1 Last Week in Pinkerton Academy Athletics Boys Cross Country: Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 Varsity: 1. Londonderry Pinkerton Exeter 72 Record: W L 1-1 Joe Gagnon ran a tremendous race to take first place in a time of 16:36. However, Londonderry was up to the challenge and took the next five spots defeating the Astro's by 21 points. Zach Aham ran a 17:18 placing 7th. Freshman Luke Brennan ran a 17:22 placing 9th. Rounding out the Astro's top five were Jeff Mize and Nolan Preble placing 11th and 13th respectively. Our sixth and seventh varsity competitors were Nathan and Sam Steiger. The Long Red Line's next meet will be at Mt. Washington, Gorham, NH running the Paul Letarte Invitational on Saturday September 8 at 10:30 am. 2 Senior Joe Gagnon ran well to place second with a 16:33 on the hilly course. His performance helped the Long Red Line to place second as a team. The teams depth was showcased with the following competitors. Luke Brennan, Jeff Mize, and Nolan Preble, all ran under the 18:00 mark for the 5000 meter course. Following close behind were Zach Aham and Nathan Steiger timed at 18:06 placing 20th and 21st respectively. Rounding out the Astro's top seven was Sam Steiger placing 34th with a time of 18:52. The Long Red Line s next meet will be home on Tuesday September 11 at 4:00 pm vs Winnacunnet and Timberlane. Girls Cross Country: Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 Varsity: 1. Exeter Pinkerton Londonderry 46 Tuesday, the Pinkerton Trailblazers competed in their first regular season meet at Londonderry High School vs Exeter and Londonderry. This served as the Mack Plaque competition versus Londonderry for Cross Country. In first for the girls with a strong race was Senior Captain Ciara April. Right on her heels was freshman Mareisa Preble. Molly McGaffigan, Meghan Robidoux and Jordan Vaillancourt completed the scoring team for the Trailblazers. Our record is now 1-1. Our next competition is next Tuesday at home vs. Timberlane and Winnacunnet. Field Hockey: Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 4 - Memorial 0 Pinkerton (3-0): 1st half - 4 2nd half - 0 Manchester Memorial (??): 1st half - 0 2nd half - 0 Goals: PA: Lauren Lisauskas 2, Mari Shea 1, Justine Doyle, 1 Saves: PA Khaliyah Ellis 3; MM--Stephanie Millios 14

3 JV: Pinkerton 6 - Memorial 0 Scoring for the Astros was Jessica Johnson with 2 goals, Maddy Curley 1 goal and 1 assist, Holly Cardoza, Alex Carney and Mya Landry each with 1 goal. It great was team effort. Freshmen: Pinkerton 3 - Portsmouth 0 Freshman field hockey beat Portsmouth on 9/5 3-0! Goals scored by Jaclyn Dubray, Sage Wing and Peyton Knowlton. Abbey Rowe had 4 saves in net today. Saturday, September 8th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 1 - Central 0 PA goal - 1st half Ava Dorci PA goalie - Khaliyah Ellis - 2 saves Next game vs. BG Wednesday at 4:00 JV: Pinkerton 6 - Central 0 Game ball went to Eliza Taylor for outstanding hustle, defense, and vision on the field. Peyton Knowton scored 2 goals, Jessica Johnson, Jordyn Wasiejko, and Maddy Curley all contributed a goal. Lauren Rivera played strong in the middle. Football: Friday, September 7th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 56 - Dover 28 The Astros bumped their record to 2-0 Friday night beating Dover The Astros will be taking on Exeter this coming Friday at home at 7:00pm. Gannon Fast had an excellent game with 4 touchdown and 179 yards rushing. Bass Fishing:

5 Team Scores: 1. Pinkerton Portsmouth Dover Alvirne 267 The JV golf team improved to 5-0 on the season on Tuesday. The Astros defeated Dover, Portsmouth and Alvirne. Final match results were PA 221, Portsmouth 231, Dover 243 and Alvirne 267. Tylor Pappalardo was medalist for the match with a 40. He was backed up by Max Lukeman and Jeremy Burke who shot 43. Taylor Olivier with a 46 and Trevor Huuskonen 49 rounded out the scoring for Pinkerton. The Astros return to action next Monday in a match at Bishop Guertin. Boys Soccer: Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 4 - Winnacunnet 0 Junior, Trevor Demers. sophomore Nate Polyukotuvich and senior Alex Rust and Henry Andrew provided the goals for the Astros. Pinkerton s defnese on senior Mac Johnson, Jon Tremblay, Rob Douglas, Hunter Rathburn, and Sophomore Brendan Hanlon protected the goal all afternoon as the Astros recorded their second straight shut-out. JV: Pinkerton 2 - Winnacunnet 0 The JV Astros defeated the Winnacunnet Warriors Tuesday evening. Kyle Zirn scored both goals. Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 Freshmen: Pinkerton 3 - Winnacunnet 0 Simon Borges goal from a Sam Dionne assist in the first half. Second half goals scored by Robbie Jones assisted by Simon Borges and a third goal scored by Jack McCauley. Goalie Owen Belanger secures his second shutout of the year thanks in part to strong defense by Peter Duriga. Friday, September 7th, 2018

6 Varsity: Pinkerton 5 - Spaulding 0 Alex Rust scored 3 goals to the Astros beat Spaulding 5-0. Conrad Demers and Will D Amico scored the other 2 goals. Assist came from Terry Coyle (2), Hunter Rathburn (2), and Will D Amico. The Astros have started the season on a high note, but non higher than Senior tri-captain, Alex Rust s accomplishment. Alex played all 11 positions on the field vs. Spaulding. This has never been accomplished in Pinkerton Soccer history previously. JV: Pinkerton 5 - Spaulding 0 The JV Boys Soccer team beat Spaulding 5-0 Friday night. Dan Humphrey had a game high 3 goals. Ben Auer and Jack Colby each scored a goal as well. Saturday, September 8th, 2018 Freshmen: Pinkerton 2 - Bedford 1 Goal scored by Jack McCarthy assisted by a Nathan Hall corner kick and a second goal scored by Reilly Beaulieu rounded out the scoring in the first half. In the second half of play the Bulldogs scored with 20 minutes remaining off a free kick. Thanks to solid defense, the Astros held on for a 2-1 win. Girls Soccer: Tuesday, September 4th, 2018 Varsity: Winnacunnet 1 - Pinkerton 0 Pinkerton lost to Winnacunnet 1-0 in overtime Tuesday night. Pinkerton played well, and controlled most of the game. Sam Franks, Enya Vanasse-Lageaux, Sierra Mielens, and Katie Ziniti developed many chances up top, including Sam Franks crossbar with five minutes to go. Macy Graves, Adria Forand, Aana Blaszka, and Reagan Kolinski played steering defense, limiting Winnacunnet to five shots. Winnacunnet finished on an unlucky bounce with six minutes to go in the first overtime. JV: Winnacunnet 1 - Pinkerton 0

7 The lady Astros played a strong game, but couldn't produce goals in a tough 0-1 loss against Winnacunnet. Fantastic goalkeeping from both Junior Mishela Duka (PK save) and sophomore Izzy Woods. The girls look to rebound Friday with a home match against Spaulding. Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 Freshmen: Pinkerton 4 - Winnacunnet 3 The freshman girls team beat Winnacunnet yesterday 4-3 in an exciting game. Winnacunnet scores early on in the game giving them a quick lead. Rain Keefe tied it up with a free kick that went off the other team and into the net. With that change in momentum, the Pinkerton s offense picked up with two more goals from Rain and one goal from Kailee Fournier. Winnacunnet continued to fight getting two more goals, but Pinkerton was able to hold them off for the win. Allison Lamphere and Caitlin Seleny had great games on the defensive end. Friday, September 7th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 9 - Spaulding 0 Pinkerton beat Spaulding 9-0 Friday night with 8 different scores. Chayse Dube started the game off with a goal in the first minute. Katie Ziniti, Mattie Sullivan, Adria Forand, and Dube added more goals for the first half. In the second half, Alexis Skafas, Enya Vanasse-Lageaux, Macy Graves, and Ally Croteau added a goal. Vanasse-Lageaux has two assists, and Dube, Sierra Mielens, Victoria Peguri, Julia Preston, and Sullivan each added an assist. JV: Pinkerton 6 - Spaulding 0 The Astros earned their 2nd home win of the season with a solid showing against Spaulding, 6-0. Highlights included both excellent saves AND a goal from goalkeeper Mishela Duka, a header goal from freshman Maddie Frank, and two goals each for freshmen Sawyer Jackson and Grayson Tellier. The ladies look to earn their first away win this week against Bedford and Goffstown. Saturday, September 8th, 2018 Freshmen: Pinkerton 2 - Bedford 1

8 The girls freshman team beat Bedford 2-1 on Saturday morning. Maggie Brown scored both goals for PA in the first half. There were many opportunities to score for Pinkerton but we weren t able to capitalize on them. Bedford scored 1 goal to make it a competitive fight to the finish. Sam Kennett had a great defensive game to keep us in the lead! Girls Volleyball: Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 3 - Alvirne 0 Game 1: Pinkerton 25 - Alvirne 11 Game 2: Pinkerton 25 - Alvirne 9 Game 3: Pinkerton 25 - Alvirne 13 The girls varsity volleyball team made it 2 straight wins to start the season, as they shutout the Alvirne Bronco by a 3-0 score. Junior outside hitter Leya Wong led the Astros with 7 kills, 18 service points, and 9 aces. Junior setter Ella Dandrade had 15 assists, 15 service points, along with 5 aces. Brooke Kane had a strong net game as she contributed 5 kills. Senior captain Amelia Graves was her usual force as they added 5 kills, 14 digs, and was strong in serve recieve. Bekka Stallings played well at the net gathering 2 kills and a block. JV: Pinkerton 3 - Alvirne 0 Game 1: Pinkerton 23 - Alvirne 25 Game 2: Pinkerton 25 - Alvirne 18 Game 3: Pinkerton 15 - Alvirne 7 The JV Astros won their second match of the season against Alvirne HS last night in an exciting 3 game match. Freshman Sierra Edgecomb led the team in kills and played a strong all around game. Sophomore Ellie Cashman had an impressive defensive game as well as contributing several aces. The Astros look forward to their next opponent, Timberlane, on Friday. Freshmen: Pinkerton 2 - Alvirne 0

9 In their opening game of the season, the Freshman Volleyball team fell to Alvirne 2-0. The contest had many positives for the Astros as they develop their skills. The coaches are proud of their progress! The girls will continue their season on Friday at Timberlane. Game time: 3:30. Friday, September 7th, 2018 Varsity: Pinkerton 3 - Timberlane 1 Game 1: Pinkerton 25 - Timberlane 13 Game 2: Pinkerton 25 - Timberlane 14 Game 3: Pinkerton 21 - Timberlane 25 Game 4: Pinkerton 25 - Timberlane 20 The Pinkerton Academy Girls Varsity Volleyball team went on the road to Timberlane to pick up their third straight win by a 3-1 score. Senior captain Amelia Graves put away 16 kills, and also collected 22 digs to lead to the Astros. Ella Dandrade continued her strong play at the setter position collecting 25 assists, 9 of which came in the decisive fourth game. Junior Leya Wong, had an outstanding day a the service line where she collected 29 service points and 4 aces. Senior middle Brooke Kane made her presence felt at the net where she picked up 5 kills and a block. Senior Kiely Davis and sophomore Reese Asselin both recorded double digit digs on the evening while Bekah Stalling s and Emma Bernard both contributed a block. JV: Pinkerton 2 - Timberlane 1 Game 1: Pinkerton 25 - Timberlane 19 Game 2: Pinkerton 25 - Timberlane 19 Game 3: Pinkerton 11 - Timberlane 15 The JV Girls Volleyball team improved their record to a 3-0 Friday night versus the Timberlane Owls. Maddie Pomeroy and Sarah Taylor both played at the net with several key blocks and kills. The Astros play Winnacunnet at home on Monday. Athletes of the Week: Katie Ziniti, Senior: Girls Soccer

10 Katie Ziniti,controlled the game at Center mid against Winnacunnet, and she scored a goal against Spalding. Alex Rust, Senior: Boys Soccer Senior Tri-Captain Alex Rust: had 4 goals and 1 assist last week. Also, played all 11 positions vs. Spaulding on Friday (a Pinkerton first). In that game, he scored 3 goals and made two saves in goal.
