Supreme and the Breeders cup (if eligible) at the Breed Show on Monday 29 August. RIDDEN STALLIONS East Ring B Judge: Miss E Dean Prizes: 5, 4, 3, 2 All stallions must be 4 years or over. No plaits allowed. The Ramblers cup will be awarded to the best novice (not to have won a 1 st rosette in a ridden NF or M & M class up to 1 st January in the current year and shown in a snaffle bridle) from classes 10 and 11 (pink armband). The best ponies ridden by the owner or the child of the owner from classes 10 and 11 are eligible for the John Bradford Cup at the Breed Show (Performance Day) on Sunday 28 August (red armband). RIDDEN STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP BROADLANDS CUP Open to 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from classes 10 and 11. The winner and reserve are eligible for the ridden championship (The Henderson Scott Cup) at the Breed Show (Performance Day) on Sunday 28 August. The winner qualifies for the NPS/ M&M RIDDEN GRAND PRIX held at the NPS Autumn Festival Show. As this is a breed show the owner does not have to be 6

7 an NPS member for the pony to enter this competition or to qualify, but owners need to become Full members of the NPS to enter the final. At the final classes will be split by breed. FOREST-BRED RIDDEN STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP Open to winners of Forest Bred rosettes in classes WEST RING, am Class 12 (BSPS Affiliation: BSPS OLYMPIA SFB1/11) THE BSPS HERITAGE MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND OPEN RIDDEN CLASS (New Forest Breed qualifying round for the Semi-Final for Olympia) Judges: Mrs L Sims (Ridden) and Mrs N Dibden (Conformation) Entry Fee: Members Non members PRIZES: 20, 15, 10, 5 Registered Pure-Bred New Forest Ponies 4 years old or over, riders any age, except those riding stallions who must be 14 years old or over. Kindly sponsored by the Hawkins Family and TAAS Ltd. To be judged under BSPS rules as per the 2011 BSPS Show Handbook and the supplementary Olympia Rulebook. The first and second prize winners will qualify for a semi-final to be held at the BSPS Heritage Championship Show at Arena UK. As this is a Breed Show exhibitors need not be B.S.P.S. Members, but in order to enter the semi-final, the qualifying ponies, owners and riders must be registered with the B.S.P.S. before the semi-final. Marking system for qualifying rounds: to be judged on a 50/50 marks system 50 marks for performance, manners and way of going for breed type and 50 marks for conformation and breed type. East Ring, 1.00 pm DRIVING PONY EVENT All ponies must be registered in the New Forest Stud Book (including the X Register) or the Part Bred Register. 8 Stallion Show RULES All Breed Show rules also apply to the Stallion Show. All colts/stallions must be registered in the Approved section of the New Forest Pony Stud Book. All Forest run colts/stallions two years old and over must have a New Forest Pony stallion licence (Vets certificate) the number to be given on the entry form. All stud colts/stallions three years old and over must have a New Forest Pony stallion licence (Vets certificate) the number to be given on the entry form. All 2 year old stallions must be licensed before being used for breeding purposes. All riders and handlers of stallions must have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January of the current year. SHOW TIMETABLE Classes follow on, please ensure that you are ready for your class. No classes will be held up for competitors. In in-hand classes, the class is closed when the last pony has done its individual trot. Ridden classes will be considered closed at the start of the trot round. Show Rules The show is affiliated to the National Pony Society so NPS show rules also apply. 1 All exhibitors/owners must be members of the New Forest Pony Breeding and Cattle Society or pay double entry fees. Applications for membership should be to sent to Deepslade House, Ringwood Road, Bransgore, Hants BH23 8AA Tel/Fax All animals entered must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor/owner. They must be transferred to the correct owner s name prior to the close of entries, or the entry will be refused. 3 All New Forest ponies including first cross/part bred or X-register must be in possession of a valid PASSPORT issued by the New Forest Pony Breeding & Cattle Society. Forest-run ponies born after 1 July 2009 may hold Registration Certificates issued under the derogation of the Horse Passports Regulations Young Commoners: definition People aged under 30 known to be depasturing stock that are registered in their own name. 5 Entries must be made on the printed form and reach the secretary with the entry fee, on or before 25 July No substitutions or alteration of entries will be permitted after this date. Late entries (some at extra fees) will only be accepted in utility, jumping, WHP, lead rein, family pony, junior and first ridden, private driving, child handler, progeny, part bred, riding and hunter pony classes, Commoner s Mare. 6 The Council reserves the right to refuse any entry without giving reasons. 7 Competitor s numbers, timetables and entry passes will be sent to the exhibitor before the show. Owners, exhibitors and attendants will ONLY be admitted free with an official pass. Life members admitted free on production of their life member s badge. 8 Every one in charge of stock will be subject to the orders, rules and regulations of the Society. 9 The Council reserves the right to cancel any class, refunding any entry fee. 10 All ponies entered in any class with an upper height limit (eg 128 cm, 138 cm) MUST be measured on the showground before the class by the Society s official measurer, whose decision is final. JMB Measurement Certificates and Society Height Certificates will be accepted if produced with the pony. Passports must be presented with the pony at the measuring stand. 11 No prize shall be awarded when, in the opinion of the judge, there is insufficient merit. The judge has the power to divide any prize or premium. The decision of the judge shall be final. 9

10 12 Written objections must be handed in at the Show Secretary s Tent within 30 minutes of the incident with a deposit of 25, which shall be forfeited if the objection is not upheld. The decision of the Committee will be final. 13 Neither the Society nor any of its Officers or Servants will be responsible for anything that may happen from any cause or circumstance whatsoever to any person attending, or any animal exhibited, at the show. It shall be a condition of entry that each Exhibitor /Owner shall hold the Society harmless and that they will indemnify the Society against any legal proceedings arising from any such cause or circumstance. 14 The responsibility for the accuracy of the entry form will rest with the Exhibitor/Owner. Anyone who knowingly makes a false entry will be disqualified and all prize money, premiums and cups awarded at the show will be forfeited. The exhibitor/owner will be debarred from entering or exhibiting at the show for three years. 15 Owners/ exhibitors are responsible for the presence of their ponies in time to be judged. Ponies must be measured at least 30 minutes before the class is due to be judged. 16 It is the competitor s responsibility to check the schedule when entering, for classes that may coincide and no entry fees will be refunded when classes overlap. No classes will be held up. 17 The rider/handler may not remove their ponies or themselves from the ring during judging, without the Judge s permission. The class ends when the Judge dismisses the class. 18 In New Forest classes NO plaiting is allowed, but manes and tails may be lightly pulled. In first cross/part bred/x-register classes ponies may be plaited. No hind shoes allowed in in-hand classes unless otherwise stated. 19 No mare with a living foal born in the current year may compete in any class other than classes 64, 72, The Council reserves the right to order off the show ground any animal that they consider to be out of control or dangerous. Any person whose conduct, in the opinion of the Committee, is detrimental to the character and interests of the Society may be subject to disciplinary proceedings. 21 In all unsponsored classes no second prize will be awarded unless there are at least four entries, no third prize unless there are at least six entries and no fourth prize unless there are at least eight entries. 22 Classes may be divided or amalgamated at the discretion of the Show Committee. 23 Officials and competitors only allowed in the Judging Rings. 24 The Society s Veterinary Officers are authorised to have removed from the showground any animal affected with contagious or infectious disease which, in their opinion, is likely to prove dangerous to other animals. There will be a fine of 50 for each animal disqualified. 25 Properly secured hard hats to conform to current British Standard to be worn by all riders. No spurs or whips more than 30 long allowed except in dressage when BD dressage rules apply. 26 All Cups and Trophies are perpetual and may not be won outright. Any exhibit in the same ownership that wins the same trophy three years in succession will be presented with a small replica. Exhibitors are responsible for having cups engraved. 27 Winners of cups that are not returned will NOT be permitted to compete at the show in 2012 or This rule will be strictly adhered to, except in proven circumstances. 28 A fall of pony or rider in any class will result in disqualification. The rider must not remount in the ring. 29 Competitors must wear jackets in ridden classes and be appropriately dressed in In Hand classes. 30 Competitors must wear their correct numbers or the Show Committee will not be held responsible for incorrect results. 31 The Committee reserve the right to substitute judges when unforeseen circumstances require. 32 Entry fees can only be returned on the production of a valid veterinary certificate less 2 for administration fees. 33 If the show has to be cancelled for any reason, the Council reserves the right to retain up to 50% of any entry fee paid to cover pre-show expenses. 34 Should any question arise not provided for in these rules, it will be referred to the Committee on the ground, whose decision will be final. 35 All entries must be open to random dope testing in accordance with NPS rules. 36 Handlers of ponies in the In Hand classes aged 14 and under must wear a correctly secured current British Standard skull cap or riding hat. 37 NO CHILDREN under 12 years old other than those competing will be allowed into the collecting rings at any time. NO CAMPING BY EXHIBITORS IS ALLOWED ON THE SHOWGROUND. 10
