Each age group has 24 teams across the country, ACT again performed exceptionally with the 15 s group making their Grand Final and the 17 s falling just short with a close loss in the Semi-Final a week earlier. U15 s Junior Gold WA Force 24 (Matthews 2, Hastie and Murray tries; Leituala 2/4 conversions, 0/3 penalties) defeated ACT Brumbies 14 (Jake Herse and Matt Parisotto tries; Wez Alexander 2/2 conversions) The Brumbies U15s quest for Junior Gold Cup glory fell agonisingly short as the WA Force made it back -to-back championships. Played in constant drizzle at the picturesque home of the Cottesloe Rugby. With a greater share of possession and better field position the Brumbies took a 7-5 lead at the 11th minute following a try by Jake Herse and a conversion from Wez Alexander. that the player was held up however on the advice from his assistant referee awarded the try. The Force sealed their win in injury time with a converted try and the final score line of Despite the heartbreaking loss the boys from the ACT and Southern NSW are the pride of the capital. U17 S Junior Gold For the 17 s group, last years winners of the National Competition, fell one game short of being able to defend their title, but a plus to this very talented group is that in 2017 the majority of this group return for another crack at Junior Gold Glory. COVER PHOTO: Henschke Primary School, Wagga Wagga The Brumbies were forced to make an unplanned changed following an injury to Harry Newby in the opening minutes of the second half and soon after the Force took a 7-12 lead with a converted try. Whenever the Brumbies had extended period of possession they always threatened to score and midway through the second half they took a lead following a try from Matt Parisotto and another successful conversion from Wez Alexander. It was a mixed competition for the 17 s group with a couple of close losers at each end of the tournament which ultimately ruined the teams chances of defending their 2015 title. Plenty of positives came out of the group and with the talent this group possess, no doubt they will be there again, contesting for the title in Results for the 17 s were: Met West 12 def 0 ACT South Australia 0 def by 59 ACT Southern Province 0 def by 32 ACT Semi-Final Met West 19 def 18 ACT In the 55th minute the Force took a lead following a try. The 7000 strong crowd were entertained, with both teams showing off the flair they are know for. The game went down to the wire with the Waratahs scoring on the bell to edge out the Brumbies word about Rugby, but generally to allow the kids to have fun and learn skills along the way. 800 kids participated in Brumby Jack Attack Clinics across 4 different schools. The clinics were held over 3 days for 3 hours each day from 9am to 12pm each day. All kids got bucket caps, water bottles for attending the clinics. Each day the kids got a chance to watch the Brumbies train and on the first day which saw a lot of our youngest kids attend, Ben Gathercole (Brumbies Team Manager) took the kids on a little tour of Brumbies HQ. Over the 3 days close to 130 kids participated across the 3 days with an average of about 35 kids per day. Majority of the kids came from in and around Canberra, but it was great to see kids from SIRU and Monaro/South Coast regions attend. South Wagga Primary School loving the Posters School to go through some very important questions from the kids in Wagga. The Saturday of the big game saw the Brumbies Squad all attend a fan day at Bolton Park, where kids got the chance to mingle with the players, get autographs or simple just kick a footy around with the likes of Joe Tomane and David Pocock. The week prior to the game the Brumbies staff were able to get to plenty of schools to spread the Brumbies Captain Stephen Moore in Wagga.

All teams got to play 3 games in the pool stage with the top 2 playing in the finals.
