By C K Subramaniam A rare white tiger with a pale skin color has been spotted for the first time in the Nilgiris by a wildlife photographer, arousing interest among conservationists and forest officials on whether it is a true genetic mutant. The white tiger or bleached tiger is a pigmentation variant of the Bengal tiger, which is reported in the wild from time to time in the Indian states of 5 Indian White Tiger Madhya Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar. The scientific name of the White Tiger is Panthera tigers, since it is merely a different coloured version of the Bengal subspecies. As expected, the White Tiger is far lighter in its colouring than the more common Bengal Tiger. The majority of its coat is a light Main attraction cream colour, with very light brown or grey stripes. A group of tigers is called a streak or an ambush. In the wild tiger is known for not staying in groups and are solitary animals. However, man-made environment may force them into unnatural social groups. 6 6 Issue : July 2018 FIFA World Cup 2018 was very interesting FIFA World Cup 2018 had a lot of surprises and excitement. It was most entertaining. The final was a thrilling spectacle featuring surprises, errors, and loads of goals. France, which secured its second World Cup, was the best of the lot. French were workmanlike, conservative, efficient, organised, and clinical. Deschamps achieved the ultimate objective. Kylian Mbappe, who at 19 became the youngest to score in the World Cup final since Pele, showed glimpses of his extraordinary potential. France had players of African descent making up over half the squad. This was a World Cup of shocks: Germany crashed out in the opening phase. Spain and Argentina faltered in the round-of-16, and Brazil in the quarterfinals. The likes of Croatia and Uruguay advanced farther than expected. Russia put on a great show as host. The baton has now been handed over to Qatar, which in 2022 will host a winter World Cup for the first time. FIFA has approved the expansion of the World Cup to 48 teams in In cricket, surprises are welcomed by the fans because cricket is a game of glorious uncertainties. But football is a game of, by and for individual brilliant players. Fans would not relish unexpected victories or losses. If this trend continues sooner or later the game would lose the spectators. The French captain commented about France s multicultural society, which got reflected in its national team & its performance & they are feeling very proud about it. We Indians should take similar pride in our plural nature & nurture it without falling in the trap of communal game of politics by some political parties. We always wait for FIFA world cup for four years. We too follow the preliminary rounds. Football is a people s game & should remain a people s game but football has been hijacked by corporate sectors. There are corruption, scandals, political meddling. There are business tuned to crores & crores. The crisis ridden European countries used this FIFA to hide their economic crisis & raise raw Nationalism. As a whole it is the victory of Black power & migrants. So we can say WE ARE THE WORLD & People without border. For India football should be promoted. At least football grounds should be given to play in all schools. Rest will emerge in India. We have enough talents. Even though the results are unexpected and there was no proving excellence by branded teams and players, the spirit of the game was kept and the hosting country made good reception and hospitality both to the players and the fans of football. Even in the global tournament to come only spirit of the game is to be cherished rather than celebrating branded countries for their nuanced performance. 18 July 2018 Tirunelveli Gandhidham Humsafar Weekly Express Timing Revised Till Oct 2018 End PANVEL: On account of the implementation of Monsoon time table by Konkan Railway on its route till Oct 31st, 2018 the timings of Tirunelveli Gandhidham Humsafar Express plying over Central and Western Railway too has also been revised. Bengal tigers often live in the dense jungles of Asian countries like India and China, while Siberian tigers are found in Russia. White tigers are generally Bengal tigers born with a genetic defect that prevents the orange pigmentation for which tigers are typically known. White tigers have been repeatedly inbred to preserve the colour of the coat. The White Tiger is a Bengal Tiger which is a species listed by the IUCN as endangered and therefore severely threatened in its surrounding environment. Estimates of around 100,000 Tigers found in the jungles and mangrove swamps of Asia were made at the beginning of the 1900s, but today there are thought to be less than 8,000 Tigers in the wild, with around 2,000 of these being Bengal Tigers. There are no White Tiger individuals known to be found outside of captivity. The White Tiger (also known as the White Bengal Tiger) is a subspecies of Tiger, found throughout the Indian subcontinent. Although the range of the White Tiger is historically very large, these animals are incredibly rare as their colourization is dependent on a defective, recessive gene that is passed on from their parents. Over the past couple of centuries the White Tiger has become even rarer in the wild due to trophy hunting or capture for the exotic pet trade, with there having been no recorded sightings of these elusive predators for the past 50 years. Today, the White Tiger can still be found in a handful of zoos and animal sanctuaries around the world with these large and beautiful felines often being the star attraction. It is time to preserve the endangered species. Visit our e-paper at : Download paperboy mobile application visit our paper.

Passengers may avail the services. Storm in milk cup State wide strike by dairy farmers turned destructive as agitating farmers pour mils on late Maharashtra chief minister YB Chavan s memorial. It is a matter of shame that an essential item like milk is thrown to the drain in the name of protest. When millions of children in India are suffering because of malnutrition, wasting milk in a agitating way is not good for the society. Milk revolution was brought to India by Dr. Kurien Verghese and now the name is spoiled through a strike. How long we can see the height of intolerance in India. Why the farmers are protesting when they are getting good yield price for their products. When the Chief Minister is ready to discuss, why then this unrest. The farmers are in collision course. This may create an artificial scarcity of milk in main cities like Mumbai and surrounding areas. It is understood that the Letters to the Editor... shortage of supply will be felt from day three and the scarcity of milk may shoot up the price for milk packets. House wives will feel the heat. People especially young babies will suffer because of the shortage. It is time to stop such agitations with an amicable solution. - Jayanthy S. Maniam, Sion East Pothole blues continue It is indeed a traumatic experience for road users in Mumbai city. Even the highways are having potholes and that hamper the traffic. Traffic snarls are seen on focal points and the Sion-Panvel highway suffered the most. CBD Belapur bridge was a bottleneck in the past for the expressway travellers and with potholes and craters the position has be- come bad to worse. Motorists were caught unaware and the five hour jam saw long Que of vehicles on the street. Instead of completing the repair work during night hours and that too in a phased manner. The chaos continued for 6 hours and it is waste of time as well as energy. If the condition of the bridges are so bad, the plain roads in the city showed pathetic with full of potholes. Potholes pose problem for two wheelers, while four wheelers are troubled with craters. With water filled in all the potholes, maneuvering the vehicles is a herculean task for the drivers. Thus the pothole blues continue and the pain undertaken by both the drivers and the pedestrians is horrible. BMC is cutting a sorry figure as their rain readiness promise has gone to the winds. The potholes woes will continue for two more months till the end of monsoon rains. It is now or never situation and a wake up call for BMC. - C.K. Subramaniam, Sanpada
