2 Greetings! From the Baron/Baroness As nights grow longer and days grow cooler we are pleased to share the news that we have a new King and Queen! Queen Kateryn and King Edmund have taken the Dragon Throne, and have likewise secured heirs! We join the Kingdom in our joy at acclaiming Prince William and Princess Isolde as the newest heirs to the Crown. As winter grows closer, we are beginning to think of holiday celebrations and merrymaking. To that end, if you have recommendations for Baronial awards we might give at our Holiday Court, please write them in! Likewise, we are sure Their Majesties would welcome award recommendations for all the upcoming events in Their royal circuit. This is something we all can do to make the SCA more magical for those we see doing great things. Draco Invictus! Odile, Baronne Úlfr, Baron Hello, Sternfeld! From the Seneschal I am seeking candidates for a deputy to succeed me at some point in the next year. Being organized, tactful, and willing to work mostly in the background is a must. (chronicler@sternfeld.org) Please do not mention this elsewhere so that we get an accurate count of Sternfeld members who actually read this. From the Webminister We now have a timeline for the transition of the Webminister position to Ellbrig. She will be taking over as the group Webminister after the November, end of the year report. In the meantime, she is transitioning to do more and more with the website. Please continue to send changes, for the website, to the Webminister account : Webminister@sternfeld.org and they will continued to be handled without any noticeable difference. In Service, Torquil

4 From the Minister of Arts and Sciences Greetings! The artisans and scientists of Sternfeld are doing things, creating things, researching their interests. They are doing good, and I commend them all. Breddelwyn ap Taliesin From the Rapier Marshal Rapier continues to practice, regularly. We have a handful of new fighters starting to come in, including our own Lucia, whose excitement is a delightful addition to the group! From the Archery Marshal Practice continues at Francis Scott Key Elementary! We have some new archers coming out in addition to our regulars. Hooray for new archers!

8 October 20, 2016 Sternfeld Business meeting Reports Baronial - Ulfr - We re still a Barony and still here. The TOD bid is in limbo. TRM are working on the bids and will get back to us. Great Officers and Their Deputies Seneschal - Not many changes. There is a lot of transition going on and many seneschals are changing in the next year. At some point in the next year, Ysabel will probably step down and has talked to some people who were interested in the past. She is looking for a candidate. If you need SCA business cards, please see Bjorn at fighter practices. Chatelaine - Neku took over but still needs to get the change of office forms signed. Herald - There is nothing in particular going on with the herald s office. She needs a new deputy. Chronicler - We have a Star. I haven t had confirmation that I m warranted yet. However, I spoke to both our regional and kingdom chronicler about it. The regional is trying to get confirmation from kingdom that I m warranted. Please have your reports to me, for the Star, by Sunday. The plan is to transition the office to Ellbrig this spring. She will be taking over sometime this spring. Webminister - The Star has been published to the website. Torquil will be doing the November report and then stepping down. Ellbrig has the Better War site mostly up. Exchequer Saldis is seeking a replacement. Property Master Welcome, Rois! - We re having a work day on Sunday to clean up stuff from Pennsic. Armored Marshal - We re doing well. We re waiting to see how the Monday evening Al Jafar fighter practice at Hendrick s County Fairgrounds will affect our practice. There may be a mandate from Society for full on inspections at every practice, including helms. Nothing official has been done yet, but it s

9 already out in other kingdoms. Savarric is our new Earl Marshal and we re waiting until something official comes out. Rapier Combat Marshal - Rapier continues to practice regularly. We ve had several new fencers, including Lucia, whose enthusiasm is infectious. Archery Marshal - Practice continues at Francis Scott Key elem. We have new archers coming out. Equestrian Marshal - no report Minister of Arts and Sciences - Artisans are doing well and we should commend them all. Interest Groups: Brownsburg work day - we haven t rescheduled because only one person was coming. Dance - We had 50 people at practice. If more people from the SCA went, more people might attend SCA events. Costumers didn t happen this past month. Only Odette showed up. Other Offices Prize Czar - still has prizes. For those who are planning events, please see Graine for prizes. New prize money should be allocated at Allthing. Youth (OPEN) - Still want someone. This is for activities, not babysitting. Recent and Upcoming Events Better War Through Archery Bid Here! Updates - February 4th. Wulfwen needs volunteers for department heads and positions. Vlad has a draft feast menu completed and will have the ingredient list in the next week or two. They haven t heard if TRM or TRH will attend. Regional A&S will occur there. Grand Pageant in April - Bid from Odette 2nd Polling - We will save this on the calendar in case we need to use this as TOD. April 7 & 8. Lots of stuff TBD. Moira M. - Rapier, Collette - Dance classes and dance. The budget will need to be polled on separately.

10 Simple Day - Preliminary Bid from Hadley and Solveig - Passed budget and bid. 2nd polling next month, for the June 30th-July 2nd. Yule - Preliminary Bid from Saldis - has potential site but is still waiting to hear back on pricing. The event date looks like it may be on Jan. 7th. Demos - It was suggested that we do a demo at dance. The Ladoga Elementary demo went well. Hendrick s County has requested a demo out there. Discussion on other places to hold demos and recruit.
