2 State, Northern Michigan at Minnesota State, and Alaska at Alaska Anchorage. The two remaining weekends that include five WCHA series are Feb and March 7-8. At the BGSU Ice Arena (5000) this weekend, Bowling Green (6-7-3, WCHA, 9 points) will play host to Alabama Huntsville (0-14-0, WCHA) in a pair of league encounters. The Falcons, who are an impressive overall on home ice so far, have lost three straight league games by a single goal. The Chargers, meanwhile, have suffered five one-goal setbacks to date and continue their quest for their first victory. The second two-game series between BGSU and UAH will occur on Jan. 3-4 in Huntsville. In Houghton, Michigan Tech (6-8-2, WCHA, 9 points) will face-off against visiting Bemidji State (5-8-3, WCHA, 11 points) in the only regular season series between the two clubs. Face-offs at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena (4466) are at 7:07 pm ET both nights. Returning home from a near two-week stay in Alaska, this will be only the second time so far this season that Tech has hosted a two-game WCHA series. MTU, overall on home ice, is over the last three games and over the last eight. Of the Beavers eight losses overall, four have come by just one-goal with three of those in league play. One of the highlight match ups this week will occur in Sault Ste. Marie on December 6-7 when Lake Superior State (9-4-1, WCHA, 10 points) entertains league-leading and red-hot Ferris State (11-2-2, WCHA, 18 points). Puck drops at Taffy Abel Arena (4000) between the two WCHA teams with the best overall records are at 7:37 pm ET on Friday and on Saturday. The Lakers are at home while the Bulldogs sport a mark on the road. Three of Lake Superior s four setbacks, and both Ferris State losses, have come by just one goal. After this series, the Lakers and Bulldogs don t meet up again until the final weekend of the regular season March 7-8 in Big Rapids. In Mankato this weekend, pre-season WCHA favorite Minnesota State takes on Northern Michigan at Verizon Wireless Center (4832) at 7:37 pm CT on Friday and on Saturday. The Mavericks (7-7-0, WCHA, 10 points) have won three straight league games and are on friendly ice. The Wildcats (6-6-2, WCHA, 9 points), forging a mark over their last six games overall, trail the Mavericks by a single point. Game times are at 7:07 pm AT both evenings. The Seawolves (6-6-2, WCHA, 8 points) and Nanooks (5-7-2, WCHA, 4 points) will conclude their four-game regular season series on the final regular season weekend, March 7-8 in Fairbanks. Alaska Anchorage, unbeaten at home so far at 5-0-1, is over the last eight contests while Alaska has dropped four straight in league play, with three of those losses coming by one goal and the other by two. To date, 44 of the 140 conference games on the schedule (28 games per team), or 31.4%, have now been completed. Twenty-one of those 44 (47.7%) WCHA games have been decided by one goal, seven have ended in two-goal differentials, and six have wound up as ties. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, three teams Lake Superior State, Michigan Tech and Minnesota State recorded WCHA sweeps to bank four points each while Ferris State gained three points on the road. In Sault Ste. Marie on Nov , Lake Superior State earned back-to-back, come-from-behind 4-3 victories over Bowling Green. In the series opener, third period goals from wingers Matt Johnson at 4:06 and Gus Correale (GWG) at 13:35 gave the Lakers the win,

3 despite being outshot A power-play goal from BG winger Bryce Williamson (1g, 1a) at 2:04 of the third put the Falcons up 3-2. Defenseman Zach Loesch also had two assists for the Lakers, including one on the winner. In game two, LSSU again came back from a 3-2 third period deficit as centers Dan Radke (2g) and Bryce Schmitt (GWG) scored goals at 11:03 and 14:02 respectively. For the Falcons, winger Dajon Mingo notched two goals. Michigan Tech continued a two-week swing through the state of Alaska, gaining 3-2 and 2-1 WCHA wins over the host Nanooks in Fairbanks. In the series opener last Friday, a three-goal MTU surge in the second period, with tallies from D Shane Hanna (1g, 1a) at 0:58 and two straight from RW Alex Petan (2g, 1a) at 4:49 and 8:09 (GWG) pushed the Huskies to victory. In nets for MTU, Pheonix Copley had 30 stops. For Alaska, winger Garrick Perry had a second period goal to close the gap to one. In game two last Saturday, a second period power-play tally from Hanna at 0:26, the game-winner from center Tanner Kero (1g, 1a) 5) while shorthanded at 10:49, and 28 more saves from Copley enabled the Huskies to complete the sweep. Scoring the lone goal for the Nanooks was center Cody Kunyk, who moved his club to within one with his tally at 3:03 of the third period. In Marquette on Nov , visiting Ferris State posted a 4-1 victory and 1-1 (ot) tie against Northern Michigan, enabling the Bulldogs to push their unbeaten streak to a nation s best 11 games and enabling them to stay unbeaten in WCHA play. Last Friday, FSU goaltender C.J. Motte stopped 32 of 33 shots on goal, LW s Kyle Schempp and Matt Robertson each had a goal and an assist, and defenseman Zach Dorer netted the game-winner at 16:54 of the first period. For NMU, Cohen Adair s PPG for NMU at 19:49 of the third broke up the shutout bid. Then last Saturday, the Bulldogs and Wildcats traded second period goals in a 1-1 overtime draw. LW Matt Robertson scored on the power-play at 9:50 for FSU while LW Jake Johnson netted a game-tying, man-advantage goal for Northern Michigan at 14:17. And in Mankato on Nov , Minnesota State recorded its first league sweep of the season with 3-2 and 7-3 decisions over visiting Alaska Anchorage. Last Friday, the Mavericks line of LW Jean-Paul Lafontaine (1g, 1a), C Teddy Blueger (2a) and RW Zach Lehrke (1g, 1a) combined for six points and defenseman Sean Flanagan scored the game-winner unassisted at 3:10 of the third period. For UAA, goals from centers Matt Bailey at 18:51 of the first and Brett Cameron at 5:06 of the second knotted the score at 2-2. On Saturday night, seven players had multiple-point games for MSU, led by LW Jean-Paul Lafontaine (2g, 1a), D Zach Palmquist (1g, 2a) and C Matt Leitner (3a), and the Mavericks connected on 5-of-7 power-play chances to gain the sweep over the Seawolves. Scoring the game-winner was winger Johnny McInnis on a power-play at 19:56 of the first period. For UAA, LW Scott Allen had two goals, giving him nine on the season. Outside the WCHA over the Thanksgiving holiday, Bemidji State and Alabama Huntsville were engaged in non-conference play. The Beavers tied (4-4 ot) and lost (3-6) at home to NCHC-member Miami while the Chargers dropped both of their games at the Shillelagh Tournament in South Bend. On Nov. 29, three successive third period goals, including an extra-attacker, game-tying tally from defenseman Sam Rendle at 19:17 of the third period enabled the Beavers to overcome 3-0 and 4-1 deficits and gain the tie. RW Brendan Harms led BSU with 1-1=2. On Nov. 30, Miami broke up a 3-3 third period tie with three straight goals to gain the victory. RW Radoslav Illo led the Beavers with a pair of goals. At the Shillelagh Tournament last Friday, center Jeff Vanderlugt had both goals for UAH in a 5-2 loss to host Notre Dame of the Hockey East Association while Matt Larose had 39 saves in nets. In the third place game on Saturday, the Chargers fell 1-0 to NCHC-member Western Michigan as Carmine Guerriero stopped 28 of 29 Bronco shots on goal. Following those results, WCHA-member teams stand a combined (.432) in non-conference play through 59 games this season. Looking ahead to the second week of December, Ferris State will open the slate on Wednesday, Dec. 11 with a single non-conference tilt at Big 10 Conference-member Michigan. There will be four WCHA series contested Friday and Saturday, Dec , as Michigan Tech hosts Bowling Green, Alabama Huntsville entertains Minnesota State, Alaska heads to Bemidji State, and Lake Superior State travels to Alaska Anchorage. Those will be the last league games until the new year. Outside the WCHA on Dec , Northern Michigan plays a two-game set at NCHC-member North Dakota while FSU takes on host Michigan State on Saturday in the Hockey Hall of Fame Game in East Lansing. In this week s USCHO.com Div. 1 Men s College Hockey Poll issued December 2, Ferris State is ranked No. 6 nationally while Lake Superior State is up to No. 14. Also receiving votes in the poll from the WCHA was Minnesota State. And in the latest USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Div. 1 Men s College Hockey Poll issued December 2, Ferris State is ranked No. 7 nationally while Lake Superior State is No. 13.

FSU s Czarnowczan Among 20 Ice Hockey Candidates Announced for 2014 Senior CLASS Award OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (Nov. 7, 2013) Twenty NCAA men s ice hockey student-athletes who excel both on and off the ice, including Scott Czarnowczan of Ferris State University, were selected as candidates for the Senior CLASS Award in collegiate hockey. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Div. 1 senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Of the 20 candidates, 12 have grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher. There are two ACHA All-Americans from last season. The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men s Frozen Final Four in April. WCHA Playoffs, WCHA Final Five, NCAA Men s Tourney Info The first round of men s WCHA playoffs will be contested the weekend of March 14-16, four best-of-three series that feature the top eight finishers in regular season competition. The No. 1 seeded team will host the No. 8 seed, No. 2 will host No. 7, the No. 3 seed will host No. 6, and the No. 4 seed will host No. 5. Following the first round, the four winning teams will advance to the 2014 WCHA Final Five, set for Friday and Saturday, March 21 and 22, at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI. The two semi-final match ups on Friday will have the No. 3 seed vs the No. 2 seed at 2:07 pm ET and the No. 4 seed vs the No. 1 seed at. On Saturday, the Broadmoor Trophy championship game will face-off at 7:07 pm ET, with the winner receiving an automatic bid to the NCAA tourney. The 2014 NCAA Men s Division 1 Ice Hockey Championship tournament will open the weekend of March with four regionals. On Friday and Saturday, the East Regional will be held at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT while the Midwest Regional will be played at US Bank Arena in Cincinnati, OH. On Saturday and Sunday, the NCAA Northeast Regional will be held at DCU Center in Worcester, MA and the West Regional will be at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN. The four regional winners will then advance to the 2014 NCAA Men s Frozen Four (national championship), to be played Thursday, April 10 and Saturday, April 12 at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.

12 WCHA Team Notebooks Chargers University of Alabama in Huntsville The Alabama Huntsville Chargers slipped to over the Thanksgiving weekend, falling to Notre Dame 5-2 on Friday (Nov. 29) and Western Michigan 1-0 on Saturday (Nov. 30) in the 2013 Shillelagh Tournament in Notre Dame, Indiana. In last Friday s loss to No. 10/11 Notre Dame, Jeff Vanderlugt scored twice for UAH, connecting on his second and third goals of the season. Vanderlugt finished on a no-look shot from the crease and also put his stick on a blue-line shot, redirecting it into the back of the net. On Saturday, Alabama Huntsville suffered their sixth shutout of the season, but allowed just one goal in a tight 1-0 affair against Western Michigan. WMU scored just two minutes into the game and the Chargers finished 0-for-5 on the power-play. UAH will stay on the road this coming weekend of Dec. 6-7 when they visit Bowling Green in WCHA action. Bowling Green holds a all-time record against the Chargers. The Chargers are averaging just 0.93 goals per game and are allowing 4.50, both last in the WCHA. Alabama Huntsville is 5-for-61 (8.2%) on the power-play this season. Alex Allan, Chad Brears and Jeff Vanderlugt have each scored three goals this season to lead the UAH team. Regan Soquila, Frank Misuraca and Steven Koshey have recorded three assists apiece, which is the highest total on the team. Ben Reinhardt and Brandon Carlson have accounted for the most blocks on the blue line, counting for 32 and 31 blocks respectively. Following this week s two-game conference set at Bowling Green, Alabama Huntsville returns home on Dec when they host Minnesota State in WCHA play. Seawolves University of Alaska Anchorage The Alaska Anchorage Seawolves who are undefeated at home at host in-state rival and new conference member Alaska Fairbanks for the first of two Alaska Airlines Governor s Cup series this season. The Seawolves and Nanooks will square off Dec. 6-7 in Anchorage at 7:07 pm AST both evenings, before the Cup continues, March 7-8 in Fairbanks. The overall win-loss record will determine the Cup winner. The Seawolves lead the all-time series record vs UAF, and in Anchorage The Nanooks come to the Sullivan Arena with a threegame winning streak against UAA. The last UAA win was on Feb. 24, 2012 in Anchorage. UAF leads the Cup record, After UAA won three straight from , UAF captured the Cup title in 2010, 2011, 2012 and UAA leads in the last 15 outings. The Governor s Cup, which started during the season, has gone into a shootout to determine the winner on six occasions last was 2012, with UAF winning the shootout, 3-2. This will be the first time since that the Governor s Cup was a four-game format. The Cup started as a two-game contest and continued for six seasons before changing to a four-game format for nine seasons. In the Cup reverted back to a two-game format up until last season. The Seawolves host the Nanooks following a WCHA road series at Minnesota State. The Mavericks swept the series, 3-2, 7-3. Following the weekend, the Seawolves are 8th in the WCHA standings with eight points already doubling their point total from a year ago. UAA s six wins already surpass the win total from a year ago (4). The Seawolves haven t started at home since the season when they swept Kent, RIT and U.S. International for a start at home. The last time UAA posted five straight wins at home was in , sweeping Air Force, Denver and Wisconsin. UAA failed to score first in either game at MSU, but is when doing so. After the weekend, UAA is tied for No. 1 in the WCHA overall stats for power-play, clocking in at 21.6% efficiency (16-for-74). Their power-play ranks tied for No. 18 in the nation. On Nov. 9, the Seawolves registered a season-high six goals, including a season-high five power-play goals just one shy of the school record. The four PPGs in the third period broke the school record the Seawolves had three PPGs in a period vs N. Arizona in 1984 and Notre Dame in UAA is now in WCHA openers since joining the league in , compared to the program s in season openers since The only UAA wins in WCHA openers came in and Individually, the Seawolves are led by senior F Jordan Kwas and junior F Scott Allen with 13 points each. Allen had two goals on Nov. 30 at MSU and leads UAA with nine goals. Allen recently had a hat trick on Nov. 16. Kwas, who also has a hat trick this season, has scored 14 of his 22 career goals on the power-play. Kwas leads UAA in WCHA scoring with eight helpers. Kwas leads in points among current UAA skaters with 71. Also scoring for UAA over the Nov weekend was senior F Matt Bailey for his eighth of the season and junior F Brett Cameron, who returned to the lineup after missing the four games with an upper-body injury. Bailey leads the nation with four game-winning goals and leads all current UAA skaters with 35 career goals. Registering a multi-point weekend was sophomore Blake Tatchell (1g, 1a) for a four-game point streak with 1-4=5.

13 Weekly Team Notebooks con t Nanooks University of Alaska Alaska will head to Anchorage this week for a two-game WCHA series against rival UAA, Dec. 6-7, at Sullivan Arena. This will mark games one and two of the Alaska Airlines Governor s Cup for Alaska holds a 12-8 advantage in the 20-year history, which includes wins in the last four years. Last weekend, the Nanooks dropped both league home games to visiting Michigan Tech, by scores of 3-2 and 2-1. MTU used a string of three goals over 7:11 of the second period to win last Friday s game, behind a two-goal, one-assist night for Alex Petan. Alaska led 1-0 after the first and this was the first time all season Alaska failed to win after leading into the first intermission. Tyler Morley and Garrick Perry scored for the Nanooks in game one s defeat. The next night, the Huskies scored twice, once on the power-play, and another with bad timing on a turnover to allow them to score shorthanded. The Nanooks scored early in the third but couldn t manufacture another goal, resulting in a 2-1 loss. Cody Kunyk scored on a rebound while Justin Woods notched his first career assist and Nolan Youngmun got the secondary helper in his first game back since Oct. 11 when he suffered a hand injury. Sean Cahill made the starts in nets this past weekend and made 42 saves on 47 shots faced in the two outings against Michigan Tech. The Nanooks are currently on four-game losing skid and have lost six of seven after starting the year Senior Cody Kunyk currently has 104 career points, which is tied for 23rd on the all-time program list with head coach Dallas Ferguson. Kunyk has 48 goals and 56 assists while the bench boss had 17 scores and 87 helpers during his career. This weekend s games open up a four-game road trip for the 'Nooks as they won t be back in Fairbanks until Jan. 3-4 against Minnesota State. They travel to Bemidji State Dec for a two-game WCHA set next week prior to finals. Beavers Bemidji State University The Bemidji State men s hockey team hosted #12 Miami for a non-conference series Nov BSU rallied from a 4-1 third period deficit to push last Friday night s game to overtime and earn a 4-4 non-conference draw. On Saturday, BSU battled back to tie the score on two occasions before the RedHawks scored three third period goals to take the game, 6-3. In a rivalry that got its start in 2000, the RedHawks lead the all-time series, 5-2-1, which includes a mark in Bemidji. However, BSU is in its last five meetings with Miami. BSU is in non-conference play this season, which includes a mark in non-league home games. Last Friday s 4-4 tie marked the first time this season BSU has escaped a loss when opening the third period trailing its opponent. BSU is now in those games. It also marked the first time the Beavers have rallied from three goals behind to escape with a win or tie since netting a 6-5 overtime victory at Minnesota Duluth Dec. 9, Sam Rendle s extra-attacker goal in the series opener on Nov. 29 marked the Beavers first since Brance Orban netted a goal with an extra man March 15, 2013 in an eventual 2-1 overtime loss to Minnesota. After scoring just 10 goals in the third period in its first 14 games of the season, BSU netted a season-high third-period markers last Friday. Nearly 48% of BSU s goal scoring (23 of 48 goals) this season has come in the second period. Ruslan Pedan has scored all seven of his points this season (3g, 4a) on the man-advantage. Cory Ward scored his team-best ninth goal of the season last Friday. Ward opens the WCHA series with Michigan Tech riding a four-game scoring streak. Since Nov. 22, the sophomore has three goals and an assist. Markus Gerbrandt (8g, 5a) and Danny Mattson (2g, 11a) currently lead BSU in scoring with 13 points apiece. The Beavers penalty-kill snuffed out 6-of-7 of Miami s power-play opportunities in the series. BSU has now killed 10 of its opponents last 11 PP opportunities dating to the third period of its Nov. 22 game vs LSSU. Bemidji State has snuffed out 59 of 69 (.855) opponent power-play opportunities to rank 10th in nation. BSU has faced three nationally-ranked opponents in according to the USA Today poll. BSU is in those games. BSU was 2-for-9 on the PP vs Miami, bringing its power-play unit to 13-of-65 (.200) on the season. The Beavers scored on their second PP Saturday to snap a PP scoring slump of 12 chances dating to Nov. 22. Defenseman Carter Struthers made is his collegiate debut last Saturday. He finished with one shot on goal and carried an even plus/minus rating. Sophomore G Reid Mimmack made his first collegiate start last Saturday. He posted 23 saves and allowed six Miami goals in the loss. He is now in two career appearances with a.829 SV% and a 4.28 GAA. Radoslav Illo and Danny Mattson each netted their 40th career points in the series vs Miami. Illo leads current Beavers with 43 points (20g, 23a) while Mattson has 41 (9g, 32a) and leads current Beavers with 32 helpers. This season BSU has averaged nearly a goal and half more on Friday (2.375) than it has in Saturday (3.625) games. The Beavers move back into WCHA play this week with a trip to Houghton to battle Michigan Tech. In a series dating back to 2007, BSU and MTU are tied, However, BSU is winless in its last four meetings with the Huskies, BSU is all-time in games played on the Huskies' home ice, with the win coming on Feb. 12, 2011 by a 1-0 score.

14 Weekly Team Notebooks con t Falcons Bowling Green State University Bowling Green s ice hockey team went in WCHA play last week on the road against 16th-ranked Lake Superior State University with a 4-3 loss on Friday night and a 4-3 setback on Saturday. The Orange and Brown are currently tied for fifth in the WCHA. The Falcons are overall, and own a mark in league play. Bowling Green will return to BGSU Ice Arena to play host to visiting WCHA-member University of Alabama Huntsville. The Falcons own a record on their home ice this season, and holds an unbeaten record of against the Chargers all-time at the BGSU Ice Arena. Over the month of November, the Falcons played arguably their toughest stretch of the year. The Orange and Brown played in three road series, all coming against a ranked opponent during that time. Bowling Green came away with a mark on the road, and went overall in November. This weekend s series marks Bowling Green s sixth straight against a WCHA opponent. In all, the Falcons will have 14 straight league games in a seven-week span before playing in the Three Rivers Classic Dec at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh. 40% of BGSU s goal scoring (19 of 48 goals) this season has come in the second period. The Falcons have outscored their opponents in the period, which marks their best goal differential (+4) against an opponent in a period this season. Bowling Green scored two power-play goals last Friday night (Nov. 29). It marked the first time the Falcons scored multiple PPG s since netting three on Nov. 1 against Alaska Anchorage. Sophomore forward Dajon Mingo tallied two goals last Saturday night (Nov. 30), giving him his first two of the season. It marked the first time Mingo scored in 26 games, dating back to last season. Dan DeSalvo, who was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 5, recorded his third multiple-point game of the season with 1-1=2 in the Falcons 4-3 loss to LSSU. It marked the first loss for Bowling Green on the season when DeSalvo records at least two points in a game. Senior Bryce Williamson (Seba Beach, Alberta) added to his season point total with an assist last Friday night (Nov.29). The right-hander had the primary helper on Brent Tate s gol in the second period. Williamson s point total now stands at 7-8=15, good for first on the team. The marker proved to be the game-winning goal in a 5-4 triumphant win over Western Michigan on Dec. 6, Bulldogs Ferris State University Nationally sixth-ranked Ferris State began an eight-game road stretch by taking three of a possible four weekend points as the Bulldogs skated to a 1-1 (ot) tie against Northern Michigan in last Saturday s (Nov. 30) Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) series finale at the Berry Events Center in Marquette. The overtime deadlock pushed the Bulldogs nation-leading unbeaten streatk to 11 consecutive games as the Bulldogs are now and have not lost since Oct. 18. FSU also held onto first place in the WCHA standings as the Bulldogs own a current overall record along with a league record. FSU won last Friday s (Nov. 29) series opener vs the Wildcats by a 4-1 score in Marquette and received another solid weekend performance in net from junior goaltender CJ Motte, who remains the nation's winningest goaltender and is still unbeaten on the season at on the year. Ferris State racked up seven penalties for 25 minutes in last Saturday's series finale and the Bulldogs penalty total included three key penalties in the third period. One of them resulted in a 5:00 major penalty with the Wildcats owning the man-advantage for nearly all of the overtime session, but the Bulldogs penalty-kill unit was up to the task and killed it off to preserve the tie. Ferris State entered last Saturday s series finale leading the country in the RPI and pairwise rankings, which help determine the NCAA Tournament field at the end of the season. The Bulldogs now own a current mark in road action to date this season. This year mared the fourth consecutive season in which the Bulldogs have traveled to Marquette to face the Wildcats on the Olympic ice sheet at the Berry Events Center. FSU has now recorded three wins and two ties over the last six matchups vs NMU in Marquette dating back to the campaign. The Wildcats will return to Big Rapids for two games later this season. Ferris State currently owns a seven-point lead atop the WCHA standings and still has yet to drop a conference contest in its debut season in the conference. The Bulldogs will play one final WCHA league series in the 2013 calendar year as they visit Lake Superior State this weekend (Dec. 6-7) for a two-game league set in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. Friday s series opener begins at 7:37 pm ET with the finale on Saturday slated for a puck drop. FSU will then visit Michigan and Michigan State in back-to-back non-league road contests on Dec. 11 and Dec. 14, respectively, before the holiday break. Ferris State remains sixth and seventh in the country in this week s two major national polls released today. Bulldog sophomore winger Matt Robertson has notched a goal in five-straight games to date, including the Bulldogs lone marker of the night in this past Saturday s overtime tie at NMU. Ferris State and Lake Superior State will face off for the 124th and 125th times this weekend as they have been playing against each other since The Lakers hold a advantage. In the last 34 outings, the Bulldogs are The two teams split a pair of matchups a year ago in Sault Ste. Marie with the Lakers earning a 4-1 victory in the opener (11/9/12) before FSU responded with a 2-1 triumph in the finale (11/10/12). 15 Weekly Team Notebooks con t Lakers Lake Superior State University The Lakers defeated Bowling Green 4-3 in both games last weekend (Nov ) to record their first-ever WCHA sweep. The Lakers improve their Friday record to It was also their fourth and fifth straight games decided by one goal. During Saturday play, LSSU broke a four-game losing streak that dated back to Nov. 2 with last Saturday s 4-3 victory over Bowling Green. LSSU moved into a tie for third place in the WCHA with Minnesota State. The Lakers are overall and in the WCHA with 10 points. LSSU and MSU both have two games in hand on first-place Ferris State and second-place Bemidji State. Ferris State and Lake State have had three common opponents Bemidji State, Bowling Green and Alaska. Against those teams, the Bulldogs were 5-0-1, while LSSU was Heading into this weekend, the Bulldogs are coming off a road win and tie against Northern Michigan. Ferris State was held to five goals against NMU, which proves to be the least amount of goals scored during a series for the Bulldogs. The Lakers, who are coming off an eight-goal series, scored the most goals in a series this season since the Oct series at Union. During the season, LSSU split with FSU at the Taffy Abel Arena. The Lakers defeated the Bulldogs, 4-1, and lost, 2-1, Nov. 9-10, Senior defenseman Zach Sternberg (2-4=6) tallied a goal and an assist, while junior forward Stephen Perfetto (1-9=10) netted two assist against the Bulldogs last season. Senior defenseman Andrew Perrault (1-4=5), senior forward Dan Radke (3-9=12) and junior forward Chris Ciotti (1-6=7) added one assist each. Ferris was led last season against the Lakers by Justin DeMartino with two goals and one assist. Cory Kane added one goal and one assist while Simon Denis had two assists for the Bulldogs during the match-up. Overall, the Lakers lead the all-time record vs FSU, At home, LSSU is against the Bulldogs. In the last 10 meetings at the Taffy Abel, the Lakers are 7-2-1, dating back to March 3, Freshman forward Alex Globke leads the Lakers and WCHA freshmen in points and goals scored with 7-9=16. Nationally, Globke is third in rookie scoring. He is tied for second in overall WCHA scoring. Junior defenseman Kevin Czuczman (4-8=12) is tied for second for the Lakers in points and is tied for second in the WCHA overall in defenseman scoring. Radke is also tied for second for the Lakers in points and tied for first on the Lakers in assists with nine. Radke, Perfetto and Globke are tied for seventh in the WCHA in overall assists. Senior netminder Kevin Kapalka (5-3-1) leads the WCHA in overall save percentage (.938). Senior goaltender Kevin Murdock (4-1-0), who garnered his first WCHA last Saturday against BGSU, is second overall in win percentage (.800). Huskies Michigan Technological University Michigan Tech, which spent the last 13 days on the road for series at Alaska Anchorage and Alaska Fairbanks, took five of a possible eight points in the WCHA standings on the trip. The Huskies entered this past weekend on the road and earned two wins for their first road sweep since Nov , 2012, at Bemidji State. Tech is now in its last eight games Alex Petan tallied two goals and an assist Friday (Nov. 29) and an assist last Saturday (Nov. 30) to extend his point streak to eight games. The sophomore right wing has totaled eight goals and six assists this season for a team-high 14 points. Eleven of those 14 points have come during the eight-game point streak. The previous Tech player to have a streak of eight games or more was Colin Murphy, who recorded a point in 12 consecutive games between Jan. 18 and Feb. 25 of Pheonix Copley (North Pole, AK) improved his record to this season with both wins in net last weekend. The sophomore, playing near his hometown, stopped 30-of-32 shots Friday (Nov. 29) in a 3-2 victory and 28-of-29 shots Saturday (Nov. 30) in a 2-1 triumph. Copley leads the WCHA and ranks 11th nationally in goals-against average (1.98). He is tied for second in the league and 12 in the country in save percentage (.931). Tanner Kero (Hancock, MI) factored into both goals in a 2-1 win at Alaska last Saturday (Nov. 30) to run his season point total to 5-6=11. The junior assistant captain had an assist on Shane Hanna s power-play goal early in the second period. He added a shorthanded tally later in the frame, which stood up as the game winner. Kero s 11 points rank second on the team. He s score 10 of those points over the last eight games. Tech, which has played 11 of its 16 games on the road so far in , returns home for four straight league games beginning with Bemidji State this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7). The Huskies are at home this season. Rookie Shane Hanna (Salmon Arm, BC) recorded his first two career goals and three total points in Tech s sweep at Alaska last weekend. The defenseman scored Tech s first goal in both games with shots from the point. Saturday s (Nov. 30) tally was a power-play goal. He also added an assist in Friday s (Nov. 29) 3-2 win. Hanna owns 2-4=6 on the season, having playing in all 16 games. Michigan Tech is plus-8 on the power-play this season with eight goals and no shorthanded goals surrendered. The Huskies are minus-9 on the penalty-kill with 13 power-play goals given up and four shorthanded markers. Tech s four shorthanded goals is tied for third nationally. C.J. Eick (Appleton, WI) registered three points last weekend with three primary assists during Tech s sweep at Alaska. The sophomore winger had assists on both of Alex Petan s goals Friday (Nov. 29) including the game winner in a 3-2 victory. He added an assist on Tanner Kero s shorthanded game winner in Saturday (Nov. 30) 2-1 win. Eick is tied for fifth on the team in scoring with 2-4=6 in 16 games. His three shorthanded points this season rank him tops among all WCHA players. Tech s win on Nov. 29 at Alaska was the first time it had given up the first goal of the game and won. The Huskies are now in that scenario and when they score the game s first goal. Freshman Michael Neville (Woodbridge, ON) recorded his team-leading seventh assist of the season last Friday in a 3-2 victory. The center had the faceoff win on Shane Hanna s goal one pass later. Neville is tied for fourth in the WCHA among freshmen in scoring with 1-7=8 in 16 games this year.

16 Weekly Team Notebooks con t Mavericks Minnesota State University Winners of its last three games, Minnesota State (7-7-0, WCHA) claimed 3-2 and 7-3 home wins over Alaska Anchorage last Friday and Saturday. The Mavericks entertain Northern Michigan this weekend in a pair of league games at Verizon Wireless Center. The meetings between the Mavericks and the Wildcats are the first between the two schools. With three goals and two assists in the two wins vs UAA, junior F Jean-Paul Lafontaine (Flint, MI) has 6-5=11 to stand No. 1 on the team s scoring chart. Lafontaine, who owns a four-game scoring streak (5-2=7), has not missed a game at MSU and has played in 93 straight. His 28-46=74 career numbers move him into 25th (tie) on the school s D1 scoring list. Senior F Zach Lehrke had a goal and two assists in the series vs. UAA in boosting his season totals to 1-5=6 in four games played. Lehrke owns 24-36=60 in 108 games during the course of his four-year MSU career. Sophomore F Teddy Blueger accumulated four assists in the two wins over UAA and enters the NMU series with 3-6=9. Blueger, who leads the Mavs with 137 face-off wins on the season, has 9-19=28 in 52 career games. Freshman netminder Cole Huggins stopped 21 shots in backstopping the Mavericks to Friday s 3-2 win over UAA. The Centennial, Colo., native owns a record, 2.02 goals-against average and.931 sv% on the year. Freshman D Sean Flanagan got his first career game-winning goal in MSU s 3-2 victory over UAA last Friday. Flanagan (3-1=4) has played in 11 consecutive games and is tied for second on the team at +3. Sophomore F Bryce Gervais, who has not missed a game in his two-year MSU career and has played 55 consecutive games, has 5-1=6 in 14 games this season. Gervais owns 13-6=19 in two seasons at MSU. Junior D Zach Palmquist enters the NMU series with 2-6=8 in the last nine games. Palmquist, who has 15-37=52 in 93 career games, has not missed a game in his three-year collegiate career. NMU took the loss on Friday (Nov. 29) 1-4 but bounced back for to earn a 1-1 overtime tie on Saturday (Nov. 30). Freshman goalie Mathias Dahlstrom is currently tied for first nationally in shutouts with three and is the highest ranked freshman in the category. Dahlstrom also ranks 15th in goals-against average, 19th in save percentage and 38th in winning percentage. Sophomore forward Cohen Adair and senior forward Jake Johnson each scored power-play goals for the Wildcats over the weekend. Johnson netted the equalizer last Saturday to even the score at 1-1. It was the third goal of the season for Adair and the second for Johnson. Senior forward, and assistant captain, Stephan Vigier continues to lead the Wildcats with 10 goals and 15 points. He also has five assists and has appeared in all 14 games this season. Vigier is currently ranked first in power-play goals (6) and goals (10) in the WCHA. It is the first meeting between the clubs. Minnesota State is currently overall with a WCHA record and tied for third in the league. The Mavericks have been solid at home this season posting a record at the Verizon Wireless Center.
