We are both eager to learn new things and hope that we can continue to build on this fantastic family club that our previous presidents and committee

Our current committee has some new faces and some ongoing members on it, and as a group we are all keen and eager to have a fantastic year.

Hi All SCYC Families, As you all know at the recent AGM Sam Wheeler and myself (Shelley Taylor), became incoming Presidents of our Basketball Club. We both have been involved in the club at a miniball level for a number of years now and both have children still currently playing miniball and also playing in u9 s and u10 s. We both have a long history at being involved with basketball at a domestic and representative level for over 45 years (that s collectively, not each we are not that old, even though our kids think we are!) With this experience and involvement in the game we hope to bring a lot of enthusiasm and success to SCYC. We are both eager to learn new things and hope that we can continue to build on this fantastic family club that our previous presidents and committee have worked so hard to achieve. Our current committee has some new faces and some ongoing members on it, and as a group we are all keen and eager to have a fantastic year. We are also more than happy to get input from our players, coaches and families with any suggestions or feedback they may have. 3 South Croydon Youth Club News... Dear Members and Families, Hi my name is Denis and I have been President of our Youth Club for two years. I have a fantastic group of people helping run our club. Vice President: Matt Bass Secretary: Cathy Davidson Treasurer: Kerry Sheppard COM Representative: Denis Liston Basketball Representative: Scott Stelfox General committee: Joan Liston, Amanda Howell, Peter Feller CLUB ROOM: I would like to invite all members to come down and relax while your child is training in our club room. We have tea and coffee available also heating to keep you warm. You can watch TV, we have colouring paper and pencils for the children. Our rooms are open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 4pm - 9pm. We ask that if you are the last team training for that night that all electricity is switched off and that all doors are locked. We are now sharing our room temporarily with Maroondah Calisthenics who rent the stadium on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Over the next few months there will be new lock up cupboards installed in our room by the council. The Future of South Croydon Youth Club: We are looking to the future for our club and would like Cheong Park to be brought up into the 2000 by upgrade the facilities for everyone at Cheong. South Croydon Youth Club AGM: I will be stepping down as President this year and wish to thank everyone for doing the best for the club and wish the future committee the best for the future. The Youth Club s AGM is coming up in August We encourage all members to come and attend and come on the committee and have your say. All positions will be open. The committee positions are: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Committee Of Management Representative, Basketball Representative and General Committee. Good luck to all players and their teams for the winter season Thanks Team coordinators. New Balls... We are fortunate at the moment to have a number of new basketballs available to coaches for training sessions in the Cheong Park Stadium. As these balls are only for training sessions only the coaches are permitted to access the cupboard in which the balls are kept. It is then the responsibility of the coach to make sure that each ball they have taken and used is returned to the cupboard. Hopefully this will help to alleviate the problem of new balls going missing. Thanks... Under 12 B Girls Greg - Coach We have had a couple of exciting new girls in our Under 12 B team this year Aleijah and Isabel that have jelled into the team very well and is a fantastic effort to be playing with such confidence in their 1st season of Under 12 s B Grade. Hayeon playing her second season of basketball is growing in confidence every week and Kieley, Hayleigh, and Sarah playing consistant basketball every week in their last season of Under 12 s. The team, coach and parents are hopefully looking forward to playing in the finals which would be a fantastic result for the majority of the team playing B grade for the second season only.
