8 Girls basketball: North Olmsted hits the boards, beats Lorain Filed on November 30, 2015 by Bob Daniels LORAIN North Olmsted went to work on the backboards in the second half, fended off two Lorain rallies and went home with a non-conference win over Lorain on Monday night. The Eagles (3-1) got nine points each from the Kemp girls, senior Stephanie and junior Juliana, seven by Stephanie in the fourth quarter. We talked at halftime about slowing down with the ball and run our offense a little more, not go at their pace and take it at our own level, Stephanie Kemp said. We fought back because we wanted it more. Lorain held the lead twice, 3-2 and 7-6. The game belonged to North Olmsted thereafter. The Eagles tied it at 7 by the end of the first quarter, then went on a 7-1 run that consumed most of the second. They led at the break, with Juliana Kemp scoring five of her nine points. The Eagles Anne Bloomfield scored five of her seven points in the second half. Stephanie Kemp held a hot hand in the fourth quarter when she nailed North Olmsted s only 3-point basket. Lorain junior Tremia Blair scored six of her team-high seven points in the second half. Freshman Normajanae Bohannon finished with six, including the Titans only 3-pointer. Bohannon is the sister of Naz Bohannon, Lorain s heavily recruited football and basketball star. 8

We re not a bad scoring team, but we force things sometimes, sometimes we take ill-advised shots or shoot too quick. But we held them to 34 points and 34 points in a varsity game, you should win. We have some inexperienced kids out there and we just couldn t put the ball in the basket. 9
