You have to fly to Buffalo and then bus an hour-and-a-half to Olean, N.Y. You enjoy the deluxe accommodations as the Castle Inn. Following the game, you load up the bus and head back to Buffalo, N.Y. to catch an early flight home the next day. And now the bad dream has turned into a nightmare. The Bonnies, always tough at the raucous Reilly Center, have turned it up a notch and moved into the elite of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Entering their Jan. 21 match-up with Rhode Island, the Bonnies are 10-5 overall and have a two-game winning streak. A year ago, St. Bonaventure was 10-2 at home and Coach Jim Baron's squad is 5-1 at the 6,000-seat Reilly Center this season. Making the assignment even more daunting is the fact that the Rams are 0-9 away from Keaney Gymnasium this season. In , Rhode Island posted a 4-21 mark away from campus. Convocation Center Update Ground breaking for the new 8,000-seat Convocation Center took place on Oct. 14 as part of the Homecoming festivities. Part of Meade Stadium was demolished to make room for the largest capital project in the 108-year history of the University. The new facility is expected to host its first event in the fall of 2002.Financing for the $54 project will include $18 million in state dollars, $15 million in private gifts, and the remainder in revenue bonds. On New Year's Day, Mobley had an abscessed tooth removed just prior to Houston's game with Minnesota. The operation took place on the trainer's table, without anesthesia, in front of his teammates. Mobley shrugged off the pain and went on to score 30 points. "It was really hurting. It was real hard to play," he said. "Whenever I ran up and down, the air would hit it." Ouch! -4-

Rhode Island Basketball Notebook Raining Threes In the last seven games, Ram opponents have averaged 9.3 treys. The Rams have made just 5.3 and have shot 31-of-1-9 (.284).
