I owe a sincere debt of gratitude to Lisa Ochoa, who really earned an official Assistant Editor position for all her hard work on this issue. She did all the ads in this issue that weren t submitted as camera-ready. In a true display of heroism, she even did the ad for Yours Truly s own dog. Now that is above and beyond! Without Lisa s help, I m not sure I would have gotten this issue done before the end of 2014, much less my hard deadline of before the AWC National. THANK YOU LISA!!! This issue includes the final 2013 rankings, including the free ads featuring Top Ten winners in both racing and conformation, and photo feature of all the Honorable Mention dogs, as well as a very special surprise. It also includes the complete list of all 2013 title-earners. In the interest of time, I have decided to hold all results from the 2014 meets to date, and the early 2014 Top Tens and Titles for the next issue, but if you are just dying to know, in the meantime, you can find all that information and more on the CWA website. The next issue will be our annual Memorial issue, with its special advertising theme featuring tributes to human and canine friends loved and lost. Though always bittersweet, sharing your memories of your dearly departed helps keep them close in the hearts and minds of all who loved them. Of course, regular advertising is always welcome at the regular rate of $15 for a full page. The deadline for ads and other submissions will be May 31st. 6 Continental Whippet Alliance Race Meet May 10-11, 2014 Fort Mott State Park 454 Fort Mott Road, Pennsville, NJ ENTRY PRE ENTRY CLOSES WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 2014 Pre-Entry by $15 first entry, $12 subsequent entry per household ($45 household) Day of Entry: $20, no household rate Supplemental conformation entry $3.00 entries should be sent to the race secretary. A completed entry blank with entry fee must be submitted to the secretary at inspection. MAWRA Match racing will be offered both days in between programs for adult whippets which are not able to be registered with CWA or need group racing experience prior to their first official entry in a CWA meet. Check in during inspection with the meet secretary. Match racers shall only be checked for bitches in season or lameness. Racers with breed standard disqualifications are eligible for match racing. $10/dog 3 programs, PRIZES!

FI UCH Burnt Sienna Midsummer Breeze [ bred by Lisa Winder ] Despite running only part of the year due to other commitments, we are very pleased that Tristan earned 11 th place (tied) in CWA conformation, just 1 point out of the Top 10. Thank you to all the judges that appreciated him. He obtained his highest meet points to date in the spring, remaining in the high point races for 3 of 4 heats and earned a Top 10 placement in very competitive racing. He puts his whole heart into it. Tristan had an exciting year, finishing his American Championship in the fall with two 5 point majors at both WWWA Specialties (WD/BOS and WD/BOW), beautifully presented by Linda Buchholz. He followed it up with his Canadian Grand two weeks later, owner handled. He finished his Rally Novice with a perfect 100 point score and in 3 of 3 trials, was a high-in-trial Whippet at the WCOBC agility trial, and then completed his Starters Games title. He also sired his first litters, and we hope to see some enjoying CWA in the future.
