3 Letters from the Coronet & Baronial Officers From Your Baron: It has come to my attention that some of the statements I made at the Baronial Business meeting are no longer true. Sir William Thomas realized that most of the people fighting under his banner were from Black Diamond and wanted to side with Stierbach...so he felt he had to withdraw his offer to fight on our side. The Baron and Baroness of Nottinghill Coil have also discovered that many of their Barony wish to fight against Sacred Stone...so they are declaring themselves Neutral and allowing members of their populace to fight for whichever side they wish. Baron Axel From the Seneschal: Greetings! August as always has been a busy, busy, month. Pennsic, then Flight of the Falcon and then our Baronial Birthday, kept us running from the beginning to the very end! The fall looks like it will be just as bustling with Coronation, WoW and The Hunt At Charlesbury Manor. Due to real life issues Lord William, who was set to take over Baronial Marshal will not be able to do so. Because of this we are doing a new call for letters of intent for this position. That call will be placed later in this issue of the newsletter. Also coming up soon is the polling for Baronage to replace Baron Axel this coming spring. I made the call for letters at the August 21st Baronial meeting the letters will be accepted until the October meeting which will be held on the 24th. A formal call for those letters will be later in this issue as well. As always, Lady Murienne From the Chronicler: I hope everyone that went to Baronial Birthday had a great time. Next major thing? 4 Letters of Intent for Coronet of Sacred Stone Calling for letters As most of you know Baron Axel will be stepping down in April of next year. Now this may seem a bit early but we are putting out a call for letters of intent now. It was announced at the Baronial meeting yesterday and will be in the September newsletter. The deadline for the letters of intent will be at the October Baronial Business meeting. The letters will be published in the November newsletter. The polling itself will go out in January. Exact dates for the polling will be worked out with Their (then) Highnesses. So if you would like to be considered for the upcoming polling please send your letters to me at dragonfly78@gmail.com. Once all of the letters are in I will pass them along to the Baron, the Kingdom Seneschale and Their Highnesses. Letters of Intent for Baronial Marshal Baron Achbar is stepping down as Baronial Marshal. Lord William who was set to replace him has had to step back and will not be taking the office. This means that we are in need of a new Baronial Marshal. This is official notice of the call for letters to fill this office. All potential candidates need to be current paid members, and warranted as a marshal. They must also be able to meet any addition requirements as layed out in the Kingdom and baronial policies. Letters should be sent to the Baron, the Seneschale, and the outgoing Marshal at the addresses listed in the regnum. We will accept letters for this office until August 15th. The letters will be published in the October issue of the newsletter. The new office holder will be announced at the October business meeting.

5 AUGUST BARONIAL MEETING Seneschal Report Happy to report 19 people were in attendance at the meeting There was no meeting last month due to Pennsic. Exchequer Report Current Balance- $ Checks have been written this quarter for $ for WoW, $200 for the Children s Fete, $121 for thrown weapons targets, $50 for stakes for baronial gallery pavilions, $1, for Baronial Birthday. Deposits made in this quarter include $ for Baronial Birthday, $ for WoW. Herald Report Haven't been to anything due to RL kicking butt. But, free events equal the happy Niccolina. Was at flight of the falcon yesterday, and spoke with some new people on the scribal arts and heraldry. They seemed pretty interested. Also spoke with a few people about names and devices who are already in the sca. Axel held court, and there were 4 pieces of business. Serena de Almendara was inducted into the order of the phoenix eye for her crack monkey artistry skills. Symon de Ipswich was given the award of the phoenix garnet for his services. Faolin was inducted into the order of the yeomen, which was a long time coming, for his excellence in archery. Baroness Arnora was inducted into the order of the Sacred Stone for her flying crack monkey like service (watch out gise!). Marshal Report Heavy This is Achbar s last month as Baronial Heavy Marshal, he is being replaced by Lord William of Oland. There is a need for youth marshals to encourage youth activities. Line marshals needed for SSBB and for WoW. Rapier Lord Raven has stepped down as Baronial Rapier Marshal, Lord Guntram has stepped up. He is looking for people to assist him. Rapier practice is being held throughout the barony and a request has been made for assistance in Middlegate. The rapier community is steadily growing including three newcomers in Middlegate.

6 Archery Archery practices have flourished throughout Barony for the summer due to the Challenge thrown down by Ld. Lorelei to increase the Royal Round Average from 15 June-15 Aug. THL Christophe has been tracking those scores and they will be announced at SSBB. He hasn't even told me who the winner will be. During SSBB, several archery position will probably be exchanged. The Baronial Champion and Youth Champion. Both are decided by a competition shoot along with the choice of the Baron. Also, the Phoenix Archery Guard will install any new members (RR over 42 points) along with the Captain of the Guard (highest RR average since last BB). Practices have been posted for regular practices in Crois Brigte, Charlesbury Crossing, Middlegate, and Salisberie Glen. The next big shooting event will be at WoW V. MoA&S Not present No Report Chatelaine Gold Key has been sorted and organized. New Deputy is Baron Achbar. Lady Catlin volunteered her popup for use at Newcomers point for WOW V. Chronicler Report Could not attend meeting, deputy chronicler, Lady Catlin attended in my place. Nothing new. Webminister Webminister requests that any errors on the website be reported to her so she can correct it. Coronet Report Baron Axel stated that Black Diamond will be fighting with the North at WOW V. Windmaster s Hill and Hidden Mountain will fight on the side of the South. He has secured Sir William Thomas and his crew to fight for Sacred Stone also. Nottinghill Coil would like to have him attend their war practice on September 17th. New regulators have been purchased for the baronial torches. CANTON REPORTS Aire Faucon Flight of the Falcon was a success. 70 people attended,20 of them newcomers. Feast was well attended. A job well done by both Autocrat and Feastocrat. Baelfire Dunn Resuming meeting at the school now that the air conditioning is back on. Considering alternate dates for Drums of War.

7 Charlesbury Crossing Sept. 11th Day in the Park, regional fight practice, rapier practice with a potluck afterwards. Moved A&S to Tuesday evening at 7:30. Working on plans for Hunt at Charlesbury Manor at the end of October. Jamilla received a Silver Knot for feast at Flight of the Falcon. Crois Brigte Making plans for Winter Solstice the second week of December at St. Timothy s. A&S and archery practice every week. Middlegate Be sure to come get some Ice Cream at the Middlegate Ice Cream Sale at SSBB. Salesberie Glen Performers Revel Sept. 11th will be held at Lord Guntrum s house. Thursday A&S and archery. Sunday fighter practice at 2:00 pm in the park. Youth combat for the first Saturday of the month is in the works. OLD BUSINESS Baronial beautification Nothing new Novice Tourney One person is working on a bid for the second weekend of April. Rapier Marshal Lord Guntrum will be the new Rapier Marshal. Stakes for Gallery Pavilion- 24 new 22 inch stakes made by Ivarr have been purchased. Directional Signs Lord Alain donated 65 pieces of corrugated plastic to be used for signs. Saving the barony $120 previously allocated for signs. NEW BUSINESS Call for letters of intent for Baron /Baroness Letters from candidates wishing to be considered for Baron and or Baroness are due to the Baronial Seneschal no later than the October 24th business meeting. Baronial Birthday Date Change Much discussion about moving Baronial Birthday to April and combining it with Investiture. The idea will be tabled on at the next meeting.. UPCOMING EVENTS SSBB PERFORMERS REVEL SOUTH DAY IN THE PARK DEMO CORONATION WOW V Next meeting will be held Sept. 26th, Salesberie Glen, at the park.

The answer will be in next months issue of the phoenix. I am a Lady. I grew up as a military brat. I am in a relationship. My partner is a member of the SCA. I have no children. I started in the SCA in I live in the Northern part of the barony. My interests are mainly in A&S, Service, & Fighting. I have been a member of a different Kingdom. The Baron and Baroness of my Barony when I joined were Marc & Alianor. I have served as an officer of a Canton, and a Barony. My Persona is from France, during the 13th century.
