2 Welcome Welcome to our 9th annual bull sale! I would like to sincerely thank all of our customers/friends, and neighbors for their support and trust in our program. It is always humbling each year when one realizes that without you (the customers) we would be nothing, so we deeply appreciate you support, and look forward to seeing you again this year, serving your needs the best that we can. It s hard to believe another year has already gone by! It seems the older we get the faster time goes by, and since the old saying goes time fl ies when you re having fun, I guess this past year has been a lot of fun. That s the positive way of looking at things and I believe it is always best to look at things in a positive light. That helps to make life and work much more pleasant and much more rewarding. We had a good year despite the dry conditions early in Hay was a little short to start with but we had a good third cutting of alfalfa and the best corn silage I have ever raised. Our calves were the heaviest they have been in years coming off the cow, our steers averaged 678 lbs off the cow the fi rst week in November, with no creep feed. I was very happy! The bulls were a lot heavier also. We weaned the bulls around the middle part of October and they have done really well this winter despite the cold and ice. No creep feed was fed to the bulls either. They are fed a high roughage diet to gain around that 2.5lbs per day, this helps to ensure good feet and longevity of the bulls for you the customer. This is one the most structurally correct set of bulls with the best feet on them I think we have raised. I think that you will be very pleased with them on sale day. We have added a few new sires to the lineup again, as well as our proven home raised sires that we have been using. They are a very even set of bulls and we are excited for you to take a look at them on April 8th at the sale. We continue to strive to raise very functional cattle that meet the needs of today s advancing beef demands, by selecting for traits such as fl eshing ability, efficiency, performance, eye appeal, carcass merit, fertility, udder and feet structure, longevity, and disposition. We continue to test our own genetics in our commercial herd as well to make sure that they will meet your needs. RETAINED SEMEN INTEREST: We are retaining a 1/3 semen interest in all the sale bulls unless otherwise indicated. Full possession sells on all bulls. HEALTH/CATTLE MANAGEMENT: All cattle are on a complete vaccination program as recommended by our veterinarian. We have a BVD-free herd. All bulls were fed together on a high roughage diet, though Emit and David fed their own bulls separately this year. BREEDING GUARANTEE: We guarantee all bulls to be breeders. All bulls will have been tested and passed a breeding soundness and fertility test by Dr. Stephanie Bown. If for some reason we are unable to, we recommend you have the bull s semen tested a couple of weeks before turnout time. If after two tests a bull is found to be a non-breeder, we will replace the bull or allow credit toward next year s sale. This guarantee is void if there is any evidence of improper management in caring for the animal, or the bull s inability to breed is due to sickness or injury that was incurred after being sold. The bull shall be returned by the purchaser or other arrangements made with us. LIABILITIES: All persons who attend the sale do so at their own risk. The owners assume no liability, legal or otherwise, for any accidents which may occur. DELIVERY: If you haul your own bull home sale day you will receive $50 off the purchase price. We can assist you in delivering the bulls either to your ranch or to central locations on major highways up to 300 miles at the least cost possible to the new purchaser, within the next week or so. 6 Reference Sires This herd bull is one that we feel represents his sire Red Towaw Indeed as good as any son out there. He is extremely deep bodied and really thick and deep hindquarters, he is thick and wide all the way across VRRA INDEED Z18 his back and he has a good straight top line, with a nice head. He has excellent feet and is very correct. He is the result of a flush out of one of my favorite cow, P60 Eucla. On the first flush with only one straw of semen in her she had 27 eggs and 21 #1s and 3 #2s. We sold one bull brother to Crump Red Angus and we put four full brothers in our commercial herd and we put Z18 in the registered herd. He may not have the big, high EPD numbers but neither did Indeed himself and look what he did for the breed and how sought after he is. This herd bull (Z18) is very balanced, no super highs, no super lows, and he is phenotypically fl awless. His sons are absolute studs! Come check them out. They will all have been check by our vet for breedability, they have had all their shots, dewormed, poured, and had two breed back shot also. They have been cycling since end of December. Very nice gentle set of heifers! Lot Lot COMMERCIAL FIRST-CALF HEIFER PAIRS Ibought these heifers as bred last fall from two ranches. They were all home raised and not something they put together. They are out of Bieber and Stevensen/Sorbie bulls and are a very even set of heifers. They started calving the 3rd of March and they are excellent mothers so far. They have had all their shots, been poured and wormed. We wanted to try to have a little something different for you and sometimes guys don t have the time or don t want to calve out heifers but would like to have a young pair with all the work done for them, so that is what we have done here with this set of heifers. They will be ready to go to grass with the calves being vaccinated and all the work will be done. Our bulls on the sale will cross really nice on these heifers so take a good look at both and put yourself a nice herd together with all the work done already.
