2 FEB 2010 TWIN STATE NEWSLETTER PAGE 2 PRESIDENT S REPORT by Ed Miller Well, if anyone looks outside, you will sure realize it is nearly race season here in the Ohio/PA. area. Ummmm, not really! Let s hope this was our St. Patrick s day snow, early. The King modifieds left on Saturday for Florida in this mess. I am sure they will be thrilled to be gone. Russell had already left the week before, so they didn t have to trek through this lovely weather. Unfortunately the Stan Hover Motorsports is heading home in this mess without making the ARCA race at Daytona. 20 year old California driver Brad Lloyd had trouble getting the Stadelhofer Construction Ford Fusion up to speed and was only 42 nd fastest, and did not have any owner s points to fall back on. For anyone who hasn t seen Hover s new race shop in Warren, once completed it is going to be top notch. I don t know all the details, but he will pretty much be doing what he had in the past, building dirt cars, bodies, and selling parts. It is on McMyler Street on the west side. I hope everyone is excited about the upcoming Eastwood Mall show, March Much time has been spent in making this a successful venture. We are pleading with all entrants to follow all rules (including myself) especially as they are very strict about the new carpet. So PLEASE check all bolts, fittings and such to make sure nothing leaks or stains anything. We won t ever have another chance for another show if anything goes wrong. While at the mall, make sure you let the stores know why you are there. Mall manager Kenny Koehler agreed that it was one of the busier weeks the mall had when we were there. As a bonus to all Buckeye fans, definitely not including myself, Mr. Penn State, Saturday March 13 there will be several Ohio State football players signing autographs in the afternoon. So come spend the day.. eat, shop and be merry! We are planning on having some videos and pictures at the table, along with our own autograph night on Saturday. I also hope everyone is planning on attending our driver s reunion in April, at the Lordstown Administration Building. Once one attends one of these, you will certainly understand why I am so passionate about starting a Hall of Fame for the club. These guys were so much bigger than life to all of us. Legends like Bill Forney, Mike Klapak, Jimmy Bickerstaff, Lou Blaney, and Tom Jarrett, have not nearly received the recognition they have deserved. Ray Robbins will have his outstanding model car display of all the local racers on hand. Photos (thousands) from many collections will be on hand, as well as some restored race cars. And you also can t forget the stories: THERE MAY EVEN BE A LIE OR TWO TOLD! If some of these tales were true.. we will save that for another time! If anyone would like to share any photos, please do so! Spread the word.. we would love to make this an annual event! Club nights are coming along well for Club members will have many free nights once again. Hopefully mother nature will cooperate, as she hasn t done such a good job the past few years. Keep in mind that our March 16 meeting will be our annual Promotor s night. It will be held at the Lordstown Administration Building and is the most attended meeting of the year, so please plan to attend. Your Prez, Ed Miller. This from Dick Berry V. Prez. My Grandson, little Jeffrey Christy fell and broke his right arm, between the elbow & shoulder. An X-ray showed he has a cyst on the bone at the break, and surgery or bone graft will probably be required. He will have to go to Akron s Childrens Hospital on Monday the 8th. Prayers please. He ll be laid up for a while. Get well cards would be greatly appreciated. Send cards to my address on page 6, & thank you so much. DB.

Over the last 3 months I have gained new respect for those worried family members after having to deal with all those emotions with Judy I will never again be the big strong guy with the best advice not that it was or is wrong only that I had never experienced that initial shock of seeing the one you love that way. They tell me experience is the best teacher in this case I would have chosen to stay ignorant but when God is in charge we must obey and at times it is very painful. When I took my first look at the one I love the tears and emotion came in floods and nothing could be said to make it stop the one thing I desired most at that time was someone to cry with me and share my pain not be the strong person that has never know pain and wonder of whats next.
