1 Soccer Club of Guilford Board Meeting Meeting Minutes March 12 th, 2015 Opening: The General Meeting of the SCOG Board was called to order at 7:20 PM on March 12 th, 2015 in the Guilford Community Center by Joe Guerra its President. Present: Joseph Guerra, Meg Malatesta, Ray Iglesias, Dan Miller, Enrique Rivera, Shadi AbuGhazaleh, Joshua Krusewski, Brett Donoghue, Duncan McClintock, Jeff Parker Absent: Victoria Corsini, Kamila Brettman, Gene Mulone Attendees: Anthony Palumbo Approval of Agenda The agenda was unanimously approved. Approval of Minutes General Meeting Board Member Reports President Joe Guerra 1. Solid Lead on Equipment manager replacement. We review and recruit. 2. Recruiting for Vice President on hold. 3. CT Department of Labor has asked that we $1, for 101 contractors in calendar years 2013 and We are on hold for that We have three options Pay the amount and be done. The implication is that all referees and clinicians are now to be hired W2 employees of the SCOG. This also has ramifications to all CT youth sports clubs, schools and HS programs Dispute the finding and fight the employees status by claiming all are indeed Casual Labor contractors or all pass the 23 questions of the ABC test Dispute the finding using our local Representatives and Senator to fight along with us as a ridiculous finding that is abuse of the department power and mandate I have chosen option 3 above as the current course of action. I have reached out to all three officials two weeks ago. Mr. Kennedy has not replied to date. Mr. Scanlon and Mr. Candelora have both replied and agreed Mr. Candelora will take the lead. Mr. Candelora and I have been in touch via and telephone numerous times. He is not happy about the situation and understands the ramifications throughout the state and has already been in touch with the CT DOL. Waiting for next steps. 2 2. The CT Department of Labor audit of the SCOG is still undergoing. Any new details? 3. Total Collections: $1, (excludes waitlisted unpaid registrations (3)) 1. Prior Seasons: $ (3 registrants) 2. Fall 14 Spring 15 TC Season: $ this represents declined/expired recurring credit card transactions (2 registrants) 3. Winter Indoor: 1. Winter Indoor Games U16 Travel Comp Girls $87 - initial costs were not known at registration (1 registrants) 2. Winter Indoor Games U13 Travel Comp Boys $35 - initial costs were not known at registration (1 registrant) 4. Spring 15: 1. U11-U14 Travel Rec $20 (1 registrants) 2. U11-U14 Travel Comp New Members $325 (1 registrant) 3. U16 Travel Comp $325 (2 registrant) Collections follow-ups are being made weekly. 4. Spring 15 Financial Aid awarded to date: $1,320 (12 registrants) The SCOG Year To Date Financial Statements and all Statements back to Fiscal Year 2009 are available in printed from at tonight s meeting. Included for each Fiscal Year: Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss and General Ledger. SCD eventually gave us everything we asked for. SCD scheduling this Sunday Helped with Branford Soccer Club discussion about helping on the U12TR Girls side.

Will be beginning on April 11th at Leete and U6 will be from 8:30a-9:45a and U7 will be from 10a-11:15a. Neto and Andre will be running it again. IHR technical trainers all set for U8-U10. Chris Cieplik will be running U8 Boys. Dennis Garcia will be running U9/10 Boys. David Dikranian will be running U8 Girls and Jeff Sullivan will be running U9/10 Girls. Great group of trainers for this program! Was hoping to begin the week of April 4th Registrations for all IHR and Travel rec still ongoing Working on meeting with coaches to go over goals of program and how training sessions will work. Utilize them! Travel Director Shadi AbuGhazaleh Scheduling is this Sunday Coaches are in place for all teams U12 Boys Too many for one team, too few for two teams. There will be one team. The team will have a paid coach. The coach s fees will be added to program fee. Next season we should have volunteer coaches available. U13 Girls Not enough until last week when we decided to merge with Branford. Currently have 11. Have accommodated all requests Rush will have Cox Upper Left for training purposes during the week Women s Over 30 team has provided their schedule and will play 4PM on Sundays at Cox Upper Right The two Men s Adult teams will play on the HS Turf field 2. The SCD Spring Scheduling meeting will be held this Sunday, March 15, at the North Haven Best Western (Holiday Inn) 2.1. Will be providing training to Jeff Parker, or he to me we shall see They have an aggressive schedule so the coaches have to be in place on time and ready to go We will try to get there 20 minutes early to setup and make sure we have a place to do our work 3. Most of the coaches have submitted their training request for the spring season. So far there are no conflicts Still missing training requests for U19 teams Unsure if there is going to be U12 TR Boys and Girls, or U14 TR Girls teams if so, there are no training requests or coaches assigned Who will handle the scheduling meeting? Shadi made a motion to have a vote to not have elections in 2015, seconded by Duncan McClintock. All attendees approved. 4. Shadi made a motion to have a vote to extend the president s term for another year (through June 2016). Dan Miller seconded it. All attendees approved.
