4 From Their Excellencies Grüßen Sie den Tag. May was a month of many miles and big events. We would like to thank the Shire of Plattfordham for a wonderful event for the Coronation of Their Majesties Alrik and Salomea. And we would also like to extend our appreciation to the Barony of al-barran for a truly Grand Outlandish. Their graciousness in allowing us to host our traditional speed tournaments was exemplary of the spirit of the game we all play and love. Speaking of our traditional speed lists, we would like to congratulate the winners of said tournaments. The victor of our heavy list was Count Morgan from the Kingdom of Atenveldt, with the Chivalry prize being awarded to Lord Abjorn. The rapier list was dominated by Lord Hawkril, with the Chivalry prize going to Lord Sorkhan. We wish to thank everybody who participated in these tournaments, and we appreciate the sportsmanship that was exhibited. We also would like to thank Lady Lilje and Lady Inara for their hard work running the list. Battlemoor is fast approaching. Please make sure you have everything you need in order for the Outlands first interkingdom event. Outlands hospitality is lauded throughout the Known World, and this is our opportunity to show why that is. The event will need as many Volunteer Hours as you can put forth. If you are interested in helping out, please do not hesitate to contact us so we can put you in touch with the appropriate event coordinator. This event promises to be a very memorable occasion. Let us do our level best to make sure those memories are good ones. On July 10 th at 5:00 PM, we will be hosting a Baronial Question and Answer session at our residence for people to quiz the candidates for Baron and Baroness. This will be a potluck affair, so bring a side item, drink, disposable eating paraphernalia, or dessert to share with your fellow populace members. Last but not least, our Arts and Sciences event will be on July 24 th. Please prepare your entries, classes, and demonstrations for this event. We will also be performing a Baronial Polling at this time for everybody to express their opinion on the future of the Barony. As always, the Barony is in need of Deputy Officers. If you wish to serve in this capacity, please contact the Baronial Officer for that position and discuss it with them. Vielen Dank Citadel! 5 Business meeting minutes Minutes for the meeting held May 27 at the home of THLord Warmin and THLady Rois. (My notes inadvertently moved North ahead of me, so this is from memory. Please excuse any errors! Chronicler) Seneschal: All is well. Looking forward to Battlemoor. Ye Coli Inn will have a meal plan available; pre-payment is requested. Exchequer (reporting in absentia): We are solvent. We have not yet received funds from volunteer hours at Estrella. Chiurgeon: No injuries to report. Marshall (reporting in absentia): Good attendance at recent fighter practices. No injuries. (Also, Lord Wolf is the new Shield of Chivalry. Well deserved, Wolf! Chronicler) Rook (reporting in absentia): No submissions this month. Chronicler: Leaving the Citadel. Needs a replacement by Birthday in October. 6 From the editor The newsletter needs a new mommy or daddy. I am leaving Citadel (boo!) and need a replacement. Please contact me, the seneschal, or one of Their Excellencies if you are able to take over this maybe important and even somewhat fun duty. In the interim, please be patient if the newsletter is not as spiffy as we might want, as I am losing access to my software and will be chiseling the newsletter out on slabs of slate. Lady Lilje Widoeghe Chronicler, Citadel of the Southern Pass Citadel A&S & Baronial Polling Their Excellencies have announced their intention to step down from their positions as Baron and Baroness of the Citadel of the Southern Pass. To that end, they are accepting Letters of Intent from any and all interested in stepping up. Please have your Letter of Intent in their hands no later than June 30, They will provide copies to any other parties that require them. 7 Area Calendar Business Meetings Business meetings are on the FIRST Thursday of the month, 6:30 pm. This month s meeting will be at THL Warmin s home at 3017 Devils Tower. This meeting is mandatory for officers (in the event of an emergency, or inability to attend, please contact Lord Warmin to arrange for your report). June s meeting will be Thursday the 24th. Business meetings are open to all members of the SCA interested in finding out more about how the Citadel and the SCA function behind the scenes, and anyone is welcome. Fighter & Archery Practices Please contact Lord Wolf at marshal@scaelpaaso.org Citadel of the Southern Pass Fighter practice is held every Wednesday from 6 PM at the home of Mistress Leah and Sir Conrade, Fury Lane. Fighter practice is held every Sunday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM Mountain Time at Memorial Park. (To Memorial Park) Take I-10 and exit at Piedras Street (Exit 21B). Follow Piedras north and turn right on Grant. Follow Grant with the park on your left, and practice is at the circular parking lot.
