Barnes shot 76.1 percent (102-of-134) from the charity stripe in , which was the highest free throw percentage he recorded since coming into the league in The highest field goal percentage Barnes has posted for a season was 48.2 percent (316-of-656) in Barnes has led the Mavericks (or tied for the lead) in scoring 36 times this season, after he led Golden State in scoring only six times in his 307 games with the Warriors (3 times in and 3 times in ). It was Dallas biggest comeback of the season (the Mavericks previously overcame a 15-point second-quarter deficit to win at San Antonio on 1/29/17). It marked the first time the Mavericks came back to win after trailing by more than 20 points in the second half since 12/30/08 versus Minnesota. In that game, the Mavericks overcame a 29-point third-quarter deficit to beat the Timberwolves (which is Dallas biggest comeback in franchise history firsthalf or second-half). It was also tied for the fourth-largest second-half comeback in Mavericks history (Dallas previously overcame second-half deficits of 29 in 2008, 24 in 2006, 22 in 2001 and 21 in 1995). Dallas come-from-behind win over Utah was the second-largest second-half comeback in the NBA this season (as of 2/9/17). YOGI FEASTS ON 3-POINT BASKETS IN WIN AT PORTLAND: Yogi Ferrell, an undrafted rookie who signed a 10-day contract with the Mavericks on 1/28/17, appeared in his fourth game with Dallas (14 th career) at Portland on 2/3/17 and poured in a career-high (game-high) 32 points (11-17 FGs, FGs, 1-2 FTs) to go along with two rebounds and a team-high five assists in 39 minutes in the Mavericks win over the Trail Blazers. The 6-foot point guard out of Indiana became the first undrafted rookie in NBA history to score 30-plus points in a game in which he also led his team in assists. He also became just the third undrafted player in league history to score 30-plus points within his first 15 career NBA games, joining Connie Hawkins and Anthony Morrow (Hawkins posted 39 and 35-point efforts in his 8 th and 10 th career NBA games with the Phoenix Suns in 1969, while Morrow scored 37 points in his 4 th career game with the Golden State Warriors in 2008). If you limit it to undrafted rookies, then the list would only include Morrow and Ferrell (Hawkins played in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1969). Ferrell went 9-of-11 (.818) from beyond the arc against the Trail Blazers, tying the NBA rookie record for 3-pointers made in a game. MATTHEWS COMPETES IN 2017 JBL THREE-POINT CONTEST: Mavericks guard Wesley Matthews competed in the 2017 JBL Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend, which took place at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Saturday, Feb. 18. The event was part of State Farm All-Star Saturday Night and was shown live on TNT. It was Matthews second time taking part in the competition (he finished fourth in the 2015 Three-Point Contest held in Brooklyn as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers). Houston s Eric Gordon won this year s event, while Matthews failed to advance to the second round. The rest of the eight-player field included Golden State s Klay Thompson, Cleveland s Kyrie Irving, Toronto s Kyle Lowry, Portland s C.J. McCollum, Charlotte s Kemba Walker and the L.A. Lakers Nick Young. Matthews became the ninth player in Mavericks history to take part in the competition, joining Dale Ellis (1986), Detlef Schrempf (1987, 1988), Derek Harper (1989), George McCloud (1996), Hubert Davis (1998, 2000), teammate Dirk Nowitzki (2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2008), Steve Nash (2001, 2002) and Jason Terry (2006, 2007). He was also the first Maverick to take part in the contest since Nowitzki in Nowitzki is the only Maverick ever to win the competition, bringing home the title in 2006 in Houston. MAVERICKS COLLECT BIG COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN AT SAN ANTONIO: The Mavericks erased a 15-point second-quarter deficit (56-41) to win at San Antonio on 1/29/17. The Mavericks trailed by 10 (54-49) at the half in that game, but came back to defeat the Spurs by four. It snapped the Spurs streak of 117 straight wins in home games that they led by at least 10 points at the half. That streak, which started on 3/28/08, was the longest of its kind in recorded NBA history (halftime scores of some games from the NBA s early years are not known). It also snapped a 12-game losing streak for the Mavericks in San Antonio (it was Dallas first regular-season win in San Antonio since 11/26/10, ). MAVERICKS CONTINUE STREAK OF DOMINANCE OVER LAKERS, SWEEP SEASON SERIES WITH L.A.: Dallas swept the season series with the Lakers, 4-0, winning all four games by double digits and an average margin of 21 points. The Mavericks extended their winning streak against the Lakers to 14 games (11/15/13-3/7/17). It s their longest active win streak against any team and their longest ever win streak against the Lakers. The Lakers have not defeated the Mavericks since 4/2/13 ( at the STAPLES Center). The Mavericks handed the Lakers their most lopsided loss in franchise history on 1/22/17, defeating Los Angeles by 49 points (122-73) at home. The Lakers previous two worst losses both came by 48 points, most recently, , at Utah on 3/28/16 (the Lakers also lost to the Clippers by 48, , on 3/6/14). The 49-point defeat occurred on the 11-year anniversary of Kobe Bryant s 81-point game (81 vs. Toronto 1/22/06). The Mavericks previous most points in a game this year was 121 in their ( ) season-opening overtime loss at Indiana on 10/26/16, while their previous fewest points allowed in a game this season was 75 in their (86-75) overtime win over Milwaukee on 11/6/16.
