2 2 of 8 10/17/2012 7:58 PM Our New Baron & Baroness of Stierbach! The heat of summer was just days ago but Fall is definitely upon us and We are happy for it. With Fall now here we can t help but think of our upcoming Fall events. I plan to attend the Coronation of Their Highnesses Vladimir and Kalisa, Baron Mors and I will both be in attendance at War of the Wings and also we will be there to defend our Chalice of the Sun God title. Baron Mors and I have been working on a few projects trying to get together our kits for combat archery. We are in the process of making armor and also combat archery bolts. We have learned a lot from the experience and are thankful that Viscount Richard has opened his home and had armoring sessions at his house. My demi-gauntlets are almost finished and the rest of my kit is coming together. My goal is to authorize at War of the Wings. Barons Mors' kit isn't quite as far along, but as he is getting there. We hope to be joining our heavy fighters soon, on the field. Others have been opening their homes across Stierbach and we would like to recognize them and thank them. Lady Alienor and Lord Reinmar had an open Barn last weekend and have been having Equestrian practice all spring and summer. Lord Grimm and Lady Gunnora at Grimmsfields for archery practice this season and lately have even had a few more practices for all to increase their archery skills. Lord Allen and Mistress Blitha of Wolfhou at House Wolfhou have been open on Sundays for archery, A&S, armoring, and gathering of all kinds. Lady Maven and Lord Arthur have also opened their home for gatherings and Arts and Sciences activities and meetings. Lady Amie with the St. Anne s Costuming Guild has been having classes for all those interested. Stierbach would not be the same without people opening their homes and sharing their skills and talents. Thank you all. The next Stierbach event is our beloved Holiday Faire event. Please support Lady Gunnora as Autocrat and Lord Grimm as our Merchant Coordinator for this event. There will be much help needed for this event to be successful. We will need many volunteers. If you would like to help at Holiday Faire please contact them at jeninewebb at gmail and grimm at grimmsfield dot com respectively. Baron Mors and Baroness Esperanza The cicadas' call Has once again receded Back into the brush Now the morning mists arise And the trees are set afire. Unto the people of Stierbach! Summer has passed and the autumn harvest is upon us. The drums of war still sound, as armies march out to meet on the field of battle, but soon the troops shall turn back to the fields to gather in the harvest. Then we shall celebrate as we prepare for the cold and dark that is to come. As we get closer to the winter months, our outdoor activities will be looking for indoor space--i encourage everyone to keep their eyes open for new opportunities. Is there a new activity you would like to see? Please reach out to the populace and see if there are others with similar interests. The Barony grows through people sharing their talents and interests with others. Keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming activities in and around our area. Coronation is this month, and Crown the following. Chalice of the Sun God will be held by our neighbors, Ponte Alto, up in Leesburg, and in November we will have merchants from all around come to sell their wares at Holiday Faire; a great chance for holiday shopping, but also filled with many other activities as well. Also, an administrative note: Another group has the library the first Wednesday of November. As such, we have reserved the next week, so our November business meeting will be on the second Wednesday of the month, rather than the first.

Open deputy positions, Knight Marshal, Rapier Marshal, Archery Marshal is taken by Lord Grim Tokenson, Minister of Minors, Amie Sparrow is deputy A&S, Deputy Chronicler, M'Lord Chadwick expressed some interested, deputy Minister of the List, and deputy Chantelaine. Ii very much looking for a deputy Seneschal. He is unable to attend Holiday Faire and was looking for a deputy to go to event in his stead. Post-Pennsic: Baroness Esperanza reported, 13 Rapier fighters, 12 heavy fighters, 7 archers on the champions team, many active Stierbach at Pennsic troll, heraldic services, A&S. Stierbachers at Pennsic were well represented. Events: Holiday Faire 2012: flyer in, Grimm gave for Merchant Application to those attending for view, Lady Elizabeth of Hadley Hall offered to do lunch for event with proceeds for toward Abhainn Iarthair. Abhainn Iarthair needs to decide whether they would like to do this. Also if they can provide some staff for helping. Baroness Esperanza to call new Meadows owners to see about that site for Holiday Faire Kingdom Rapier and Costume Symposium: $1300 with one janitor possible $1500. If Labor Day could be more. Could be possible 2 day event if on Labor Day. Guild suggest a 50%, 50% split with the Barony for the profits. To be put on the officers list for approval. Baronial Birthday 2013: Lady Josza to Autocrat, contract still needs to be signed but event is Spiked. No Event bids for Kingdom but Ii will look and see if he feels we should put something in for next month. Update for Abhainn Iarthair: Running of the Lemmings event in April. Lady Karin still getting staff. It was brought up that if AI was to do the lunch for Holiday Faire the start up could not conflict with the monies set aside for Running of the Lemmings. Practices Heavy & Fencing Indoor year round Heavy and Rapier fighter practice in the Manassas area: The Prince William Fencing Academy has offered us space at their gym for practice. Tuesday evenings from 7-9 pm at the Prince William Fencing Academy 8440 Kao Circle Manassas. It is just down the street from the library where the business meetings are held. This is the largest permanent Olympic style fencing gym in Virginia. That being said there are some specific rules that will need to be followed so that we don t break their equipment: To protect the metal floors no going to your knees for either heavy or rapier. Lanyards will need to be worn with rattan weapons. This will ensure no flying weapons since there will be non-armored combatants in the area as well as a wall of mirrors on one side and 2 scoring machines we don t want to replace. No great weapons again to protect the scoring equipment. There is an annual site waiver you will need to sign from the facility to practice. There is a floor fee of $15 a fighter. No street shoes or boots. Sneakers with non-marking soles only. Please contact knight-marshal@stierbach.org for more information on heavy weapons and fencing practices. Winter Archery Meets: Fridays. We have sewing machines, wood-burning, and leatherworking available if you would like to give it a try. Arts & Sciences classes will be posted to the Moo list. Cancellations will be posted to the Moo as necessary. We welcome newcomers on the first Monday of each month, and will try to have someone available to answer questions.
