2 Welcome BULL SALE W I T H G U E S T S SADDLERIDGE CHAROLAIS Box 105, Rosemary, AB T0J 2W0 Ralph Retzlaff Leonard Retzlaff We, along with the Kaisers and Gillilands, are very pleased to invite you to our 2019 bull sale at Bow Slope in Brooks this year on Feb 27. The 2018 winter was long and cold and tested the fortitude of many cattle producers. If your cows calved any time from January to April you were fighting very cold temperatures without many breaks. This weather did cause a few nipped ears last year. All but one of our bulls are sired by our 2 walking bulls this year. Our walking bulls, Pleasant Dawn Classic and GLM Clover are both moderately framed sires with good hair coats, great disposition and good performance. We like the consistency they have brought to our program and believe their progeny will add performance and profit to yours! We did have all our yearling bulls 50K DNA tested so that their genomic information can be used to help establish their EPDs. This technology is designed to provide more accuracy to the EPDs. This year we provided both the 205D, which is adjusted for the bull s birth date and the age of his dam, as well as the actual weaning weights which were taken on Sept. 14. Once again this year we will be happy to take your purchases back to our farm and deliver them later in the spring when it is convenient. We offer free delivery for 300 km and will work with you on longer distances. Come early to the sale for beef on a bun. If you are unable to attend the sale, internet bidding will again be available through DLMS. Feel free to visit the farm to check out the bulls and have some coffee. This man is the reason we are in the Charolais business today. In the early 70 s Sonny bought a ¾ Charolais bull and was quick to recognize the value in the breed right away. Throughout the 70 s and 80 s Dad and my cousin Randy Kaiser ran Kaiser Charolais Farms and had many successful sales in High River. When the kids decided to join the heifer club in 4H and bought a few charolais heifers, I started buying some Charolais cows and Dad was always around to answer questions and mentor us through it. Thanks Dad for helping to instill in me and my family a true love of this farm and way of life. You will be sorely missed and we aim to keep your legacy alive as we move forward.
