6 The Herd Bulls A bull we selected for his meat structure and structural soundness. We used him as a purebred and then commercially, but realized we neede to use more of him as his sons and daughters matured. Excellent milking females. Sons have muscle. An average cow of any breed should be able to calve 7% of her body weight. 2. Most Charolais cows will weigh between lbs., expected calf weight to range from 98 to 126 lbs. 3. Calving ease is MORE important than birth weight because a longer sided calf may calve easy, but the birth weight is higher. 22 White Cap Charolais With the increasing demand for 2 year old bulls, we decided to set aside a group of young and promising calves to sell to this market. We brought these bulls along with our yearling bulls on a moderate developing ration until April. They were then switched on to a high forage backgrounding ration until turned out on pasture in August. In November, we brought these bulls in along with our own herd sires to finish their development into the phenomenal set of bulls you see. All of our cows calving after April 1st are out on pasture. They do not have birth weights because we simply cannot weight them. If there were any concerns with calving ease in these bulls, they would not be catalogued. This is as strong as a set of 2 year old bulls as we have ever offered to producers and feel you will find something to fit your program needs.
