All ponies should therefore travel to the show with their passports. The Society may levy a fine on any pony found without its passport. Random passport checks may be carried out. Measuring All ponies entered in a class with an upper height limit (eg 128 cm, 138 cm) must be measured on the showground before the class by the Society s official measurer, whose decision is final, unless they produce a JMB Certificate or a veterinary measurement height certificate (allowing 1 cm for shoes), which should be presented with the pony to the Measuring Steward so that it can be ratified. PASSPORTS MUST BE PRESENTED WITH THE PONY AT THE MEASURING STAND. 128 cm = 12.2 hh 132 cm = 13.0 hh 135 cm = 13.1 hh 138 cm = 13.2 hh 148 cm = 14.2 hh 153 cm = 15.0 hh The Measuring Stand will be open from 7.45 am on Saturday. 4 PERFORMANCE GRADING DAY Sunday 27 September 2015 Ford Farm, Burley Road, Brockenhurst, Hants SO42 7TB Dressage and Show Jumping (on surfaces), all grades available Contact the office, or download schedule and entry form from website. NPS QUALIFYING ROUNDS: These classes are judged under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain & Moorland Classes. Qualifying rounds for most NPS competitions are open to ponies owned by NPS members and non-members and at breed shows ponies can qualify for finals even if their owners are not members. Owners of qualified ponies must become adult Qualifying or Life members to enter the final of the competition at the NPS Summer Championship Show at Malvern in August The highest placed pony, in each class will qualify for the final. Qualification may pass down to third place if the first and second ponies are already qualified. NPS/Rosettes Direct Home Produced Ridden Championship - Riders of Home Produced ponies (see definition in the NPS Rules Book) can wear a white arm band in classes where this is indicated. These ponies are then eligible to qualify for the final at the NPS Summer Championship Show. From 2015 all qualifying ponies will receive a qualification card. THE NEW FOREST PONY STALLION SHOW Saturday 29 August am ENTRIES CLOSE 1 AUGUST 2015 All ponies entered at this show must be registered in the Approved Section of the New Forest Pony Stud Book NFPEC offer a rosette to the highest placed pony owned or ridden by a club member in each ridden class (green armband). The Young Commoners Group offers a rosette to the highest placed pony owned by a Young Commoner in each class (orange armband). Please ensure that you have completed and returned to the office the Young Commoners Declaration Form, to confirm eligibility. Forest Bred Rosettes donated by the Pony Publicity Group, will be awarded to the highest placed pony sired and foaled on the open Forest in each class (white armband). The winners will be eligible to compete in the Forest bred Stallion Championship. The Society offers a special rosette to the best pony under 128 cm in each class and all can come forward to the 128 cm championship on Monday 31 August. Please show the ring steward your measurement card on entering the ring. ENTRY FEES (classes 1-10): Members 5.00 Non members West Ring A, 8.30 am FOREST RUN STALLIONS Judge: Mr Rodger James Classes 1-2 are for stallions aged 2 years and over that are (or are eligible to be) in the Verderers grazing from June 2015 and are eligible and available to run the Forest in Manes and tails can be lightly trimmed. Ponies aged 4 and over may be shod. PREMIUMS: 150, 100, 50 Premiums will be awarded to stallions 2 years old and over (classes 1-2) at the Judge s discretion. Premiums will be paid in the year of award. CLASS 1 FOREST-RUN STALLIONS, 4 years and under. Cecil Cup to the best 4 year old. Boldre Cup to the best 3 year old. Meyrick Cup to the best 2 year old. C Tillyer Memorial Cup to the highest placed youngstock, age 2 or 3 years. The winner is eligible for the WEIRS CUP (Youngstock championship) at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August. Centaur Cup to the best 2 year old owned by a Young Commoner (orange armband). Best youngstock colt owned by a Young Commoner eligible for the Gaza Cup on Monday (orange armband). 4

5 CLASS 2 FOREST-RUN STALLIONS, 5 years and over. Stallions in this class must be measured or have a height certificate. The Reeves Cup will be awarded to the best small stallion. The Bettesthorne Cup will be awarded to the best large stallion. Bramble Memorial to the best small 5-year-old. Rowhill Memorial Cup to the best large 5-year-old. Sponsor: The Royal Oak Fritham THE CRANESMOOR CUP and a premium of 100, and a Reserve premium of 50, donated in memory of Miss P Mangin, will be awarded to the stallion from Classes 1-2 who is judged to have sired the best foals on the Forest in the current year. Foals will be judged on the Forest after the closing date of entries. FOREST RUN STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP - THE SHOBLEY CUP Prize: 20 to Champion Open to 1 st and 2 nd prize winners of Classes 1-2 and the C Tillyer Memorial Cup winner. Champion and Reserve may compete for the Supreme and the Breeders Cup (if eligible) at the Breed Inhand Show on Monday 31 August. FUTURITY YEARLING COLTS CLASS 3 FUTURITY YEARLING COLTS currently in (or eligible to be in) the grazing. Somerley Cup to the winner. Best colt owned by a Young Commoner eligible for the Gaza Cup on Monday (orange armband). No colt to be shown in a bit. First and second placed colts eligible for the Stud Youngstock Championship. Forest-bred rosette winner eligible for Forest Bred In Hand Stallion Championship. East Ring B, 9.30 am STUD STALLIONS Judge: Mr Rodger James Ponies entered in these classes are not eligible for classes 1-2. No plaits or chifney bits allowed. CLASS 6 YEARLING COLTS. Waterditch Cup to the winner. Best colt owned by a Young Commoner eligible for the Gaza Cup at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August (orange armband). Special rosette to the highest placed pony purchased by the exhibitor at the Beaulieu Road Sales eligible for Beaulieu Road Sales Championship at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August (purple armband). No yearling colt to be shown in a bit. CLASS 7 COLTS, 2 and 3 year olds. This class will be split if sufficient entries forward. Green Dragon Trophy to the best 3 year old. The Haycock and Harvey Trophy to the best 2 year old. Best colt owned by a Young Commoner eligible for the Gaza Cup at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August (orange armband). Special rosette to the highest placed pony purchased by the exhibitor at the Beaulieu Road Sales eligible for Beaulieu Road Sales Championship at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August (purple armband). Front shoes permissible for 3-year-olds only. CLASS 8 JUNIOR STALLIONS, 4, 5 or 6 years of age. Ponies may be shod. CLASS 9 SENIOR STALLIONS, age 7 years or over. Ponies may be shod. A J Harmsworth Cup to the best stallion from classes 8 and 9. STUD YOUNGSTOCK CHAMPIONSHIP HENRIETTA TROPHY Open to first and second prize winners from classes 3, 6 and 7 The winner and reserve are eligible for the Weirs Cup (Youngstock championship) at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August. STUD STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP - OSSEMSLEY TROPHY 5

6 Prize: 20 to Champion Open to 1 st and 2 nd prize winners from classes 8-9 and the Youngstock champion and reserve. Champion and Reserve may compete for the Supreme and the Breeders cup (if eligible) at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August. FOREST BRED IN-HAND STALLION CHAMPIONSHIP RON ALFORD MEMORIAL TROPHY Open to winners of Forest bred rosettes in classes 1 to 9. The highest placed 1, 2 or 3 year old may compete for the Kingett Memorial Cup, and the highest placed 4 years and over may compete for the Roughton Trophy, at the Breed Show on Monday 31 August. East Ring B RIDDEN STALLIONS Judge: Mrs V Hampton All ridden stallions must be 4 years or over. No plaits allowed. CLASS 10 RIDDEN STALLIONS The Broadlands Cup to the winner. The 1 st and 2 nd prize winners are eligible for the Ridden Championship (The Henderson Scott Cup). Highfox Cup to the highest placed stallion not exceeding 138 cm. Measuring required. Applewitch Cup to the highest placed stallion exceeding 138 cm. Mockbeggar Cup to highest placed stallion to have run on the Forest in The Ramblers cup will be awarded to the best novice (not to have won a 1 st rosette in a ridden NF or M & M class up to 1 st January in the current year and shown in a snaffle bridle) (pink armband). The winner is eligible for the Novice Ridden Championship. The best pony ridden by the owner or the child of the owner is eligible for the John Bradford Cup (red armband). The highest placed Forest-Bred Ridden Stallion is eligible for the Forest-Bred Ridden Championship (the Super Sox Trophy) (white armband). All colts/stallions must be registered in the Approved section of the New Forest Pony Stud Book. All Forest run colts/stallions two years old and over must have a New Forest Pony stallion licence (a VC number) the number to be given on the entry form. All stud colts/stallions three years old and over must have a New Forest Pony stallion licence (a VC number) the number to be given on the entry form. All 2 year old stallions must be licensed before being used for breeding purposes. All riders and handlers of stallions must have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January of the current year. This competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings, four years old and over, to be registered in, and complying with the showing requirements of, the main body of the New Forest stud book. Riders and Owners must be members of the Breed Society, NPS, Ponies (UK), The Showing Register or BSPS. Ponies must not exceed the height limit as stipulated by the Breed Society. Riders of stallions must have obtained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January in the current year. This class will be run in accordance with the general rules as set out in the Horse of the Year Show rulebook, a copy of which can be downloaded from Marks will be awarded in the following way: Show, freedom of action - 50 maximum Breed type and conformation - 50 maximum In the case of equality, the pony with the highest show, freedom of action mark will be deemed the winner. If there still be equality at this point, then the judges decision will be final. This class is a qualifying class for Horse of the Year Show, NEC, Birmingham, 7 th 11 th October Qualification will not pass below 3 rd Place. Qualification will be verified by the Horse of the Year Show office. EAST RING A, Approx am Judge: Mrs J Lowth CLASS 13 RIDDEN VETERAN, open to stallions, mares and geldings, pure-bred NF, part-bred, first cross and X-register. 18 years and over, to be judged on condition and fitness for age. 8 CLASS 14 FOREST BRED RIDDEN not exceeding 138 cm. Mare or gelding to have been sired and foaled on the open Forest. Rushmoor Peter Pod Cup to the winner. Measuring required. Sponsor: Niccolls Plant Hire CLASS 15 FOREST BRED RIDDEN exceeding 138 cm. Mare or gelding to have been sired and foaled on the open Forest. Cedar Linger Cup to the winner. Sponsor: The Beaulieu Estate UTILITY PONY This class will take place in the Utility Ring between 11 am and 2 pm Late entries taken on the day in the collecting ring at no extra charge. CLASS 16 UTILITY PONY Open to mares, geldings and stallions. Open also to first-cross, part-bred and X-Register. Conformation and turnout will not be judged. The pony will be required to negotiate a course judged on time. Jumps approximately 2 3. Sparky Trophy to highestplaced stallion. Section A: Seniors. Trophy to the highest place registered New Forest. Section B: Juniors, not to have attained their 17 th birthday, on day of show, with trophy to the winner. CLASS 17 CHILD S WHP, PONIES NOT EXCEEDING 138CM. Fences 53 cm (1 9 ) 69 cm (2 3 ) Willan Cup to the winner. Measuring required. CLASS 18 CHILD S WHP, PONIES EXCEEDING 138CM. Fences 69 cm (2 3 ) 84 cm (2 9 ). Barber cup to the winner. COUNTRY LIFE CUP, presented by Country Life will be awarded to best pony from classes 17 and 18 ridden by the owner or the child of the owner (Red armband) NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY Classes 19A, 19B, 20 and 21 are breed qualifying rounds for The NPS M&M Novice Working Hunter Pony National Championship. Kindly sponsored by NPS Area 25. a) Stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following: i) Won an open NPS affiliated M&M WHP class ii) Won a class at an M&M WHP (Horse of the Year Show or RIHS) qualifying round iii) Qualified for the NPS M&M Novice or Intermediate WHP final at the NPS Summer Championship show iv) Qualified for an M&M WHP final at Horse of the Year Show or RIHS in previous years or in the current year. (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices for two consecutive years provided they do not make an entry in the final in the first year). b) Rider any age, except riders of stallions who must have attained their 14 th birthday before 1 st January of the current year. Riders may only ride one pony in each class c) Ponies must be shown in a snaffle bit. 8

9 d) The course will consist of a minimum of seven fences, one of which must be a spread. A water tray will not be included in qualifying rounds but will be included in the final. A change of direction must be included. If a hazard is included, it will be numbered and judged as a fence. e) See section A 4.7 of the NPS Rule Book for judging and marking criteria for working hunter pony classes. (Also see notes on page 5 of this schedule) CLASS 19A NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY, PONIES NOT EXCEEDING 122 CMS. Measuring required. Fences minimum height 47 cm, maximum height 60 cm, maximum spread 47 cm. CLASS 19B NOVICE WORKING HUNTER PONY, PONIES EXCEEDING 122 CMS BUT NOT EXCEEDING 133 CMS. Measuring required. Fences minimum height 55cms, maximum height 65cms, maximum spread 55cms. JUMPING CLASSES LATE ENTRIES TAKEN ON THE GROUND The jumping classes are open to ponies and horses entered in the New Forest Stud Book (including the X-Register) or the Part Bred Register unless stated otherwise. To be judged under BS rules. No spurs or cutting whips allowed (see Rule 24). All classes will be two-phase. Late entries will be taken on the day ( 7 and 12) 9

10 CLASS 23 NOVICE JUMPING. Pony not to have won a 1 st rosette in SJ classes by the date of show at this height or above. Riders any age. Jumps approximately 2 0 in the first round. Gay Lass Cup to the winner. Sponsor Mrs J Tillyer-Murray CLASS 24 JUNIOR JUMPING. Ponies not exceeding 148 cm, to be ridden by a child 14 years or under on the show day.
