3 SEASON NOTES: New and Improved Aminu: Through four games Hornets F Al-Farouq Aminu has been filling up the stat sheet averaging 12.5 points, 2.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and leading the team in rebounds (9.3) and steals (2.0) per game. Aminu set a career-high in rebounds in the loss against the Philadelphia 76ers on 11/7 with 16 rebounds. Super Sub: Hornets forward Jason Smith has been a model of consistency coming off of the Hornets bench. He is averaging 10.5 points per game on 60.0% FG shooting, which is good for a tie for 12 th overall in the NBA. Additionally, he is grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game and blocking 2.0 shots per game in average of just 16 min of action. Swarming Defense: As a team, the Hornets are averaging only 83.5 points per game. However, they are smothering the opposition on the defensive end. Additionally, The Hornets projected starting five for Friday 11/p against the Charlotte Bobcats has an average age of just 22. The average age of the entire Hornets roster is just 24 years of age. The entire Hornets roster combines to total 38 years of experience in the NBA. That means the average NBA experience of the Hornets is just under three years. Only two of the players on the Hornets roster are at or above the age of 30: Roger Mason (32 years), Hakim Warrick (30 years). These two are also the only Hornets that have more than four years worth of NBA experience (Mason 8, Warrick 7). Familiar Face Finds Fit Off the Court With the Hornets games now being broadcasted by Fox Sports New Orleans, former Hornet David Wesley returns to the franchise as the color commentator for FSNO. The Hornets began play during the season in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of four expansion franchises granted that season. After fourteen seasons in Charlotte, the Hornets relocated to New Orleans prior to the season. The franchise had just started unpacking in their new home when Hurricane Katrina forced the Hornets to temporarily relocate to Oklahoma City in 2005 for the next two seasons. The Bees would return to the Big Easy for the season and recorded a franchise-best 56 wins en route to the franchise s first-ever division title. In the 25 year history of the franchise, the Hornets have compiled a (.486) record. The franchise has made 12 playoff appearances and compiled a (.417) record in the NBA playoffs. The Hornets first playoff appearance came in 1993 under head coach Allan Bristow. The Hornets finished during the season and advanced to the second round of the playoffs, falling in 5 games to the New York Knicks. That team featured NBA All-Stars Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning as well as the franchise s all-time leader in assists, Tyrone Muggsy Bogues. Vasquez finished the preseason with consecutive double-double performances against the Miami Heat (18 points/10 assists) and Houston Rockets (13 points/11 assists). Going to work at the Hive: After pouring in 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists in the home loss to the Rockets on 10/24, forward Ryan Anderson is averaged 18.0 points per game at the New Orleans Arena during the preseason. In two contests, he shot from beyond the 3- Point Arc (.769). Double Trouble: Three different Hornets recorded double-doubles against the Heat 10/26 after only two players had recorded double-doubles in the seven games prior this preseason. Vasquez recorded his second consecutive double-double performance with 18 points and 10 assists, but Anthony Davis and Al-Farouq Aminu also joined the ranks of Hornets players with double-doubles. Davis led the team with 24 points and 11 rebounds against the Heat, while Aminu chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds from the bench. In a loss to the Rockets on 10/24 at home, Point Guard Greivis Vasquez recorded 13 points and 11 assists. In the loss on 10/22 Hornets starting center Robin Lopez recorded his second double-double of the preseason with 14 points (7-12 FG) and 11 rebounds. Seven of his rebounds came on the offensive glass while helping lead the Hornets to 17 second chance points. Lopez s first double-double came in his first game in New Orleans Arena on 10/9 against the Charlotte Bobcats with an 18 point, 13 rebound performance in the Hornets victory.

Swarming Hornets: The Hornets defense has been stifling through eight preseason games. They allow the 3 rd fewest points per game in the NBA (89.3 points) and hold opponents to the just 41.3 percent from the field, fifth best in the league.
