3 Over the Edge 3 Seneschal Greetings unto the most excellent shire s populace. Much is happening here in our local area this month! Have fun and enjoy yourselves as you prepare for our upcoming event. Our last shire workday will take place at the ranch and will be Oct. 12th. Please plan to come out and camp and see the site if you haven t already, it is lovely! I have had word from our Prince and Princess that they plan to camp with us at BOYD2 so we must make sure to have a nice quiet spot for them to set up the royal encampment. Our signs have turned out beautifully, many thanks to those who have come out the frog pond to work on them. Our latrines will need some work and we should probably do a quick set up while at the ranch so we know what we re doing come event time. It would be wise for us to have a potluck dinner and since the site is primitive most foods should be prepared in advance. I m sure our grill master can make some hot meat happen for us, so please think of side dishes that are served cold or just need to be warmed on a camp stove. I will bring burgers to cook. 6 Over the Edge 6 Guild Info and News Knight's Marshal There will be a HUNT at our event! If you have never experience an armored hunt, you are in for a treat!! As the Knight Marshal for our event, Bring Out Your Dead 2.0, on November 8, 9 & 10, I am looking for the following participants to make this HUNT extra special and extra fun! 1. BEASTS!!! A hunt must have beasts to hunt. Have you ever considered being a Boar? or Stag? or Dragon? We are in need of *experienced* armored chivalric combatants to play the part of our BEAST. We will provide you with a tabard with your Beast for identification purposes unless you wish to provide your own beastly costuming. 2. HUNTERS!!! A hunt must have hunters! Forming a team of two or more armored (or archery) combatants, you hunt and slay the vile beastie! 3. DOGS!!! A hunt needs DOGS to find the beast! These non-combatants need to have sturdy footwear, gloves, knee-pads, elbow pads and a hat. These people need to enjoy howling, baying, chasing stuff and generally acting like dogs! 4. Distractor Creatures!!! DOGS get distracted by rabbits, squirrels, and other small creatures found in the wild. These are also non-combatants who wander about getting chased by the dogs who should chase them. 5. BARDS!!! The HUNTERS need BARDS to record and glorify their deeds against the dreaded BEASTS! These non-combatants follow the teams at a safe distance and sing of their deeds at court and at feast that evening. 6. MARSHALS!! 1 marshal per team is required to handle the dogs and to marshal the fight between the hunters and the beasts. As you can see, this is a fun scenario that can involve many people who normally get no chance to participate in the fights at events. Come on out and see how much fun you can have!

10 Populace Meetings held the Second Monday of each month. Our meeting place is: Kinsman Lutheran Church Champion Forest Drive Houston, TX Meetings Start At 7:30pm Kinsman Lutheran Church is situated on Champion Forest Drive south FM 1960 West road. Armored Fighter Practices in Gate's Edge will be held on FIRST and THIRD Sunday Mornings at 10am. It is suggested that you always check the calendar so that you are aware of any cancelations, conflicts, or changes in days, times and locations. The Gate's Edge practices are held at Meyer Park in Spring, TX. The fighters will be on the south side of the park just to the right (west) of the entrance between the parking area and Cypresswood Drive.
