6 RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. Membership Double $40.00, Single $ This gives free admission to the Show Grounds for the Functions, which the Society conducts during their year August 2016 to July The Certificate of Entry is a printed form to be obtained from the Secretary, which the Exhibitor must fill in and sign. This is urgent and absolutely necessary. The attention of intending exhibitors is drawn to the fact that entries are accepted subject to the Rules of the Chamber of Agricultural Societies and to Special Regulations, which appear in this schedule. 3. All Livestock Exhibits must be the bon fide property of the Exhibitor for at least one month prior to the Show. 4. Any Competitor failing to give full and correct performance, descriptions, brands and breeder s name when requested will be liable to have the whole of his/her prize money forfeited to the Society. Stock parade in ring as advised. All eligible stock must parade. 5. Pavilion events to be in place and ready for judging by noon on Friday, 24 th February. PHOTOGRAPHY exhibits to be in place between 12noon and 5.00pm Wednesday 22 nd February NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. Judging to commence at 1.00pm on all sections in the pavilion, except photography, which commences at 9.00am and Art which commences after 12noon. Stud Cattle exhibits to be in by 7.00am on Show Day. 6. Agricultural and Horticultural exhibits and articles of Household use must be grown or manufactured by the exhibitor. 7. All Livestock exhibits must remain on the grounds until 3.00pm on Show Day. No Exhibitor will be allowed to remove or in any way interfere with any exhibited article until 3.30pm on Show Day. Pavilion exhibits 5.00pm. 8. The Secretary shall furnish each judge with a detailed catalogue of exhibits to be judged. 9. The Stewards shall see that the Judges are furnished with a detailed schedule of events. They must also supply them with badges and afford them all attention and information necessary for the discharge of their duties 10. The Judges shall have the power to withhold any prize they consider the exhibit to be of insufficient merit. The decision of the Judge shall be final. 11. All persons shall be subject to the regulations of the Stewards. Stewards shall have the power to remove Exhibitors or other persons from the vicinity of the judge whilst judging if they are deemed to be causing a nuisance. 12. The Society reserves the right of refusal to admit any exhibit into the grounds which there is reason to suspect is either diseased or dangerous. If detected after admission, removal from the grounds can be ordered. 13. No award ribbon other than those awarded at the current show shall be placed on any exhibit whilst in the Show Ground, without the consent of the Stewards for the section in which it is entered. 14. NO Entry Fee is necessary for the Championship in any section and only First and Second prize will be eligible for Championships. No animal is to compete in Championships unless entered in classes. 15. Exhibitors of Livestock must make their own arrangements for feeding their stock. Any Exhibitor removing his or her exhibits from the grounds before the appointed time may be disqualifies and prize money, if any, forfeited. 16. The decision of the Stewards regarding the arranging of exhibits shall be final. 17. All cattle are to be judged in the ring. When paraded in the ring cattle must have a nose grip. Page 6

7 18. Stewards will obtain Prize Cards and Ribbons from the Secretary and affix same to the exhibits, after filling in names of successful exhibitors and other particulars. 19. If possible all prize money and trophies will be paid on Show Day. Exhibitors are to collect this from the Secretary s office after 3.00pm. 20. The Official Opening will be held at 12.30pm following the Grand Parade at 12.15pm in which the winning stock must take part. Any Livestock exhibits not taking part in the Parade may forfeit prize money and the owner subject to a fine. 21. The Society will not, in any circumstances, hold itself responsible for any loss, damage, or misdelivery of any Livestock or Exhibit at the Show. 22. The Society will not be responsible for any accident that may occur to any exhibit at the Show, and it shall hold the Society blameless and indemnify it against any legal proceedings arising from the accident. 23. Precautions will be taken to guard against fire, and to protect the property of the Show, but Exhibits will not be insured at the cost of the Society percent of the Gross Proceeds for the sale of any Livestock or Produce Exhibits on the Show Grounds must be paid to the Show Society, and agents are requested to please note this regulation. 25. The Committee may abandon the exhibition of any event thereof because of wet weather or any other reason that may make such course advisable. Should the exhibition of any event be abandoned or cancelled, exhibitors shall be entitled to a return of their entrance fee paid, but no cause for liability or obligation shall be maintained or be incurred by reason of such abandonment or cancellation. 26. The Society reserves the right to substitute Special Prizes, which may be later, donated for any of the Scheduled Prizes. 27. Protests must be lodged to the Secretary, in writing, accompanied by a fee of $10.00 not later than 2 hours after the judging of an event being protested. The deposit in any protest considered by the Committee to be frivolous will be forfeited to the Society. 28. No collector shall be allowed on the grounds except those authorized by the Committee, and any person infringing this Regulation may be removed by a Committee member with or without Police assistance. 29. Persons requiring space on the Show Grounds, during the Show must apply to the Secretary. 30. Any exhibit not ready for judging at the time specified for judging may be disqualified. 31. All Electrical Equipment must be tagged. Page 7

9 The Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies Inc. QUEENSLAND COUNTRY LIFE SHOWGIRL AWARDS The Queensland Country Life Miss Showgirl Awards provide young Queensland women the opportunity to be involved with a wonderful Queensland tradition their local Show! The Queensland Chamber of Agricultural Societies seeks committed and enthusiastic young ladies to represent Queensland Shows, both rural and metropolitan, during their term. Entrants must be single, aged 18 years and under 28 years on the 1 st August in the year of the competition. The awards are open to girls born in Australia or naturalized Australians. The ultimate winner must remain single until the conclusion of the Royal Queensland Show. Entrants must not have been married or have had or having a child prior to State Final Judging. An entrant must have been selected as a current representative of the Miss Showgirl Awards conducted by an affiliated Society to be eligible to compete in Sub-Chamber and State Final judging. In the event of the local representative being unable to attend sub-chamber judging and a runner-up had been selected then she may do so. Previous State Winners and Runners-Up in the Miss Showgirl Awards are not eligible to enter again. Local and Sub-Chamber Winners and Runners-Up may enter again providing that they are not State Winners. The aim of the competition at Cooyar is to provide the opportunity for young women to gain and expand their knowledge and involvement with the Cooyar Show, and to represent the Show Society and district both during the show, and at other Darling Downs Show Societies events to which the winner may be invited. The Cooyar Showgirl Competition is run by the State rules, which can be found at and the winner at Cooyar is eligible for nomination to the Darling Downs Sub-Chamber finals, held each year in conjunction with the Toowoomba Royal Show. TEEN SHOWGIRL The objectives of the Teen Showgirl competition are identical to Miss Showgirl, but this is a Cooyar Show Society competition only for girls aged years old, with no affiliation to QCAS. MARSH INSURANCE RURAL AMBASSADOR AWARDS The aim of the Marsh Rural Ambassador Award is to highlight the importance of young people in rural and regional Queensland, in particular those associated with the Agricultural Show movement. The award identifies those people actively involved in their local Show, who have a sound knowledge of current rural issues affecting their local areas, Queensland and Australia and who have a strong affiliation with agriculture. The award seeks young people, aged years, and single or married who symbolize the rural spirit people with vitality who are forward thinking and with a passion for the land and local agricultural shows. 12 The Darling Downs Sub-Chamber of Agricultural Societies Beef Young Judges & Paraders Competitions The Hormel Slide must be used at all levels in the Young Judging Competitions. To be eligible for the State Finals, Competitors must comply with all of these Rules. Local Show Rules 1. Competitors must be over 15 years and under 25 years of age on the 1 st of May in the year of the State Final. 2. Competitors under 18 years of age must have the approval of a parent or guardian to compete. 3. Competitors are the be a resident in Queensland for at least 3 months prior to competing or attending an educational institution in Queensland unless they qualify under Rule (4) 4. Competitors residing over the border who can prove an affinity with a Queensland Show are allowed entry provided they satisfy one of the following criteria a. Their address has a Queensland postcode b. They have a Queensland phone number c. The competitor or their parents are active working members of that Show. 5. National Winners or persons on a National judging panel for that event are ineligible to compete. Competitions will also be held for COOKERY, FARM PRODUCE, and PRIME CATTLE at the Darling Downs finals. Sub-Chamber Rules Rules (1-5) in the local Show Rules apply to all Sub-Chamber Finals. 6. Any young person who enters an Agricultural Show on the Darling Downs and receives an entry form from the Show Society may then enter at Darling Downs Young Judges Competition. 7. A State Final Entry Form must be completed by the winner of each Competition immediately after judging and forwarded to the QCAS State Office by the Sub-Chamber Secretary/Coordinator.
