1 Issue One 11 m i c a ( p ) / 0 6 / st YHI Group Strategy Conference and 25th YHI Manufacturing Group Wheels Conference 第一届友发集团战略会议暨第 25 届轮圈会议 The inaugural YHI Group Strategy Conference was held in conjunction with the bi-annual YHI Manufacturing Group s 25th Wheels Conference at YHI Manufacturing (Shanghai) from April. The significance of this event was obvious as it saw the attendance of all Heads of YHI Group s subsidiaries and representatives, along with the Heads of Business Units. In his opening speech, Mr Richard Tay, YHI Group Managing Director, described his five-year plan and his direction to propel the whole Group in doubling the Group s revenue by This was followed by detailed presentations from the business units heads on strategic action plans to achieve the Group s goal through the multi-product, multi-category, multi-brand strategies. Critical support from Finance and HR was also comprehensively covered by our Group s CFO, Mr Gary Su, and Ms Amy Soo, General Manager of Group HR & Admin, 5S & Kaizen. During the Conference, the YHI Group s first 5S + Kaizen award ceremony was conducted to give recognition to the best performing Company from the Manufacturing and Distribution Division respectively. The winner from the Manufacturing and Distribution Groups for the year 2010 was YHI Precision Moulding (Shanghai) Co Ltd and YHI Corporation (Singapore) Pte Ltd respectively. Ms Jane Zhong of YHI Precision Moulding gave a presentation to share their success story and methodology and Mr Tay Tiang Guan, YHI Executive Director, representing YHI (Singapore) explained how the commitment from staff throughout the whole company, from bottom to top, has helped YHI (Singapore) clinched the prestigious award. 3 YHI Advanti (Shanghai) s Stellar Show at the Auto Shanghai 2011 友发集团 2011 年在上海国际汽车展上精彩盛况 3 The 14th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai 2011) was held in Shanghai New International Expo Center from 21 to 28 April. Themed Innovation for Tomorrow, this show attracted more than 2000 exhibitors from over 20 countries, exhibiting 1,100 cars (200 imported, 900 manufactured in China) with global automakers choosing to unveil 75 new models in the show. The total size of this exhibition hall was 230,000 sqm attracting 715,000 visitors, 2,700 international and local media and 9,872 journalists. China overtook the United States in 2009 as the biggest auto market and this show has become one of the industry s most anticipated event in the world as automakers look to the booming China market. Viewed as the key to gain a foothold in the largest auto market, European, Japanese, American and other global carmakers sent their top executives to the show. YHI Advanti Manufacturing (Shanghai) showcased YHI s proprietary alloy wheels brand, Advanti Racing, along with its other premium range namely OZ Racing, Breyton and Enkei. The design of YHI s booth combined elements of F1 racing, alloy wheels curves and designs, drawing much attention from the local and international visitors. Advanti s MAT designs as well as 2011 s new designs dominated the two biggest sections of the booth. Ever since the launch of Advanti s MAT flow formed wheels in 2010, the general brand perception and sales of the Advanti brand have soared in China. End consumers view Advanti s MAT as reliable, safe and value-for-money wheels. At this show, YHI Advanti (Shanghai) displayed four designs of MAT wheels to offer end consumers more choices and for the first time, Advanti multi-piece wheels was launched in China. Through this event, the technology advancement and unique designs of Advanti wheels were well exhibited. OZ Racing wheels were also a highlight of the booth. Representing the beauty of Eurostyle wheels, visitors were given the chance to experience close up, the elegance of this world class brand. The 20 inch Granturismo MGSDC (forged three-piece) from the Top Class series, the 20 inch Superturismo Dakar MRS from the All Terrain series, the 19 inch Quaranta GCDC (40th anniversary edition) and the 18 inch David MGDC from the Via Veneto series were launched in this show. OZ X-line s Wave, Adrenalina, Envy and Energy were also showcased. Breyton wheels attracted a lot of visitors as this is the first time a BMW tuner wheels brand is introduced in China. Suitable fitments for many popular BMW cars are available, resulting in heightened interest for this brand. Enkei wheels on display also appealed to Japanese car owners with many visitors admiring the eight designs on display. Advanti wheels were not only visible at YHI booth but all around the exhibition. At the car manufacturer s booth, Advanti logo could be seen on the cars at Shanghai GM, Ford, Subaru and at the tyre booths, Advanti wheels were flanked by Michellin, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Hankok and Nexen in their respective booths. This is an affirmation of Advanti s presence and preference in China. More than 50 businessmen from the automotive industry spanning across the Wuhan cities attended the event. During the conference, YHI Advanti Manufacturing (Shanghai) s Sales Manager, Mr Xian Jun Tai, briefed all about the Group s business development in China, the unique selling points of the wheels and the product range. He further touched on other world-famous brands distributed by YHI in China - OZ, ENKEI and Breyton on their brand images and product ranges. Besides introducing Advanti Racing Wheels MAT technology and the rim manufacturing process, the Sales & Marketing Manager, Mr Wang Fangyu, also elaborated on the business running tips and how to leverage on OZ, ENKEI and Breyton websites to reach out to customers. This is YHI Advanti Manufacturing (Shanghai) s first time organizing a product introduction conference in Hubei Province although Advanti Racing and other YHI product brands have already gained popularity in the local market. The conference had generated great interests among the industry players with representatives from Michelin, Bridgestone, Ruckus Hallmark, Pirelli, Hankook etc. attending the event and expressing interests to participate in Advanti promotion and having a stake in the domestic sales of all wheels brands distributed by YHI. 5 Neuton Truck Factory Drift Team in Australia Neuton 现身澳大利亚漂移队 5 The 2011 G1 Drift State Championship is an interstate drift competition in Australia designed for close racing and maximum spectator thrills. YHI (Australia) is deeply involved, sponsoring the successful Truck Factory Drift Team of 3 cars under YHI s Neuton brand. Round one was held at Mallala Motorsport Park in South Australia on 5 March where racers Chris, Jarrod and Steven performed well bringing in the Neuton sponsored cars to 39th, 10th and 31st position respectively. 8 8 Tyre Expo Asia 亚洲轮胎博览会 YHI (Singapore) participated in the Tyre Expo Asia 2011 held at Singapore Changi Expo, Hall 2 from 29 to 31 March. This year s event proved to be the largest scale in terms of the record number of exhibitors in its 15-year history, a testament of the robust automotive industry in the regional market. Three main product categories namely tyres, alloy wheels and batteries were showcased at the YHI booth. YHI s proprietary tyre brand, Neuton, was on display with its latest models NT8000, NT3000, NT5000, NS1000 and LV2000. Alloy wheels brands displayed included YHI s proprietary brand Advanti Racing as well as OZ, Enkei and Konig. For battery product category, YHI presented its proprietary brand, Neuton Power, alongside FIAMM and Hitachi brands. To make YHI s participation in Tyre Expo Asia 2011 more commemorative, the Advanti 15th Anniversary wheel, designed by world renowned German wheels designer, Mr Edmund Breyton, had its sneak preview at the YHI booth during the three day event. This attracted wide attention and generated great interests amongst the local media and visitors. During the exhibition, the constant stream of enquiries from customers and interested parties kept our staff busy throughout the event and the business potentials garnered were most encouraging. This event is by far one of the largest annual fairs as more than 2000 industry players from the technology and telecommunication sectors showed off the latest technologies and products. On display at YHI s booth was a comprehensive range of Trojan batteries for industrial applications. 9 9 TIME ATTACK 2011 SERIES 极品飞车系列一 YHI (Indonesia) sponsored the Time Attack 2011 Series 1 held at Sentul Indonesia track on 30 April to 1 May. Yokohama banners, flags, wheels standing racks showcasing Advanti Racing, Enkei and OZ Racing brands were lined up along the event s enclosure. A total of 75 cars participated in the event, consisting of five classes, namely Classic Car, K-car, RWD, FWD, and FFA. A special drift show by the Super Car (Ferrari, Porsche, etc) free run was featured to hype up the crowd. YHI (Indonesia) gave away three sets of Yokohama tyres for each of the three respective winners namely the Overall champion and winners in the FWD and FFA categories. The Tyre challenge segment in particular, proved to be an excellent publicity platform for Yokohama Advan tyres, especially Advan Neova s pattern. The tour of the three famous Chinese cities - cosmopolitan Shanghai, historical Hangzhou and scenic Suzhou featured visits to iconic landmarks and places of interests as well as savouring local cuisines. Fun Gardening at YHI Advanti Manufacturing (Suzhou) 苏州雅泛迪铝业有限公司各部门开心小农场 Creation of YHI Own Nursery General Affairs Dept Starting as early as 2007, employees have been encouraged to create green spaces in the factory so as to build a Garden in the Office. Each Department takes pride in setting up and maintaining their own mini gardens and are now proud to present their fruits of labour. In May this year, due to the relocation of nearby farmers, YHI took the opportunity to purchase their plants seedlings. The seedlings were first transplanted onto a large open space within the Company premises by the Management Department s staff to create a nursery for use by other Departments in their own mini gardens. The entire tour activities were peppered with visits to scenic tourist spots and employees were enthralled by the legendary stories. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, participants were also brought to view natural landscape where only streams, waterfalls, cliffs and rocks surround them. Reputed for its spectacular view and rich cultural history, Yandang Mountain is dominated by high towering rocks, fascinating caves and beautiful waterfalls that collectively resembles a typical Chinese scroll painting. Participants got to visit several famous scenic spots including Lingfeng Peak, Lingyan Rock, Dalongqiu Waterfall and many more. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, staff spent their time at the rural farm area, breathing in the fresh air and immersing in the gifts of Mother Nature. At the Wolong Valley, staff trekked through the mountains to seek the famous 200 meters waterfall. Physically strong men took the unusual route and crossed over treacherous track while weary ladies were aided by their male counterparts. Excitement exuded from their faces when they chanced upon beautiful sceneries from time to time and could not stop snapping pictures of it. During the returning journey, Assistant Wu led the front team to prepare lunch while Mr Xian was assigned to be the last to guide the rest to the correct track. Throughout the journey, the Company s laudable team spirit was fully exhibited! Back at the bus, Zhang Junqiang led the singing session with staff and tour guide taking turns to perform, setting off hilarious laughter amidst the merry-making atmosphere. During the trip, employees visited many ancient monuments and were enchanted by the scenic views along the way. 14 14 友发 ( 新加坡 ) 周年晚宴 With the theme of Uniform Fashion Runway, more than 120 staff and guests immersed themselves in the fun-filled Annual Dinner & Dance 10/11 on 26 March at Raffles Country Club. In his annual address, Mr Richard Tay, YHI Group Managing Director, shared YHI Group s record achievement in FY2010 in terms of turnover profitability and the target to achieve S$1 billion turnover in the 2011 to 2015 Five Year Plan. Mr Tay also outlined the pertinent requisites for members in the different management functions in YHI HQ to contribute to the achievement of the Five Year Plan and beyond. He encouraged all staff to continue to give their very best to YHI. Once again, the spontaneity of staff proved to be the highlight of the evening with many donned in different occupational uniforms including cook, air stewardess, waitress, soldier, student, scientist etc. Many were seen posing for pictures with the astronaut who was mingling among the crowds in his attention grabbing space suit. The celebrative mood during the dinner created an atmosphere of camaraderie and bonding as staff and guests partied away with sumptuous cuisine, stage games, song and dance performance. The annual awards for long service employees, Best Employees and Best Management Employee were also presented to deserving staff drawing loud cheers and applause. 15 Staff Appreciation Day at YHI Manufacturing (Malaysia) 友发 ( 马来西亚 ) 员工感谢日 15 On 8 May, YHI Manufacturing (Malaysia) held their Annual Staff Appreciation Day cum Teambuilding Day at The Royale Bintang Resort & Spa, Seremban. In the day, there was a series of fun activities during the Royale Race teambuilding segment whereby the participants formed into 16 teams headed by staff from the rank and file. They had to explore in the jungle settings and surmount obstacles such as lake crossing, shooting, treasure hunt as well as indulged in other fun-filled activities like barbeque, fruits carving etc. YHI Group Managing Director, Mr Richard Tay, gave his full support by joining in the game. The interaction and team spirit fostered and displayed by the staff comprising eight different nationalities were dynamic and inspiring in spite of language barriers. The group of more than 65 staff sets off in high spirit to the Land of Smiles and was pampered with opportunities for shopping sprees and relaxing traditional Thai massage and fun at the beach. Besides being treated to a sumptuous dinner at local restaurant, a city tour was arranged to visit the local produce factories, Wat Chalong temple as well as Kinaree Shooting Range where staff played to their heart s content in thrilling activities such as live firing, Go-kart, Paintball Battle and many more!
